"Well, well, well, look who decided to show up." Sam said, foiling Uriel's attempt to hide behind a wall.

"I was busy," He stepped outside his would be hideout as soon as the crimson glimmer disappeared when Medusa shut her eyes to make it safe for him to get nearby. Then Uriel continued speaking pretending the fact that he was spotted didn't irk him. "It's been a long time."

"Not as long as you think." Sam chuckled, his handsome face eerily illuminated by the gleam of his eyes. Uriel didn't miss the fact that Sam was barefoot, but his feet wouldn't touch the ground as he hovered above it probably thanks to the orichalcum earring.

Still, he wondered just how much flux energy did he possess since before Water warlock joined him, Sam would have trouble to keep it active for more than a few minutes.

"If you're still here, then I guess Medusa's trait doesn't affect you."

"Your guess is correct." Sam replied in a solemn and arrogant tone of voice, making it clear he thought himself to be above the rest of them.

"And if we're still here, it means you don't mean to kill us... correct?" Uriel dubiously asked.

"Who knows..." Sam spoke as his golden eyes gleamed a little brighter, a sign that he was deeply enjoying himself and wasn't worried in the slightest.

"Cut the crap, we all know you've had many opportunities to kill us. I don't know what game you're playing, but we took a risk staying behind just to save you. The least we deserve is the truth. Do you want to take control of this city? Make the perfect soldier? Build a dungeon?

Why are you doing all this?" Uriel's voice was the complete opposite of Sam's as he attempted to convey how worried he was for his friend, only Sam didn't take it that way.

"Save me? Save me from what exactly? I took control of this city within hours of coming back and no one even tried to stop me, but even if they did there was nothing they could have done to get in my way. I don't need saving. You, on the other hand..." Sam's voice had risen in volume and intensity, but then he let out a sigh and decided to answer Uriel's question.

"I dabbled with some experiments, but I'm sure you already know they failed. Whenever a weak doppelganger attempts to steal a trait too powerful it simply pops like a soap bubble, on the other hand, nosferatus, wendigo s and eclipses don't possess a body which makes breeding hybrids impossible. About creating a dungeon... well, you're not wrong, but that's just a happy consequence of my actions.

I know you're aware of it by now, so don't bother playing dumb."

"If that's true, then it means you brought us here for a reason." Luna stepped forward and spoke blatantly as it was her custom, then Medusa butted in.

"Why are we here, Sam?"

"You caught me, the reason why I brought you all here is because I want to bargain."

Uriel thought of all the possibilities trying to figure what Sam wanted before he said it. So far, he'd been ten steps ahead of them, but if Uriel managed to understand what did Sam truly want it would give them the advantage and make a difference in the outcome.

Uriel didn't know the reason why, but he thought back at the time where he spoke with the nosferatu, it gave him the exact same feeling, like he was talking to an ancient being instead of his friend.

So far, Sam had made so many different movements both in human society and the cryptid world that keeping track of them was impossible. Uriel knew there had to be a connection, but finding it was like finding a strand of hay in a stack of needles. It was just as difficult, but maybe more painful as the amount of data he needed to cross reference was too much.

"You know exactly what we want, now tell us what do you want from us and let us be on our way." Medusa muttered.

"That's not how things work and you know that. Where would be the fun in this if I spoiled it for you. I'll let each of you name something that you won't give up, if that happens to be the same thing I want then I won't ask for it anymore. If it isn't, then it means you don't care about it that much anyway and you should be able to give it to me."

Uriel's first instinct was to name the orichalcum dagger, since Water warlock used to reside in it and he thought maybe he wanted it back, but then he second guessed himself. The dagger was worthless as a weapon and just because it contained Water warlock for eons it didn't mean it could be used to trap him against his will.

Uriel knew the purpose of the dagger was to allow Water warlock to hide in waiting for the 'strongest warrior' and not to trap himself. Water warlock claimed he made the dagger himself and it would be absurd for a craftsman to create the object of his n demise.

"Why the need to play a game?" Medusa asked, to which Sam replied with an uncanny smile.

"Humor me."

"Then, I'll name the Pegasus." Medusa said.

"Interesting choice, I didn't want it in the first place." Sam nodded.

"My research." Luna muttered and Sam's eyes widened for a second, but nodded nonetheless.

"I want to ask you something first." Uriel spoke calmly when he realized the only reason why Sam would ask them to name the thing they loved the most was to take it from them in order to hurt them. The Sam he knew and loved like a brother was nothing like the man in front of him, which al;so meant they had no reassurance that he would actually stick to his word.

"And why would I answer to any questions you have?"

"Humor me." He replied with a sarcastic smile.

"Guess I don't have a choice then." Sam replied showing the palms of his hands pretending to be helpless.

"How did you see Water warlock inside of me? You spoke directly to him, didn't you? What did he say? Can you still communicate with him?"

"That's a lot of questions, but... whatever. I take you won't be satisfied if I just say it was because of my trait so I'll explain a bit better. Back then, on Easter island, right after you killed my offspring and then fought each other, I was left on the verge of dying. It allowed me to see past the veil, I saw the dungeon inside the dagger you're holding inside of you and I was able to see him too.

I can still see him whenever I want in case you're wondering, but I can't speak to him... or rather, he won't speak to me."

"Then I'll name Nika." Uriel replied with a confident grin. He knew it because he experienced it before. He knew that for whatever reason, Water warlock was helplessly infatuated with Nika.

"No!" Sam shouted as he channeled his tremendous flux energy. "You weren't supposed to say that!"

"But I did." Uriel shrugged his shoulders, knowing that Sam's outburst was nothing but a tantrum and he would be unable to harm them.

"Change your answer! Do it and I'll make you rich beyond your imagination..."

"Nope, I figured it out, I figured everything out." Uriel mimicked Sam's arrogance in an annoying way just to return the favor.

"You leave me no choice but to kill you then." Sam replied.

"You know exactly how things went back the last time we fought, you ran with the tail between your legs."

"That's not true, I flew away with the flock and..."

"Cut the crap, I know you're not Sam," Uriel glared at the 'Sam' in front of him, knowing he wasn't wrong. "You're the horror rank skinwalker, aren't you?"

"Now you're speaking nonsense." Sam laughed so confidently it made Uriel doubt his own words, but then Medusa butted in.

"It would make sense. Even when Water warlock was inside you, deep down you were still the same Uriel and we all know Sam has always been a pervert and a coward. It would make sense for him to send someone in his stead while he watches from the distance."

"What reason is there for me to be afraid if you can't even affect me with your trait?" Sam scoffed, but now it was Luna's turn.

"I heard howls coming from the distance, but I didn't find the source. I thought it was Cassie, but I couldn't find her. It could have been a skinwalker mimicking the sounds to keep me distracted."

"If that's the case, then why did he want us to get far from each other? What does Sam have to gain by keeping us separated?" Uriel asked leaving behind any doubts he may have had.

"Are you guys listening to yourselves, now you all sound deranged!" Sam tried to interrupt the conversation, but the hunters ignore him altogether and continued their discussion in spites of his efforts.

"Sam want us alive, but he doesn't want us to keep working together, then it means..."

"He doesn't want us meddling in his business. He's keeping us distracted, which means we can still do something to prevent whatever it is he's doing."
