Down below, the fun was truly sensational.
So how could they miss out on it?
With smiles, they took their leaps of Faith.
"Here We GO!"
Jumping from the balcony railing on the 4th floor, they made their descent to the 1st— ground floor—Levon was ready for action.
He was about to take a jab at the Ghouls when he suddenly caught a fleeting look of hatred in Victorio’s eyes.
Victorio hid it quickly, but he was a hundred sure, he saw hatred in those cold eyes when staring at him.
’This guy...’
Levon truly wished to know whether he knew Victorio or not.
Either way, who the heck cares.
His fists hit hard on his target.
Bam!
Twirling his twin daggers, Levon slid between the legs of a ghoul, cutting it up in places no man would want to be cut.
Grrraaaa~
The ghoul squirmed, not realizing it was wide open for another attack.
Dead.
Levon stabbed its heart without mercy or expression. But this little victory was nothing.
’That was close.’
Levon threw his head behind his shoulders, spotting Leo who took care of an unsuspecting Ghoul.
Friends.. Huh.
Well, it felt good to have each other’s back.
Together, the group tackled ghouls, slashing, piercing, poking and jabbing without end.
Levon felt alive.
He could feel his blade gliding through the air at speeds no ordinary human could make.
They exchange with the ghouls for what seemed like an eternity, until—

The voice from earlier echoed again and again.
’Its over.’
Levon dropped to his butt, exhausted and sweaty.
Everyone else felt the same. No one was standing after fighting for so long.
"Buddy, how long was it?"
"I’d say 3 and a half hours give or take."
Leo and Shugo conversed on their backs, staring at the mega chandeliers above.
No one—not even Hendrix and the others, were exempted from fatigue.
The best of them could only release their Shards for 1 hour 30 minutes at most. During the 3-hour long battle, they had to ration out how they used their abilities.

Brmmm~
The group breathed out heavily while listening to the sounds of metal sheaths slowly seeping back into the floors and walls.
The barricade around the building was gone.
Moonlight peered in through the high ceiling windows. Levon felt it was the most beautiful he has ever seen it to be.
There was blood everywhere. The entire place was painted with darkened crimson splatters, mixed with the ashes from the undead.
The war had been won.
Suddenly—
Levon’s head twisted unnaturally, staring at the main door that fiercely swung open.
’Is it another Ghoul?’
Levon’s heart tightened.
"Congratulations." A familiar voice rang. "You who survived."
It was Clara!
As usual, her peculiar hairdo only allowed her nose and lips to be exposed.
"Congratulations, you killed them all. Now for your reward, everyone gets a free inspection from us... After all, we can’t very well have the infected staying any longer, right?"
~Din-Din-Din-DIN.
Almost immediately, the rhythmic sounds of boots marching in unison, could be heard approaching the mansion.
Then, they saw an emotionless lineup of uniformed people marching in with chests raised high.
Clara smirked.
"Listen well, and listen good, cause I’ll only say this once."
Without warning, a crooked dagger floated above Clara, multiplying into 50 all pointed their way.
Everyone’s heart jerked. What was she doing? They could feel the murderous intent emanating from each blade.
"If you know you’re been beaten, stand up now so your deaths will be swifter. Believe me, you don’t want to be inspected and found infected."
She paused, curbing her cruelty with an innocent smile. Only... it sent chills up Levon’s spine.
Even though he knew he wasn’t beaten, his heart still drummed uncontrollably.
Tick-Tock. Tick-Tock.
It’s been 3 minutes and no one has turned themselves in.
Levon thought Clara would wait for at least 5 minutes. But it seems The overestimated her patience.
~SLASH!
One of the Bloodrens didn’t know when he was attacked. And when he realized it: "Bitc–"
Clara acted again, and again... and again and again... and again and again.
The group watched in silence.
This wasn’t torture... it was... it was something else.
Using her daggered shards, Clara had the unfortunate guy pinned and levitating midair, while getting ripped and torn to shreds.
Blood splattered and poured in a gruesome sight Levon swore he could never forget.
Clara formed in disgust, seeing that her pinned-up doll died earlier than anticipated.
Oh well...
She nodded at another, who stepped forward to burn the body till even its ashes vanished.
However she wasn’t done yet.
3 others were destroyed, making a total of 4 infected victims who got burned to oblivion.
"From 153 to 149." Levon muttered.
At this rate, just how many of them will survive till the end?
Levon was deep in thought when he suddenly caught sight of a peculiar thumb-sized crystal white ball floating out his uniform.
The ball had eyes but no teeth.
Artilla and many others also noticed these balls.
"This must be how they’re checking the infected." Rayna whispered. "I saw a pink ball roll out and they killed the first guy... Then it turned white again when it had no contact with his body."
"The colors it changes to might mean something." Shugo added.
"So we know that white is good, and pink is infected. But are there any other colors that can change it?"
Leo shrugged. "Who knows..."
As they spoke, the crystal marbled balls slowly flew towards the team Clara brought in.
Levon’s lips stretched into a smirk, fascinated by the many ways people in the Order handled <Business>.
.
.
AHHHHHHH~
The ear-wrenching screams of 4 were all the group could hear. It seemed like it went on and on, for a century.
If... If it were them who got bitten, this would be their fate too, right?
Soon, the screams died, and the room regained its earlier silence.
"Now then," Clara smiled innocently. "Why don’t we have a little chat?"
The group thinned her lips bitterly.
Do they have a choice in this matter?
"I’m really proud, you know?" Clara’s smile was so bright it could blind the dead. "You did it. You all survived your first Night Drill. But—"
Clara’s smile turned menacing. "Little rodents... Pray tell, what was the second rule I gave you all again?"
Rules?
Everyone’s faces turned grim. At a time like this? During an attack on their lives, you still expect them to follow the rules?
Fufufufufu~
"Come on, let me hear it. What was my second rule?"
"Be detected in bed by 11 PM." Someone blurted.
"Perfect!" she slammed her fists together in a jolly manner. "The rule says, you are all to assumed fast asleep by 11 PM."
"Except for Victorio Louche, xxxx, xxx, xxxx, xxx, xxxx... all of you are awake."
"As far as I’m concerned, those 6 are still fast asleep."
Everyone was taken aback the more they listened.
Them? Fast asleep?
Everyone slowly turned their attention to Victorio and his gang who were clearly awake.
Clara chuckled, snapping her fingers lazily.
"This..."
The red emergency lights were now relaxed with blue lights.
"Lasers?"
"Not quite. You could say it’s something similar." Clara stated. "You get it now, don’t you. Apart from those 6, each and everyone of you triggered countless blue lines since Lights OUT"
Clara slowly turned her back towards them, heading for the door.
"I clearly told you that you must be <assumed> asleep by 11 PM. Yet you all didn’t have the brains to figure it out.... How disappointing."
Clara paused in her steps, throwing one across the room. It’s just that her gaze lasted longer on Hendrix, making him lower his face coldly.
’How did I miss it?’ Hendrix felt his intelligence was being insulted.
Was she saying he was the same as the many buffoons in here?
NEVER! How dare she pair him with everyone else?
Not a lot of things trigger Hendrix. But a doubt on his intelligence was one.
As she walked, Clara’s voice bellowed:
"Well, your intelligence isn’t all I’m doubting. I mean... Three and a half hours?"
Everyone felt cold.
"You took so long to complete such a simple task. What are you, toddlers?" Clara’s face twisted in disdain.
"WEAK. " The could hear the mockery in her voice.
Levon and many others balled their fists.
No matter how stone-hearted they were, the battle they went through wasn’t an easy one. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Pfft.
Clara’s laughter dripped of taunting melodies.
"That’s it? That’s the best your little limbs could do? Huh. Your bodies are sweating just from this little exercise, and you’re clearly burnt out. So how will you all survive moving forward?—How pathetic!"
Reaching the door, Clara paused.
"Well, that’s it. From now on, you’ll get Night Drills once a week. Pray that you don’t get beaten, or it will be the last thing you do in your worthless lives."
"That being said, I suppose I should mention one last thing, before I let you all go—Your Punishment for breaking Rule #2."
