I Will Survive Till The End: Blood Extermination Academy-Chapter 177: A Strange Day 3
Chapter 177: A Strange Day 3
Arc 3, Chapter 177—A Strange Day 3
.
.
My, my, my... the days have been quite bloody and insightful. Everyone found that in the span of 2 days, their knowledge on Ghouls had grown even more profound than before.
Many couldn’t help wondering about the many folktales going around in the outside world on how to kill a vampire.
Hah!
Levon had personally tested the whole stake in the heart thing on Sultan and many other ghouls, but unless you know the ghoul type and where its Heart(s) are located, then forget it.
What’s more, a vampire’s flesh gets harder the stronger they are.
Ordinary humans and police officers might be able to kill level 1 and maybe level 2 ghouls with a stake in the heart. But it’s impossible for level 3 ghouls upwards.
Bullets might do the trick at this stage. But with how strong vampires grow to be... perhaps bullets would only bruise the flesh of mid-tier upper echelon vampires.
How about garlic? Does it actually work?
Shugo had tested this theory and found it to be completely FALSE. Even the weakest ghoul felt no effect from garlic.
Lies!... all lies!
95% of these theories proved to be Lies!
The group spoke more about what they noticed and quickly rushed to bed. Who knows if the enemy will attack in 2 hours again like they did last night?
No way!—Everyone crashed on their beds, but still slept with one eye open. Yet somehow... The morning of day 3 came, with no attacks from the enemy.
"_" [everyone]
...
Quiet. It was too quiet.
Who can tell them what’s going on here? How come the enemy didn’t attack at all?... What were they up to?
Suspicious!
Suspicious!
Everyone could feel a wave of conspiracy in the air. They didn’t know why, but their hearts couldn’t stop knotting the more they thought of it.
Apparently, their hearts weren’t the only ones with unrest.
Grrrrrrm~
Their bellies rumbled, requesting breakfast from them. Typically, because of exhaustion, they would overlook their hunger, waking up at 1PM.
They would work, knowing that in 6 hours, food will be served. But now, everyone found themselves waking up at about 5~6 AM.
Terrible. That’s 13 hours of hunger.
If they knew those ghouls wouldn’t attack last night, they would have stayed up abbot longer, and trained just after last night’s meal... so that they can wake up late... at least at a closer time to supper.
Alas... Many signed, taking their baths and heading to the Shared space.
"Hey, look!" Someone called their attention to the scenery.
Down below, the scenery was no longer the towering green forest they’ve been used to. Now, the trees and the leaves were completely reddish brown, as though autumn was here, only affecting this part of the land.
Not only that... but the sun’s rays here were peculiarly dull, as though there was some eclipse going on.
Not good! Levon’s heart tightened. ’Under such dim rays, will it actually hold any effect on those ghouls?’
Worried!
Levon was now worried. But it wasn’t just him, as Hendrix also pushed in his glasses with a heavy expression.
Florianna, Bloomingdale, and many others now turned frosty.
Suddenly—DRMMMMM~
"It’s stopping!" Another exclaimed, inertia now cashing the speaker to lean forward.
Levon’s eyes flashed thoughtfully. It’s really stopping. But why?
The time was now a little past 8:30 AM. The sun was already out. Still, they couldn’t very well see whatever was going on from inside their cabins, right?
As if agreeing telepathically, they headed to the roof and met a whole congregation of others on their cabin roofs too. It seems everyone wanted to see what was going on. After all, this was just day 3... and not day 4.
So why would the train need to stop now?
"Buddy, over there in the distance..." Shugo muttered. "Doesn’t that look like a Train station?"
In front of them was a mega suspended train station surrounded by a giant thin film of bubble. The bubble gave the illusion that it could take the entire mega station away to any location of its choice.
Looking at the pillars underneath the station that didn’t seem to be attacked, they felt this theory was possible. Maybe there are pillars scattered around this entire place, where the station can travel to and land whenever it desires.
It seems they have to think of this station as a ship on its own. A ship the size of a castle.... Because that was how massive this train station was.
So if it’s like a ship, then there must be a Captain on board, not only ensuring its safety, but also keeping the ship on course to whatever destination it needs to be at. The bubble might also be what keeps the station free from vampiric attacks.
Levon and many others speculated a lot as the train came to a halt.
Maybe they were wrong, or maybe there was some truth to their speculations. But it was hard to tell, since they weren’t in any position to ask questions.
Just then—
Whizzzz~
The train came to a halt, a good 14 minutes walk away from the bubble-station.
Several people frowned. Why was the train not heading straight through the bubble and into the station?
They watched countless smaller bubbles fly out from the station, heading their way. These bubbles carried balls of bluish Clams that floated above the cabins.
The Clams opened, receiving a white pearl in them
[ Attention Bloodrens, ] a voice bellowed from the pearls. And each time it spoke, the pearls would change color from white to blue.
’So Blue Clam shells are used for communication?’ Levon kitted all this in his heart.
[ A scheduled Rest Time will be given for the train’s sake. ] The voice continued.
[ This test time will only last for 5 hours 45 minutes. ]
The time was now 8:45 AM.... Meaning that by 2:30 PM on the dot, the train’s will begin to move again.
At first, everyone shrugged, feeling that they wouldn’t be leaving the train during this time. So what did it have to do with them?
Well... that’s what they thought at first. But the speaker’s next words caused them to freeze.
[ And just a reminder to you all, the Construction Slimes will be available, for those who have materials ready for repairs. ]
THEY HEARD IT.
Although subtle, several people heard the underlying message loud and clear.
This was just the morning of day 3. They still had ample time to go before they reached their destinations. And during these upcoming hours, ANYTHING can happen, especially during the night.
The smart ones got a wave of unease in their guys, feeling that the enemy has been holding off for so long, because of this final moment.
So you see? A storm was coming. And only a fool would choose to go in without making preparations. Of course... Some groups didn’t think too much, feeling they could hold on longer without the construction snails. But Levon’s group wasn’t one of such groups.
’We need materials...’ Levon murmured to himself, when watching everyone surprising him.
"Although it’s daytime, our situation is still disastrous." Levon advised, gesturing towards the dim sun that looked like an eclipse. It was so dim, it seemed that the beginning hours of night were here.
Make no mistake, such a dim hue, would definitely pose NO little to no problems to the enemy.
That’s why he said anything can happen anytime. With such frail rays, the enemy can choose to attack now and have them fight for over 40 hours straight... or they can choose to attack later.
Either way, the fact that they were now in a dangerous situation, was enough to make everyone cautious.
"This time, Levon chose to take Leo, Shugo, and several strong people from the other group, while leaving the 2 injured, Artilla, Rayna and 2 others behind.
No matter what, they must keep guard in the Cabin and protect the fort.
At the same time... Levon’s eyes dimmed thoughtfully, especially when looking at some menacing stares from the old Bloodrens in other cabins.
"Hand in your Token badges. Artilla will keep them safe till we are on the road again."
Several people were about to reject his order, but Levon only placed a finger on his lip and pointed towards other cabins around them.
Oh my God! Why were those old Bloodrens 10s looking at them and other newbie 10s like that? Did they dig the graves of people’s ancestors or something? Why were these Old Bloodrens so hell bent on adding chaos to their already tough situation?
This time, no one protested, handing in their token badges for safekeeping.
Artilla shrugged, collecting and zipping the badges in her uniform coat pockets.
It was clear that none of these old Bloodrens would dare make a move against her. They bullied the weak and held back when it came to the strong.
—And sure enough, just as Artilla was zipping her pockets, there was a shrill yell from a distant cabin.
