Chapter 71: The Setting Sun

Lily woke up from her nap hearing birds chirping and the sun on the other side of her face. Opening her eyes she could see the sun just above the mountain range to the west as the landscape came into her view. The ground was lush and the harvest crop was ripe for the picking. She remembered healing the ground, but it all seemed fuzzy in her mind.

Dimitri had let her sleep in his lap the whole time which surprised her a bit. She looked up at him seeing the peaceful look on his face as he slept. Nature was calling so she leaned up to his face kissing his lips softly to wake him. It took a moment for him to realize what was happening, but when he seen who was kissing him he wrapped his arms around her to deepening the kiss.

Letting her go hearing her giggles he smiled at her the bright look on her face telling him that she was alright. "Now that’s a way to wake up. Thank you, by the way." Dimitri gave her a questioning look as she explained. "For letting me rest. I know you wanted to survey everything more. I would have been okay sleeping next to the tree, you....." She didn’t get to finish the sentence before he kissed her again silencing her.

He kept her mouth occupied for a few minutes teasing her lips then deepening the kiss again. Coming back up for air they were both panting when the sun set behind the mountains darkening the skies. "We should get going. They may wonder where we are and I need to check my pack supplies before we head out tomorrow."

Dimitri nodded as she moved to stand up first as she was still sitting in his lap. She stood then stumbled a bit before catch herself on his shoulder. Steadying herself, Lily stretches trying to get the feeling back in her limbs. The light was shining on her for a moment emphasizing the lines of her body while she stretched giving Dimitri quite a sight.

"Woman, if you don’t want me f*cking you into the dirt, I suggest we get moving." Lily looked back at him with a huff letting her arms fall hearing this. "Your the one looking!" She stuck her tongue out at him before walking away a bit to look at the plants, distracting herself. He smirked getting up sneaking over to her wrapping his arms around her.

"That’s right. I look at what’s mine and just have to have it." She giggles turning in his arms while wrapping her arms around his neck. "You can have me for dinner, but I could use a rinse first." He leaned in running his nose along her neck and chin smelling her wonderful scent coming off her skin. Trailing further down her neck over his mark he felt her skin rise with goose bumps from his attention.

"Hmm, you’re a tease. Come on now." Lily wanted to push him away and tried to sound convincing, but she had yet to let him go and he hadn’t stopped smelling her. He bite down just above where his mark was on her skin causing her to gasp and arch into him. Shed pressed herself closer as he left strawberry marks along her neck tempting her more with his touch.

"Aaaah!" Dimitri bites down one last time right over a sensitive patch of skin almost making her knees give out. "Can’t wait for dinner." Letting her go he handed her his robe walking to the middle of the clearing the last rays of the sun shining over his defined masculine body only had her wanting him more. The sight of him in all his glory reminded her just how lucky she was to have him.

He shifted to dragon form waiting for her to climb up on his back. Lily always admired his dragon form with all the blue hues reflecting on the landscape. He really was a beautiful creature. Walking over to him he laid down so she could straddle his neck better. "Let’s go." Lily patted his neck as he launched himself into the air.

She always held her breath when he dd this, but once in the air she felt like she could breath again. A thought came to mind and she wondered Dimitri’s thoughts about it. Touching his neck she opened their link to his mind. *Is there a chance I could change into a dragon too? I tried to shift into a wolf, but it never worked.*

Dimitri thought on this for a moment before answering her. He never thought she would want to try, but maybe it was possible as her father was the stronger one of the two parents. Seeing her use some of her powers most have been from her mother or that’s what she told him.

*Its very possible. We can try it out when we leave the village.* Lily was excited about the possibility of shifting and flying. She loved flying on Dimitri’s back, but she knew it would be a whole new experience flying by herself. *I wonder what I’ll look like?*

Dimitri chuckled at her antics happy that she was in a good mood. *Don’t be too disappointed if you can’t shift. I hope you will, but like you told me you just didn’t feel it when trying for your wolf.*

Lily agreed since it was very devastating at the time. She was in a very vulnerable state on top of those tyrants constantly beating and commanding her to do everything under the sun. Now it may be different or maybe she was always meant to have a dragon and not a wolf. She did technically grow up with her father, even if she didn’t know it was him.

*I am hoping this time is different. Plus I never reached for a dragon before.* Seeing the mansion of the Elder of the village Dimitri lands next to it, shifting upon landing. Lily slid down beside him holding his robe out for him. He was getting used to her helping him when he never accepted help before.

She pulled out a set of sandals that where his size dropping them on the ground in front of his feet. "I thought you might like those. I know the ground out this far can be rough on the feet." He slipped them on, finding them comfortable as he slipped her arm through his making their way to the mansion.

"Thank you. The boots are a bit much to carry and these are surprisingly comfortable." She smiled glad to have gotten him something he can actually use. One of the nobles ran out of the mansion catching them off guard. "My Prince, more supplies came and the queens cousin left today. She said to give you this."

A scroll was handed to him with a seal he hadn’t seen before. "Thank you we will be in momentarily." The servant bowed walking back inside. "What could it be? Do you know this seal?" Lily looked at the seal having a vague memory of it, but she had a hard time placing it.

"I might, but I think I’ve only seen it once. Open it." Dimitri opens it reading through its contents his expression changing as he reads. "What? What is it?" Turning the scroll over to Lily she sees a family tree for the Wolf Clan. It was old, but well cared for. "This must be the evidence she told us about proving her identity. You can’t destroy archival family trees like this not even a god has that power. She must have stashed it and brought it with her here."

Dimitri nodded having the same thoughts himself. "She knew we would keep it safe until the time came for her to take back her throne. Vestis has destroyed enough lives and he will pay for it." Lily agreed hearing the conviction in his voice. "I just hope we do it fast enough before more damage can be done. He’s had years on us and we are just scratching the surface."

He pulled her in close kissing her forehead. "Don’t worry we will find the answers. We are on the right path and finding more allies then we thought were even out here." She nodded wanting to believe they could fix what he almost destroyed. "I hope your right. I have a letter to write to my father. Do you think one of your men could make sure he gets it and brings it back with the next shipment?"

He nodded as they entered the mansion to the great hall, the smell of food permeating from the kitchens. The sounds of laughter and joy reached them filling Lily’s heart knowing she helped to put those happy faces there. "I am glad we stopped here. These people really needed our help and we gave it to them." "Me too." He leans down to kiss her, happy that they are making a difference together. freewēbnoveℓ.com
