Arc 2, Chapter 47 — A Rigorous Lesson

MUTATION!

That singular word contained boundless information and desire for the group of New Bloodrens.

Winhest swept his gaze across their youthful faces, a sinister smile now plastered on his lips.

"Mutation. Now, that’s simple to grasp. Mutation can also mean mutual benefits."

"Your shards need to mutate and grow for any of you to gain more powers from them."

Winhest didn’t say it, but all shards have egos.

Hence why it’s hard to awaken a high tier shard, since those ones are the most arrogant and egoistic shards of all.

They don’t just rise from their slumbers for just anyone.

One must have the hidden potential and capabilities to make a shard run after them humbly.

As for the mutual benefits part of mutation, Winhest would only touch on 0.5% of the matter.

The rest will be up to them to figure out.

Well now... Wasn’t it more fun for them to experience things for themselves?

Winhest chuckled darkly.

"The first step for shard mutation is Form Solidification and Form Stability."

"They’re exactly what their names say."

Form stability...Form Solidification.

Everyone’s hearts raced as they delved deeper into the mysteries surrounding Shards.

Looking at the Paper floating above Winhest’s palms, they had to admit that he made it look simple.

Dammit!

They gritted their teeth till blood dyed their lips.

It has only been 2 minutes since they began following his instructions; and already, the pain was unbearable. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

SON OF A FISH!

Several people almost lost composure.

The pain... It was incredible.

The pain caused darkness to gnaw at the edges of their vision. Yet everyone still looked ’calm’ and put together.

What a joke!

They were now future superhumans. So how can they afford to lose composure and lose face now?

Hmph!

Many did their best to act cool, bearing it all in.

If not for the protruding veins on their foreheads and the bucket loads of sweat on their bodies, you would think it was a breeze for them.

What a group of masochists.

Amid their pain was a fiery hint of excitement that flooded their senses.

Fufufufufufu~

Shugo laughed hoarsely.

"Can you feel it, Arty, Buddy?" Shugo’s voice was a mix of awe and excitement. "It feels like... Damn it feels good. Too GOOD."

Shugo’s face was cracking underneath the pain, yet he couldn’t stop smiling.

Levon and Artilla nodded, feeling the exact same way.

The feeling they got was indescribable.

For a moment, it was all blissful and addictive. Pain and pleasure... It’s amazing how such things go hand in hand.

But then... Levon frowned.

Something wasn’t right with Shugo.

’Why do I have the feeling he’s struggling with something?’

As if sensing his concern, Shugo wiped the sweat off his forehead with a merry expression. "No need to worry, buddy. My Shard is just being a little stubborn with me... No need to fret."

"A Shard can do that?"

Levon and Artilla were taken aback.

Then again, the entire awakening matter shows that these shards might have characters of their own.

Well, there’s still so much they don’t know.

Provided Shugo was fine, they felt relieved.

.

.

Well, this initial phase hurt like HELL!

They felt it, their Shard slowly reshaping their bodies, infusing bits and pieces of itself in every human structure within them.

The pain was immeasurable, yet no one passed out.

Then, they noticed changes.

Several people looked at their bodies, finding their outer flesh getting torn into ribbon-like stripes.

Dammit, WHAT’S GOING ON?!

A terrifying scene unfolded right before their eyes—Regeneration and Reshaping.

Bone peeked out from their old flesh, but was quickly covered up by newly grown skin cells.

This was too Magical!

Everything happened in under 5 minutes.

They closed their eyes from time to time, feeling their backs straighter and their bodies stronger.

Fufufufufu~

"Looks like you all have succeeded... Even the unlucky ones." Winhest spoke, his eyes subconsciously landed on Levon.

Looking at their fatigued faces, his brownish eyes glinted with a mix of amusement and challenge. "Congratulations. Now, you can use your shards."

Really?

Everyone slowly raised their heads, panting heavily after a successful trial.

Following Winhest’s instructions, they closed their eyes and focused on the shard that had now become one with them.

Soon, they discovered something astonishing.

Images came to their minds, faint images of weapons shrouded by thick white mist.

"I see it!!"

Several people exclaimed, perhaps too shocked by the unscientific scenario playing in their minds.

It was odd the way they felt a sense of true connection with the mysterious objects in their heads.

It was like these weapons were calling on them.

~Whoosh!

Crystal blue diamonds momentarily appeared before them, floating above their palms.

These were their shards!

They were finally able to summon them out!

"Congrats..." Winhest’s voice now dropped to a menacing whisper. "Now, create the image you saw, in all its likeness."

Oh–okay.

Closing their eyes, several people concentrated for what felt like an eternity.

Then success came.

Floating above Yimu’s palm was a single card. She was taken aback, amazed by the elegance of her manifestation.

Hendrix manifested a Fountain pen, and Payne manifested Brass knuckles.

Floriana got a giant scissor, and Rita manifested a Single needle.

Shugo manifested a Fork, while Artilla manifested a uniquely made Fan and an Elegant whip.

As for Victorio, a massive executioner sword appeared before him.

However, in 2 seconds, it turned into an incredibly small tiny dagger, toy-like in size.

It wasn’t just his, but everyone else’s that changed in size and appearance, losing their elegance and magnificence.

"Surprised?" Winhest’s smiled faintly.

"You’ve completed Shard Solidification. But what comes next?"

Everyone seemed to know.

Of course it was Shard STABILITY.

"Look," Winhest continued. "You can’t even form its form for 2 seconds. So how do you expect to win in a fight just relying on your current worthless physiques?"

"_"

"Dismissed."

Winhest slowly walked out of the classroom, with his hands arrogantly in his pockets.

That was it.

Their first class was officially over.

Very fleetingly, he paused and threw his head behind his shoulders deep in thought.

’Truly trash...’

Others could at least keep their shard’s form for 2 seconds, but Levon couldn’t even hold it up for a period of a blink of an eye.

When others are complaining that they were 2-seconds-men... Levon’s case was worse, performing actions in under the blink of an eye.

How Pathetic.
