Arc 2, Chapter 74 — Old Faces

.

.

It’s been 1 week and 4 days since that intense class with Winhest. Since then, classes have been held every 3 days as Winhest said.

Today, there were no classes.

Everyone went out on their own, either training indoors or outdoors. Some opted to explore the vast outdoor lands, ensuring they stayed clear of the forbidden zones... or... regions they don’t have access to yet.

As usual, Levon did several reps of push ups, situps, and other common exercises in the open yard with rocks on his back.

It was unfathomable how storing he had grown. With how fast he was going, anyone in the outside world would think they were watching Hercules in action.

To keep up with one’s shard, one must ensure their body could match up in strength.

In the blink of an eye, he completed 10,000 push ups... 5,000 situps... and other exercises till his body grew damp, his physique now more pronounced than before.

Following this, he began Shard training. Unlike his physical training, Shard training gave him more worries.

Levon frowned.

’Is my progress slow solely due to my Shard-grade being a Pile-1?’

Or was there something else he missed that others had grasped?

’I can hold my Shard Form for 6 minutes 17 seconds... Although it’s better than my initial 11 seconds... it’s still worse compared to others.’ Levon acknowledged.

Many could already hold their shard body’s for an hour and a half, and some for almost 3 hours.

Neverthe;less, he was content with his progress so far,

Levon had a look of confusion and worry. At the same time, it would be a lie to say he wasn’t worried.

After having a taste of this place, the last thing he wanted was to fall too behind Artilla and the others. He wanted to grow without them.

’We make a great team...’

Levon felt he had matured a long way since coming here.

His former self would never admit it, but being around people who had his back felt quite nice.

Then again, in a world filled with Vampires, who’s to say any current decisions made are for the best?

Closing his eyes, manifesting his Katana opposite him. Warmth rushed through his body, making his muscles swollen and bulging.

However, this was only momentarily before returning to normal.

1 minute, 2 minutes... 3... 4... 5...6...

There it was – his limit: 6 Minutes, 17 seconds.

’Com’n....’ He encouraged himself. ’Just a little bit more...’

Levon’s body trembled as if infected with adrenaline. He felt like a million needles were jabbing through his skin right to the center of his bones.

’Don’t stop, don’t stop!’

His muscles erupted from bone-chilling pain.

It was suffocating... Every gulp of air he took felt like punishment.

’It hurts...’ Levon was gasping on his silent screams. He felt the blackness eat at the edges of his mission the longer he continued.

Just a little bit more... he had to go through the 6 minutes and 17 seconds he had earlier accomplished and stabilized.

Winhest’s warning several classes ago, bellowed through his heart.

[Shard Power is a double edged sword. If your body can’t contain it, you will explode.]

.

.

Grahhhhh~

Levon screamed inwardly, feeling something break within him.

He felt it... the crackling in his body.

Enough!

Levon stopped, gasping for air. He was sweaty, sticky and foul-smelling.

"6 minutes 23 seconds..." He murmured through his exhaustion. Yet, there was a blooming smile on his lips.

He had gone 5 seconds beyond his initial limit. It was a joke to many in this residence if they saw him smiling the way he was now.

Just 5 seconds and you’re not ashamed to be this happy?

Very quickly, Levon spent an additional 10 minutes stabilizing his current limit before collapsing on the ground.

’This should be enough Shard training for today. Tomorrow, I’ll focus on battle maneuvers.’

Despite only being able to hold his shard’s form for 6 minutes 11 seconds, he learnt how to enlarge his shard, but still didn’t know how to make it multiply.

Wouldn’t it be great if he could summon hundreds and hundreds of Katana’s like Winhest and his paper ability?

Sure enough, nothing comes easy.

The fact that some of them can already make their shards split into 2 is already an astronomical feat for Bloodren 10s.

It seems that their batch had quite a lot of specially talented people since most Bloodren 10s learn the Shard Duplication a year or 2 after entering the Organization.

To get to Winhest’s level, one must have trained for hundreds of years... or... be extremely talented.

If a 7-year-old girl can be Department Head, it meant talent and ability was all that mattered. Some spend 900 and even 1400 years to rise to her position.

Although Winhest didn’t say his age, Levon felt he might be far younger than his peers. He might still be in his early 30s or 40s... but probably no older than 50. Yet he reached a stage people had to wait

Well, this was enough training for today.

Hmm?

Sitting up, Levon frowned upon hearing a familiar noise he now grew accustomed to. It was daytime, and he could still hear that peculiar white noise.

’There it is again...’

That slumbering voice that plagued his ears since his first official night in the Order.

It sounded like someone was sleeping; and no matter where he went, be it classes, or even out on Punishment, the sound seemed to follow him endlessly.

’This can’t continue,’ Levon concluded, rising to his feet and heading back into the mansion.

It seems it was time for him to investigate the source... no matter what Rabbit Hole it led him to.

After taking a bath, Levon decided to head to the Cafeteria with Artilla.

Shugo was still training in a different room. He told them to go ahead, so they did. As for Rayna and Leo, they already went ahead of them.

"Brother Levy, hop on."

Artilla enlarged her shard, and the dup flew off to the Cafeteria.

Artilla could now keep from stability for 3 hours 27 minutes. It was indeed impressive.

Many times, Levon marveled at how incredulous the Cafeteria was. It was even more intricate just like the medical center Levon woke up in.

A majority of the soaring floor-to-ceiling glass windows faced the outside world, giving them quite a view.

At the same time, there was another internal glass wall that allowed them to peer through down at the many hundreds and hundreds of floors below.

When holding a tray to grab his food, those on the first underground floor below ground floor, could also see him.

To those below, Levon and his group were so high up, looking like Gods.

This was a deliberate move from the Order.... As the divide between the ground floor and the first underground floor looked heavenly. And today, Levon saw a face he hadn’t seen in a while.

HULGA.
