Chapter 295: First Floor Admin (2)

Suddenly, a cackling sound broke the silence. Out of thin air, a chibi-looking man appeared, floating a few inches above the ground.

The man was small, no bigger than the size of Adrian’s palm, with exaggerated features of a goblin and a mischievous grin. He wore a tiny suit and had a pair of bat-like wings to help him fly.

Adrian was a bit taken aback by the admin’s comical appearance. He had expected another angel like Zelina to appear, as he thought all of them would share a species. But he was wrong.

"Who summoned me?" the chibi man squeaked, his voice high-pitched and grating. "I have a lot on my plate, you know! I don’t have time to be called on a whim!"

"I called you here," Adrian replied, getting off the bed. "I was hoping you’d-"

The chibi man fluttered closer, inspecting Adrian with a critical eye. "Well, Mr Arnold, why did you call for me? Make it quick. I have important matters to attend to!"

Adrian smiled inwardly when he heard that. As expected, the admin had a lot on his plate. After all, Adrian was the one who had created all the chaos in the first place.

However, he didn’t like the way the admin was talking. After spending ten thousand points to summon the creature, Adrian thought it should at least show some decency. But Adrian had his way of dealing with him.

He decided to test the waters. Reaching into his inventory, he threw another 5,000 points at the admin. Instantly, the chibi man’s demeanour changed. His eyes widened, and his voice took on a much sweeter tone.

"Oh, my dear sir!" he cooed, fluttering around Adrian with a subservient smile. "I hope I didn’t offend you earlier. You are my most prized guest! So please tell me, how can I assist you today?"

"What should I call you?"

"Answer that question will cost you another thousand points."

Adrian sighed inwardly, confirming his suspicion that the admin was indeed a greedy bastard. He had expected as much because someone who wasn’t greedy would never side with Olympus in their illegal ventures.

But right now, this greed worked in his favour. As long as he kept throwing points at the admin, he could get all the answers he needed.

"I need information," Adrian said, crossing his arms. "Specific information about the factions within the tower, particularly Olympus, and their current activities."

The chibi admin’s eyes sparkled. "Oh, but of course, sir! Let me tell you everything you need to know."

He floated down to sit on the edge of Adrian’s bed, looking oddly out of place in his chibi form.

"Olympus is one of the most powerful factions within the tower. Recently, they have been expanding their influence, trying to gain control over the new entrants along with the lower floors."

Adrian couldn’t believe how forthcoming the administrator was. He had always suspected the admin was aligned with Olympus, but it turned out the administrator’s loyalty was simply up for sale to the highest bidder.

Money made the admin talk, and whoever paid the most had their loyalty bought, leaving Adrian surprised by how easy it all was.

"And what about their leaders? Who are the key figures in Olympus?" Adrian asked, tossing a thousand points the admin’s way.

"Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon are the primary leaders," the admin replied, counting them off on his tiny fingers. "Each of them holds immense power and influence. They are always on the lookout for new talent to bolster both their personal ranks and for Olympus as a whole."

"What floors are they on?"

"I’m afraid that information might cost you a bit more-" The admin grinned, clearly enjoying his role as the information broker.

Adrian didn’t think about anything and offered five thousand points for the information. The admin bowed upon receiving the points before answering.

"Zeus and Hades are on the 39th floor while Poseidon is trailing behind on the 32nd floor," the admin said, rubbing his hands together in anticipation of more points. "Is there anything else you would like to know?"

Adrian thought about it for a moment before asking about any secrets the tower’s first floor might have. As soon as the admin heard the question, his entire demeanour changed.

"Know your place, mortal," the administrator replied, his voice as cold as ice. "Push your luck again, and you’ll regret ever crossing paths with me."

For the first time, the admin’s response was befitting of his role. But it also meant Adrian couldn’t use the admin like he thought he could.

"My bad," Adrian admitted, wanting to change the topic, and suddenly it hit him.

He grabbed the ???’s egg from his inventory and showed it to the admin as he asked, "What do you know about this egg?"

The admin flew in closer and even brought out a miniature monocle to analyse the egg.

"Hm... what a strange specimen," the admin mumbled, and his eyes sparkled with interest. "Someone might have found themselves a treasure."

’Treasure, my ass. The motherfucker just ate my sword like kebabs were skewered on it.’

<You tell him, Master! Don’t be afraid of an egg!>

Adrian hoped to learn more about the egg, but the admin didn’t bother extending his comment. But to his credit, the admin did not even ask for money.

"I can answer another question for you as compensation for not answering your previous question," the admin commented. "However, this would be the last question."

"...Devas, what do you know about them?"

"You know about them, huh?" muttered the administrator. "Let’s see. The Devas are a peculiar bunch. Unlike Olympus or Asgard, who are busy expanding their territories and setting up strongholds on every floor, the Devas are more like wanderers."

"They’re not interested in fame or wealth, and are here to live, nothing else. Also, unlike other groups, there’s no specific way to join them. They invite people randomly. That’s all I can tell you right now."

"That will be all for now," Adrian said, handing the admin another 2,000 points. "You’ve been very helpful."

The admin bowed, his tiny wings fluttering. "Anytime, my dear sir. Anytime you need help, just call for me."

With that, the chibi admin vanished as suddenly as he had appeared. Adrian sat back down. He had a feeling the admin and he would get along just fine as long as he had the points to pay him.

"The administrator’s indifferent attitude means I can meddle with Olympus however I want without facing consequences. It’s exactly what I was hoping for."
