Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer-Chapter 253: A Ranker Worth Fighting (2)
Chapter 253: A Ranker Worth Fighting (2)
"So... why did you do it?" Adrain sighed, shaking his head.
[The entity, Sin of Sloth, smiles nervously and says, I wanted to learn more about my favourite User.]
"..." Sophia smiled, clenching her fists.
Even though she was smiling, Adrian could see the nerve bulging from her forehead. He didn’t know about it, but Sophia was a bit possessive of him, and it only got worse after they reunited.
It’s just that Sophia hadn’t found a competitor by then, so she didn’t need to go full yandere mode. Unfortunately, she couldn’t do anything about an entity crushing over Adrian.
"Is that it?" Adrian asked, ignoring the murderous looks Sophia was giving him.
[The entity, Sin of Sloth, vigorously nods her head.]
After her response, Adrian didn’t know if it was a bad thing or not. Entities having interest in him was a good thing, or so he thought. But invading his private life like this was a bit too much, even for Sloth.
At the same time, George was gulping drink after drink. Even though he could see Adrian and Sophia talking with a screen, he still couldn’t believe it. Since his sober mind couldn’t process the news, he decided to get drunk.
"If you wanted to know that much, you could have approached me from the beginning," Adrian shrugged. "After all, you were only banned for a few days."
[The entity, Sin of Sloth, shakes her head and says, That’s not the case... after what happened with Belial, all entities with demonic lineage have been banned from viewing your channel... directly.]
Adrian frowned upon hearing the news. It didn’t make sense for an entire section of entities to be banned just because Persephone went berserk. But then again, it was probably Hera’s doing to ensure no demon could get to him before she had her revenge. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
’She’s being cautious.’
<I disagree, master.>
’What do you mean?’
<It’s possible Hera is planning something and doesn’t want any entity to warn you about it. She is being cautious, but not for the reasons you’re thinking.>
Lucina’s words made sense. Adrian couldn’t ignore Hera. After all, she managed to turn the admins in her favour and got the entire hell banned from watching him. She wouldn’t go through all that trouble if she weren’t planning something.
But the realisation only caused more confusion. If something was about to happen, why was Sloth lying about it by saying she merely wanted to know more about him? Could it be that she wasn’t allowed to talk about it but wanted to warn him anyway?
Something was off with how she replied to Adrian’s queries. Even though she was using George to talk to them, she sounded like something was troubling her.
’She can’t speak freely to me, but she can talk freely to one of her disciples,’ Adrian thought, looking at George as he poured another drink.
Adrian had already used the [Query] tab to ask about it when he was first offered to become [The Mother Who Loves Her Plants]’s disciple.
Other entities can’t view communications between an entity and its disciples or apostles without the permission of the apostle and the entity associated with them.
In other words, if Sloth became someone’s guardian entity, she could open up about what was bothering her without any worries. Since Adrian had no intention of choosing Sloth as his guardian entity, it had to be someone else, someone capable of keeping secrets.
"Stop drinking for a second," Adrian yanked the glass out of George’s hand before turning towards Sophia. "Could you get me a pen and a sheet to write on?"
Sophia nodded and left. Once she was gone, Adrian lightly slapped George, sobering him up a bit.
"What!? Why did you hit me?" George replied, staring in the opposite direction to where Adrian was sitting. "You want to fight!? COME ON!"
Smack!
This time, Adrian slapped him harder, and soon enough, George was again in their realm. He blinked twice, focusing on Adrian.
"So you remember the codes we created to communicate during exams and cheat?"
"Blasphemy! I never cheated!"
"Sure you didn’t," Adrian replied, rolling his eyes. "I want you to accept any offer Sloth will give you. Can you do that for me?"
Sloth was confused by Adrian’s plan, but she quickly understood and offered George a deal to become her apostle.
Adrian was well aware of the strength Sloth’s apostle could have. While he didn’t want George to go to that extent and turn into a warmonger, adding him to his little group would benefit both him and George, whom Sloth had forcefully awakened.
"What are you talking about?" George asked, but there was no time to explain everything to him.
Adrian grabbed his hand and made him accept Sloth’s offer, turning George into a hunter like them. George was blissfully unaware of what he had signed up for when his newfound powers rushed inside him, sobering him completely.
A lot of information was displayed in front of him, but Adrian insisted that he ignore it all. They didn’t have much time before the other entities caught on and caused an issue.
By then, Sophia had returned with the things Adrian requested. Adrian placed the pen and paper before George and asked him to write whatever Sloth told him, using the codewords they had come up with in their school days.
At first, George was confused as things were happening too quickly. But as Sloth began telling him all she knew about Hera’s plan, he understood everything.
Adrian told George to use the codewords because he couldn’t afford to let Hera or her lackeys know about it. He doubted they could read George’s writing because of his horrible handwriting, but he didn’t want to take any chances.
Eventually, the entities caught on, but they couldn’t do anything. After all, Sloth was merely talking with her disciple. Even the admins couldn’t tell her not to do that.
"We need to hurry," George said, handing the paper to Adrian.
Adrian took one look at the paper and rushed out of the villa with Fenris at his toe. He didn’t bother explaining anything to anyone and told Sophia to protect the place.
"What was that all about?" Sophia asked George, who shook his head.
"I’m afraid I can’t tell you about it," he said. "Call it attorney-client privilege."
