Chapter 844: Good deed

Wu Long smiled.

Showing strength always had a twofold effect. On one hand it scared off most people so he didn’t have to bother with them.

On the other, it could attract certain people who have something to prove, like this guy.

“Let me give you an advice kid”, Wu Long calmly spoke, “It might be amusing to you to rile up your opponents with provocations, get under their skin and watch them burn with more and more anger while they can’t do anything to you, but that’s only when they can’t do anything to you”

“You decided to spare him?”, Hong Yue asked, seeing as he gave advice to the young man, and that would have been useless if the latter were to die here. By now she learned Wu Long didn’t really like doing useless things.

“Mm”, Wu Long lightly nodded, “He’s young, he still has an opportunity to grow up decently. Just needs a bit of a lesson no one in his family seems to be able to or willing to give”

The cocky grin that was visible from under the hood slightly faded. Not only were Wu Long’s words dismissive, but even Hong Yue’s assumption he needed to be spared was so matter of fact and natural, as if the alternative didn’t even needed to be considered.

“Haha, kid? Someone seems to have taken roleplaying their Seniors a bit too far. I admit I tried to get a reaction from you, but it’s not like I was completely dishonest either. Those beauties do look exceptionally good… How about it, ladies? After I’ll show you what a real Heaven’s Chosen looks like, you won’t be able to see that loser with the same eyes. I’ll give you an opportunity to decide if you want to come with me to the Great Fang Dynasty then”, the traveler from a great dynasty then spoke with a renewed grin, doubling down as now getting riled up from his side would be ‘weak’ and a ‘loss’.

He didn’t realize Wu Long wasn’t even playing a game of wits of who riled up who with him, but talking sincerely.

“I do enjoy an occasional roleplay, not in these circumstances and with ladies exclusively though”, Wu Long chuckled, “But I’ll indeed be taking up the role of your life lesson today. Though unfortunately for you, spanking is also reserved for ladies only and other circumstances, so you’ll have to make do with a ‘slightly’ different lesson”

“Haha, I see, you’re just delusional!”, the young man desperately clung to the grin on his face to not lose the ‘battle of shit-talking’ he alone was having, “It seems this Young Master needs to teach you a lesson of his ow-…”

But as he was talking, he noticed Wu Long’s calm eyes were staring at him from within an arm’s length away.

‘Eh? When did he….?’, the young man’s mind stirred as his brain froze, unable to comprehend what his eyes were telling him.

Wu Long’s figure then rotated and became smaller, and then he belatedly realized it was his vision that turned upside down, and it was he that was moving away from Wu Long.

His chest burned with intense pain, feeling as if he was a Mortal hit by a boulder.

“Lesson number one, is that you need to pay attention”, Wu Long spoke calmly, not yet lowering the palm with which he sent the man flying in a spinning motion, crashing into the stone wall of the chamber. His left hand continuing to be held behind his back.

“You-…~!”, the young man quickly got up, but couldn’t finish as his throat was grabbed, and pinned back to the wall, pushed up to slide up the wall with his back. His body seemingly lost part of its connection to his brain, as it only gave off sensations, but did not take commands, staying still.

A horrified look appeared in the young man’s eyes as he never felt so powerless in his entire life. He was basically at Wu Long’s complete mercy.

“Lesson two is that, as I said earlier, but you didn’t pay much attention then, shit-talking your opponent to get a reaction is only fun when they can’t do anything to you”, Wu Long continued to slightly constrain the breathing.

“Kkh-..hh”, the young traveller seemingly struggled to regain control of his body, his eyes and reddening face showing intense activity of his mind, but a profound flow of Spiritual Qi coming out of Wu Long’s palm into his neck completely shut off the head from the rest of the body.

“Lesson three, is that if you came to me respectfully requesting a challenge that you wanted, you would have gotten a far better treatment and possibly learned something in terms of your skills”, Wu Long then revealed the reason he decided to spare this young man, since what he wanted was just a challenge, not a duel to death.

While the attitude was just immaturity caused by lack of parenting and/or slightly harsher life lessons, not real malice.

If left alone and unchecked, if that attitude continued to go unpunished, it was very likely the young man would either die when he challenged someone he shouldn’t have, or worse, gain actual power and become a scourge on the society with a sense of impunity, overinflated self-importance and entitlement, as well as quite sadistic and narcissistic tendencies, worst of all backed by strength and achievements which would make him a role model for other immature kids.

Now, however, was a perfect opportunity to avoid either of those scenarios.

“Lesson four…”, Wu Long’s words stopped abruptly.

“Hmm… lesson four…. lesson four is… is lesson four. Figure it out yourself”, he then finished as the three ladies who also were waiting for the fourth lesson almost stumbled while standing still.

Wu Long threw the young man to the side like a rag doll, the latter crashing into another wall to the side.

“Khak~… kha~… huiu~!!! Khu-khak~…!”, the young man stumbled up coughing with choked wheezing in between, struggling to catch his breath, “Khe~… hii~… y-you… khu-khu, you cheated! I-… hii~… wasn’t ready! Kha-khu~…”

“Come at me then… ah, at your leisure, catch your breath first”, Wu Long calmly nodded, fully understanding it wasn’t over with just this. It wasn’t over while the young man could still find excuses.

The look in the young man’s eyes was a mix of fear and venomous resentment at the deep humiliation as he coughed and looked at Wu Long with involuntary tears in the corners of his eyes from being choked.

He wiped his face with his sleeve after a bit more catching his breath, his eyes burning with a desire to make a comeback, a 1st-tier Profound Grade saber appearing in his hands.

The surroundings changed a little, as the three beauties felt the young man’s Saber Intent. It had a different feel to it from Wu Long’s, not just in strength or quality, it had an inherently different ‘identity’, as each Weapon Intent was unique to the user.

“Take out your Saber”, the young man spoke through gritted teeth.

Wu Long simply stood with both hands behind his back, calmly watching him, no longer bothering to talk as he said all that he wanted to before.

“Tsk… making fun of me to the end…! … I said take out your Saber!”, the traveler shouted in fury.

However, seeing Wu Long’s unchanged pose and expression, he seemed to understand something.

“Hah… you really are so far up your own ass?! Still thinking you’re some Elder teaching Junior a lesson?!”, the young man shouted as even more frustration built in him, “Then don’t blame me when you’re dead! But just so you can tell the Yama King in the afterlife who killed you, my name is Tukong Lianshu! The Second Young Master of the Tukong Family of the Great Fang Dynasty!”

There were, however, still no changes in Wu Long’s expression or pose.

‘Those eyes… ‘, Tukong Lianshu thought as he watched Wu Long, finding the look in his eyes hard to bear.

It was not arrogance or superiority, as that he could still handle. It was something else. Something that caused him to feel small and insignificant.

It was genuine goodwill. As if Wu Long was really giving him an important lesson.

And at the same time there were no signs of any kind of frustration or even a hint of annoyance, not even as little as slight competitiveness.

Tukong Lianshu instinctively understood, even if he didn’t want to admit it, that Wu Long was truly peaceful at this moment, and at the same time to an extent indifferent.

This made Tukong Lianshu’s desperation to prove something even more vain and unsightly in comparison. That look of someone who didn’t have to prove anything to anyone was burning through him.

“Fuck!!!”, Tukong Lianshu shouted at the top of his lungs as he reached peak rage at the same time as he finished a long charge of Spiritual Qi technique that Wu Long for some reason let him do without interruption, “Steel-Cleaving Fang!!!”

A Spiritual Qi image of a Demonic Beast appeared behind Tukong Lianshu as he raised his saber, and then sucked into the blade’s edge as he rushed forward.

And then he swung down…

“H-how… is this possible…?”, Tukong Lianshu’s eyes shook in shock and disbelief, and then gradually, returning fear.

Wu Long’s open palm rested against the blade, stopping it completely in its tracks.

In fact, Tukong Lianshu felt a numb pain in both arms as he received a full recoil. It was like striking an immovable indestructible object, which created an enormous burden on his hands, wrists and arms.

“Weapon Intent is indeed a tremendous power”, Wu Long calmly spoke, “But there’s a catch in that it becomes completely useless against someone whose comprehension of that Weapon Intent exceeds yours by a large margin”

As he spoke, his fingers gently wrapped around the blade, and as Tukong Lianshu belatedly came to, and tried to take it back, it was already stuck, completely immovable, without even a tiny bit as if becoming one with a whole mountain of steel in front of him.

His panic grew exponentially as he tugged with everything he had, but was unable to get it to budge even a nanometer.

Wu Long let go of the blade, and Tukong Lianshu stumbled back, falling to his butt.

His lips trembled in horror as Wu Long’s calm figure, with the same unchanged expression and gaze, suddenly looked completely different to this young man’s eyes looking up.

“T-Thi-…this i-is not possible…. it’can’t be true… this can’t be happening… I-… I d-defeated E-Esssence Awakening Realm experts-s-s… I-I even drew even with a-a ff-first-level E-Essence G-Gathering Realm expert using that t-technique and my Saber Intent….”, he stuttered as he spoke, his whole body shaking, as he started backing away without standing up.

Or rather, his fear paralyzed him so much he didn’t think to stand up.

“W-What kind of monster are you?!”, he then shouted as he looked at Wu Long who finally made a step forward.

Wu Long walked in a calm pace following after the panicked retreat of his opponent, and as Tukong Lianshu’s back finally hit a wall, with nowhere to run, started to close distance between them.

“D-don’t come closer!!!”, a hysterical shout from Tukong Lianshu was followed by pointing his saber at Wu Long, but the latter simply grabbed near the tip of the blade and forcing it out of the young man’s hand with a simple and light, effortless tug, threw it to the side where it landed with loud metallic clangs.

“How are you going to learn your lesson then?”, Wu Long asked as he came even closer.

“I-I learned! I learned! I-I was wrong! I realized it now! I was completely wrong!!!”, Tukong Lianshu spoke, raising both hands in front of him in a last desperate defensive action, cowering a bit to the side.

“Haha, far from it. It’s not so easy. Life lessons like these have to be painful, only then someone like you can truly learn from them, as well as remember them”, Wu Long smiled, an expression which made the young man shudder in abject horror.

“You seem to be in good mood”, Hong Yue noted as Wu Long was walking with a smile while humming a tune, leading them further into the ancient ruins.

“Mm, it feels good after doing a good deed”, he chuckled with a nod, as the three beauties behind him exchanged looks.

Hehe ^^

Wu Long is so kind, isn’t he?
