Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1526: Their fight
Chapter 1526: Their fight
"Ugh... why this always happens?" Terra asked when Rain and Lonos disappeared. "This is so unnerving, and it is becoming a normal occurrence at this point. Nobody can deny this."
"Focus on the enemy in front of us. We can help him once we are done with this guy," Seara said.
"I have a bad feeling about this..." Sealyn said when she saw Fortus suddenly spinning like a roulette.
No one knew what to expect from an enemy that looked like that, so they raised their guard... eventually, the body of Fortus slowed down, and then when it stopped, all of them were teleported to the planet where Rain fought Rais.
Everyone looked around in confusion since the place was exactly how Rain had mentioned, but the parts of the world and the giant trees were moving away from the planet... they had no idea why Fortus bought them there. Before long, Fortus began to spin once again...
"What the hell..." Reca said while frowning.
"He is an enemy whose main ability is a probability; he won’t do anything that isn’t beneficial to him; keep your guard up," Sakaki said.
As Fortus floated in the air, his presence cast a large shadow over the battlefield, and the group hesitated to launch their attack. Despite their readiness to confront the machine gods, they found themselves uncertain of how to approach Fortus when he began spinning erratically. It was clear that his spinning motion held some significance, but the group had no way of predicting the outcome if they attempted to intervene.
The uncertainty surrounding Fortus’s spinning left the group wary and cautious, unsure of the potential consequences of their actions. Without a clear understanding of Fortus’s abilities or intentions, they hesitated to make a move, wary of inadvertently triggering a dangerous reaction.
Adding to the group’s unease was the enigmatic nature of Fortus himself. Unlike other adversaries they had faced, Fortus had remained silent and stoic, offering no insight into his identity or motivations. This lack of communication only served to deepen the group’s sense of unease, leaving them to grapple with the mystery of Fortus’s true nature.
"I sense another type of energy being used..." Sakaki said when Fortus stopped moving.
Before long, the group saw the territories around the giant trees moving and approaching them. At the same time, the giant trees began to call forth countless vines that looked like tentacles moving...
"Teleport and now some sort of manipulation of trees..." Seadrei said while furrowing his eyebrows. "It looks like this enemy can do a little of everything."
"Attack them when they get within range. It is about time for these cosmic parasites to meet their ends," Sealyn declared.
All of the groups began to spread around the area that they were in and then waited for the giant trees approached, but then when they got within range, they used their Origin techniques.
As the group launched their assault on the monstrous trees, the air was racked by the sound of splintering wood and explosive impacts. Each strike from their weapons and abilities caused the trees to groan and shudder, their colossal forms quaking under the relentless onslaught.
With each blow, the bark of the trees split apart, revealing the gnarled and twisted flesh beneath. As the damage inflicted upon them intensified, the trees began to tremble violently, their branches thrashing about in agony.
The ground beneath them trembled as the trees convulsed, their monstrous forms writhing and contorting as they struggled to withstand the relentless barrage of attacks.
Despite their appearance, it became clear that these monstrous trees were not mere plants but sentient beings capable of feeling pain. The violent thrashing of their tentacle-like branches served as a grim testament to the agony they endured with each blow.
The first few trees were destroyed, and then others approached, but soon they met their end as well... Sealyn looked at Fortus, who wasn’t spinning... if that was his plan of attack, it was severely lacking.
"He must be updating the data on your guy’s strength," Nigel said. "It is better to get rid of him as soon as possible."
"Right..." Sealyn said.
Sealyn’s keen intuition led her to a realization amidst the chaos of battle. As she observed Fortus’s unique form, resembling a colossal dice with numerous sides, she couldn’t shake the feeling that each side represented a distinct ability or power at his disposal.
With this in mind, Sealyn understood the importance of targeting and neutralizing each facet of Fortus’s body before he could unleash them against the group. By destroying each side of the dice, they could potentially prevent Fortus from utilizing certain abilities or tactics, thereby reducing the threat he posed to their safety.
By prioritizing the destruction of each side of his dice-like body, they aimed to cripple his offensive capabilities and prevent him from overwhelming them with his array of powers. It was a troublesome risk, but one that Sealyn knew they had to take in order to gain the upper hand in their battle against Fortus.
If someone had to attack the enemy first to avoid a surprise that could happen, Sealyn thought that someone had to be her... she was still the strongest of the group, and she knew that she could endure anything that the enemy launched at her. She was that confident after training for ten years nonstop...
Before the enemy could make any other move, Sealyn began to charge her Origin Thrust to the limits and also enhanced the spear with ice magic...
The air around her cracked with power, and then she unleashed her attack... However, something that looked like a glass mirror appeared on the surface of Fortus’ body after he suddenly spun and then blocked the attack... that wasn’t all... Sealyn’s arm bent to an unnatural direction and then her body was covered in a thick layer of ice that made the temperature drop instantly.
"I guess being reckless runs in the family..." Elisabetha said.
