Chapter 148: Lesson Learnt

Arc 3, Chapter 148 — Lesson Learnt

.

Well, they were all perplexed.

They were just running now with ease, feeling Winhest’s task was somewhat easy this time. So why did they come out looking like hedgehogs? They didn’t even know when it happened.

???????

Shock and confusion rippled through the group, no one understanding what happened there.

"Should I say well done?" Winhest’s mockery rang in their ears. His tone was condescending, yet horrifying at the same time.

Fufufufufu~

Winhest let out a chortle that could scare away even crows. "You made it through... but still failed woefully seeing as you’re all so unsightly appearances."

Many looked at their appearances, feeling a sense of foreboding. And sure enough, they were right.

"Oh yeah~..." Winhest continued with a wicked grin. "I forgot to mention—the needles are poisonous. But don’t worry, you won’t die."

WHAT?!

A collective gasp erupted from the group. Even Shugo was dumbfounded. He, the Poison Master, couldn’t detect anything?

So what now?

Winhest released a void-consuming grin that seemed to consume all arrogance they held onto earlier.

"In a few moments, you’ll feel excruciating pain. The more needles you’ve got, the more pain you’ll feel."

As Winhest spoke, his paper shards spun around everyone, calculating how many needles pierced each person.

It was shocking to know that Levon got 194 despite seeing everything. At least, he was better than some who had 1000 and even 2000 needles piercing them in all directions. Some even had 200 needles on their heads.

This.. This... How did this happen?!

In no time several boards were erected, with names and needles tallies alongside each other.

Sure enough, Levon was amongst the best, with only 194 needles on his body.

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah... Impressive!... But did you know? Victorio had only 100 needles. And his goons also got good scores as well.

—Following Levon, Artilla followed with 210 and Leo followed with 214.

—Shugo and Rayna were tied at 219.

—Following this, even Hendrix, who acted blindly, had 275 needles.

—Payne had 301, Florianna had 309, and Viren had 310.

—Yimu had 315, Rita and Rolo had 349, and Natalia had 357.

—For the Old Bloodren 10s; Batista had 321, Potchmay had 366, Bloomingdale had 372, Redclar had 408, and Gorgendoyle had 410.

Those in their group’s didn’t follow too far behind, ranging from 400 to 600.

But that was far better than those with 2000 and even 7000 needles on their bodies. Once the poison takes effect, how in heaven’s name will they survive?

Winhest said it won’t kill them. But who is to say the pain itself won’t make them wish they were dead instead?

...

Winhest’s paper shards took out all needles. Soon, the group returned to class...But while in there, Winhest just stood there, tilting his head for an entire minute.

"Well now, it seems that it’s almost time for—"

~BAM!

Winhest didn’t even finish his sentence before they fell. Some dropped to their knees, while some fell on their bellies and others on their backs.

IT HURTS! fгeewebnovёl.com

Levon felt his vision burling and his teeth clenching.

Dammit! It stung like a thousand vipers!

Around him, his gang also writhed on the ground with pale and clammy skin. Everyone felt it—a burning sensation that spread through their veins like wildfire.

Levon could only speak for himself when saying 194 needles were no joke! His limbs grew heavy, with sweat pouring down his face as he struggled to stay upright.

Slowly cracking down, Winhest had a hand underneath his chin in amusement. "Look... Unless you all die, you won’t really learn. So isn’t this pain a good thing?"

’GOOD MY ASS!’ Many inwardly cursed to the skies.

Of course, there were some who had subtle expressions while listening. "Learn what?"

Heh. Winhest grinned. "How to sense them. But then again... Didn’t I teach you this before?"

Amidst their pain, jaws dropped.

When? Since when did he teach them? Sorry, they had no recollection. The Old Bloodrens were even more anxious.

Hello? Is this how you do things? Even their last year’s teacher spoke more in one sentence than this guy.

It was just day one for them attending Winhest’s lecture, and they already felt like squaring off with him.

Many wondered: Did Winhest teach these Newbies how to sense those needles?

Levon’s eyes dimmed subtly—of course he did. But truthfully, do you call that teaching? He only said it in passing as if it was a nonchalant and unimportant matter.

"Class dismissed!" Winhest didn’t care about their painful protest. "See you in 3 days..." That was how long it will take for them to fully Recover!+. But why should he over explain this matter?

What does he look like? Their babysitter or something?

If they can’t even grasp such a simple understanding from his swords, then what do you expect him to do? Chew it and spit it out to them like a mother Hen does for her babies?—NO WAY!

With that, Winhest was Gone... Their cruel instructor had left them here collapsed and in pain.

Just then, a face they hadn’t seen in a while, appeared like a rodent poking its head out a sewer.

It was the boy who was sent out of class earlier by Winhest! He snuck in after Winhest left, ruthlessly checking the pockets of those Old Bloodren 10s who took his Token.

"You!!~"

They cursed but could do nothing.

~BHA-HAHAHAHAHAH.

"My Token! My Token... My precious!"

The boy kissed the Token cherishing, before running off. No doubt he should be heading for the Mansion to keep it locked up in his Locker.

Hmph!

You’d have to kill him before he can take the Token out again.

A few others who had their tokens stolen, wished they had the enemy to these hateful bullies and search for their Tokens too. Sadly, they were in so much pain that just keeping their eyelids lifted was a daunting task.

Help... they too wanted their tokens recovered.

Who will help them now?
