Chapter 108: Just One More To Go

Arc , Chapter 107—Just One More To Go.

.

.

"Rules, rules, rules. All Order rules are for sure important rules. However..." A burly voice sliced through the air. "You and I know that SOME rules are but a fragile construct for the WEAK."

"Agreed." Another added. "In our world, strength reigns supreme."

In simpler terms: rules can be broken by strength.

"I want her, and don’t tell me about any bloody rules." A female coterie gestured. She was interested in Florianna.

Pausing, she slowly turned her attention to face Winhest. "Though you bested me last time in our little battle, I hope you don’t delude yourself into believing that your good fortune will last forever."

So what if the rules stipulate that Winhest gets the first few picks? Change is the only constant variable that one can guarantee in life. And since she wanted Florianna, she was ready to go all out to get what she wanted!

"Oh? Change huh? So you think you now possess the strength to go up against me?"

Winhest’s voice was low, dark, and forbidding—a tone that promised chaos yet to come.

"I have to say, it’s been far too long since any of you have challenged me. However, I can’t say I blame you all entirely."

Winhest’s lips raised morbidly. "I can only blame myself for being too calm and inviting, making you all mistake my authority."

....

In another cubicle, Viletta, Sayako and Rika, also mused over the fighters on the stage.

"It’s a pity," Rika began." Too bad they can only be transferred to those Departments 1, 3, and 4... I would’ve liked to snatch that little cutie down there."

"Eh? Sister Rika, you aren’t talking about the sleepy sister... but the big meathead brother, right?"

"Yeah," Rika stared with a ghostly grin.

Such a little cutie...

Anyone who knows Rika, the Maniac researcher, would know she had a thing and an experimental eye for people like Payne Ignier.

She was the head of the weapon Research and Shard Care department—Department 8, in charge of researching all sorts of shards, making breakthroughs one by one.

Rika had to say that although Payne’s Shard brass knuckles looked simple, don’t be fooled. They should be far more complex and versatile underneath the surface.

Sure enough, in the next second she saw the brass knuckles contract and retract in a way that turned the air around him into a weapon.

It seems the many buffoons watching the match down below hadn’t noticed it yet.

"Look closely," Rika gestured. "They can’t see it, but there are over 25 wind fists forming in the air."

Viletta blew a whiff of smoke, also seeing fists of all shapes and sizes hovering around Payne.

He really brings the notion of shadow boxing to life.

A simple tweak of Payne’s fingers could result in his opponent receiving blows from nowhere and thinking it was the work of a Ghost.

Payne was only a Bloodren 10, and he could already do this much.

So imagine what he will be like when he reaches Bloodren Zero, graduates and officially joins the ORDER as a True Bloodren?

BAM!

Their clash was symphonic violence.

Payne Ignier’s Brass knuckles met with Florianna’s silver scissors with an explosive impact that sent shockwaves across the floors and arena.

Woow~

Many blinked exaggeratedly.

The concrete cracked, metal screeched, and the very air seemed to vibrate with their intensity.

Alright, this battle was worthy of being in the top 3.

Florianna’s scissor blades danced on its own while oozing off sparks of electricity from the magnitude of her attacks.

Five seconds left. They had to go all out.

BOOM!

Payne’s punch and Florianna’s scissor blades met with such perfect synchronization that they effectively canceled each other out, sending both combatants sliding backward.

Breathing heavily, the duo remained laying on the ground with broad smiles plastered on their lips—Worth it!

(Silence)

The arena fell into a state of knee-deep silence.

What can one say in such times? There were no words to describe the scene.

"CALL!" The host announced, after inspecting both fighters who were still laying on the ground.

But what’s this? Florianna had fallen asleep again?

The host was amused. Mind you, he would never have such patience for anyone who fights below the top 2 battles.

But he had to admit that these 2 were worth his patience. Think of it as an entertainment investment.

"DRAW" The verdict was out.

Some battles are won by not losing. And now, they both qualified to enter Phase 2!

What a brilliant display.

Delweather, Cerine, and several other Bloodren 9s licked their lips in aftertaste.

Can you feel it? Can you feel the goosebumps now cloaking their bodies? Even their ears had scaly goosebumps all over.

Despite being Bloodren 9s, they felt the addictive urge to fight these 2.

One of Delweather’s friends, Obadiah, the 4th most powerful Bloodren 9, cracked his neck as though about to jump into the arena.

"Well, it was worth the watch." He concluded.

There were times when silence played a heavier role than overly excited roaring.

Some closed their eyes, as if savoring the battle’s taste in the air. Some tapped their heels, fingers and palms with an intoxicated look.

’Florianna Micosumi, Payne Ignier... I will remember you.’

.

.

In a flash, the duo left the arena in a state that was far too broken to be used.

Well, this much was expected.

Another 10-minute-break commenced, followed by the appearance of strange giant snails that trailed into the arena’s stage from a special door.

As snails, you would think they would be slow, seeing as they were enormous in size. But this is where you would be wrong.

They moved so fast, with reins in their mouth and staff on their oddly colored shells.

Watching from the Fighter’s locker room, Levon was again amazed by the diversity of peculiar creatures in the Order.

In no time, the snails were on the arena’s broken floors, passing through the rubble, breaking larger chunks and compressing them into the surface.

Then, they spewed slug-like slime from their bodies, cementing it all down.

What was fascinating was that the various colors on their shells would look up one by one depending on what functions they performed.

When they broke down larger stone rubbles, the violet color stripe running across their shells would light up dimly.

Except for the Bloodren 10s in the group, everyone was more or less used to the appearance of these Construction snails.

Their antennas were curled and curved in different shapes, representing the type that they were.

Snails with spiral, curling, long antennas, were friendly, and used by the Order for quick fixing and construction.

What?

Did you think they had time to use the methods the outside world used for construction?

Every single building here, including the walls, was fortified with special mucus and substances and various creatures, plants, and raw materials cultivated here.

It was also far stronger than concrete, or any combined building strategy the outside world can offer.

—All done.

The Battle floors looked as good as new, with that near-impossible to spot ring also put in place.

Good. Now, onto the next.

In the back room, Hendrix slowly got to his feet, alongside the Ice queen herself. That was what many called her, since her face was often stone cold and expressionless when in the presence of others.

Battle 2—Artilla Ferra Vs Hendrix Von L.

The floating box made sure everyone knew their names.

Oh? Some people massaged their chins thoughtfully.

"So this Hendrix guy is the master of Payne Ignier? How fascinating?"

"Hendrix huh? Judging by the way he moves and the aura he spews, there’s no doubt he’s from an aristocratic family."

"That Von L?.... I’ve heard that name before. If it’s the one I’m thinking of, then the boy’s family is akin to royalty. The Von L, short for Von Lamberg family, is not a family anyone in the outside world can mess with. They are linked with all major power maniacs of the world.

"Hold on, the chick’s name is familiar too!"

"Yeah. That name, Ferra... I think it’s the Ferra clan, an old ancestral clan of ninjas. They are also a dark family surrounded by mystery."

"Well now, it seems we have royalty in the arena."

Fufufufufu~

Many spoke with low chuckles escaping their lips. These 2 sure were special.

Artilla Von Ferra vs Hendrix Von L.

Hendrix walked out of the tunnel with a book in his hand, and his glasses seated firmly on the bridge of his nose.

He slowly turned a page, having finished reading the bit on the other page.

Many Bloodren 10s in the crowd realized that this wasn’t the book he was reading 3 days ago.

What was going on? Just how many books did the higher ups stuff in this guy’s locker? Since day one, they’ve seen him with over 24 books they’ve seen Hendrix read so far.

Artilla on the other hand, walked out with nothing in her hands except for a bulging ball of lollipop in her jaws.

This was one of Levon’s. It was Levon’s favorite strawberry Lollipop, the one he couldn’t live without.

Well, he had a hefty supply in his locker, so he gave her one as a sign of good luck today.

Everyone’s expression turned subtle as they watched the duo make their way to the stage.

Just one more battle... One more battle before the Battle 1 commences.

My, my, my... Their hearts were about to explode.
