Chapter 132: Chapter 132: You dumb kitten

Sanya ran down the road to Qin Zhuzhu’s apartment. She had been calling her all day, but there was no answer.

What will that silly girl do? Sanya ran up the stairs, lifting the hem of her skirt as she gripped the railings for support. Reaching the door, she knocked loudly while calling out.

"Xiao Zhu! Xiao Zhu! Are you there?!"

"Keep it down! I’m trying to rest!" one of the neighbors shouted from their window.

"Tsk!" Sanya glared at the neighbor. Then she saw Qin Zhuzhu walking back alone.

She quickly rushed over to her, worried.

"Don’t you know it’s dangerous for a girl to walk home by herself? What if someone tries to harm you again? Do you know how worried I was?!" Sanya sounded like a worried mother scolding a child.

"I’m fine," Qin Zhuzhu said, unlocking her door and tossing her purse onto the bed. Then she sat down on the rug.

"You don’t look fine at all. In a few days, it’s the final round for the fashion designer selection. Qin Zhuzhu, you can’t lose!" Sanya tried to cheer her up.

"And you say you didn’t care for him? Why lie to yourself?" Sanya scoffed softly.

"What did you say?" Qin Zhuzhu asked.

"Nothing. I’ll stay here with you. If you want to cry and let it out, just do it," Sanya said, pulling her into a supportive hug.

Silent tears slipped from Qin Zhuzhu’s eyes. She didn’t understand why she was reacting this way. She had grown so comfortable with Shentu Jing’s presence—his strong arms wrapping around her waist, sharing the bed with him for innocent sleep.

Sanya’s phone rang at that moment. She looked down and saw it was Shentu Mingye, that "dumb kitten."

"Shit!" Sanya cursed.

"What’s going on?" Qin Zhuzhu asked, stunned by her reaction.

"That Shentu Mingye wants me to go to his villa and help him sneak out. I’m not going!"

Sanya gritted her teeth and was about to type a reply when Qin Zhuzhu said, "Why can’t he come out on his own?"

"Who knows what tricks he has up his sleeve?"

Given what had happened, Qin Zhuzhu deduced that a huge change was underway in the Shentu family.

She knew Shentu Mingye was close to Shentu Jing.

Could it be that Shentu Chu locked Shentu Mingye up? But for what reason?

"Wait, delete your message. Give me your phone," Qin Zhuzhu said, quickly wiping her eyes with her sleeves.

"Sure," Sanya said, not understanding why but doing as she was told.

She watched as Qin Zhuzhu replied to his messages. Her eyes widened!

"Why did you tell him I’m coming?" Sanya looked at her screen in horror. That Shentu Mingye was hard to deal with.

"What are you afraid of? Just punch him again if he tries something bad," Qin Zhuzhu said casually.

Sanya thought about it and then said, "You’re right."

"Let’s go," Qin Zhuzhu said, grabbing her keys and purse and heading for the door.

"What? Really? Now?!" Sanya looked at Qin Zhuzhu with a surprised expression.

"You’re not going to let your tears out?"

Qin Zhuzhu glared at her, and Sanya quickly shut up.

When the news reported that Shentu Jing had died in the plane crash, Qin Zhuzhu felt like something was missing from her life. It felt as though her life had been destroyed. This was a feeling she hadn’t experienced since her grandfather passed away in the hospital.

"You’re here!" Shentu Mingye rejoiced when he saw Sanya.

"I can’t believe I’m doing crazy things with you," Sanya said, crossing her arms and looking up at the window.

"Sister-in-law is here too!" he cried joyfully when he saw Qin Zhuzhu approaching.

"Don’t call me that. Our relationship was fake," Qin Zhuzhu replied coldly.

"Really? But my second brother really liked you! By the way, do you believe that my second brother is... is really... dead?"

"Do you?" Qin Zhuzhu didn’t answer and instead asked him.

"Not really. In case you didn’t know, second brother used to work in the military. He was part of peacekeeping operations and has some military skills. But it’s hard not to believe the news. They even found some burnt bodies..." Shentu Mingye’s voice was low.

Qin Zhuzhu looked at the phoenix ring on her finger.

"Don’t get distracted! That means there’s still hope, isn’t there? They haven’t officially identified him! Come on!" Sanya broke the sad silence.

"You’re right! We shouldn’t lose hope. We need to keep fighting," Qin Zhuzhu said.

"Fighting!" Shentu Mingye encouraged himself.

Then he looked around and scratched his head.

"Where’s the rope?"

"You’re going to jump down," Sanya said with a smirk.

"What?! You’re trying to kill me!" Shentu Mingye punched the air.

"Keep it down!" Qin Zhuzhu hushed them.

Then she took out something that looked like it was made of plastic and started arranging it below his window.

"What is this?" Shentu Mingye looked at the two girls with horror. What are they planning to do? Maybe I shouldn’t have asked them to save me.

"A trampoline, dumb kitten. Can’t you recognize it?" Sanya unfolded the object and took out a pump.

"But why a trampoline? Sister-in-law, what’s the meaning of this?"

"A rope would attract attention. See that camera over there?"

Shentu Mingye looked where she pointed.

"The rope would be in the camera’s line of sight. But if you jump while we release a bird to block the camera, no one will know you’re gone," she explained.

"Ah, sister-in-law, you’re very smart!" he praised her, giving her a thumbs-up.

"So, are you going to jump or not?" Sanya challenged him.

"Fine!" Shentu Mingye crossed over the ledge and took a deep breath. By now, Qin Zhuzhu and Sanya had pumped enough air into the trampoline.

Sanya took out a birdcage from the car’s trunk.

"On the count of three. One, two, three, jump!" Qin Zhuzhu said.

Sanya opened the cage, and the birds flew out.

Later that night, Qin Zhuzhu unlocked the door to her apartment.

"You can stay at my apartment for a while," she said.

"I don’t think that’s appropriate. How about I stay at Sanya’s?" Shentu Mingye said, looking at her mischievously.
