Chapter 238: Press Conference (2)

"They are here!"

"Come on, switch on the camera. What are you waiting for!?"

The hall erupted in camera flashes as the reporters got busy taking all the shots they could. The girls were busy getting mesmerised by Adrian as taming Lucina had increased his charm, and he didn’t even know about it.

With their natural allure, the girls effortlessly captured the hearts of the men present. Even the cameramen, despite their instructions, found themselves drawn to the girls, snapping more of their pictures than Adrian’s.

It was Adrian’s first official appearance in media, so everyone went berserk, and had it not been for the Misty Sword guild members, the media would have already swarmed him with questions.

However, not everyone was excited about Adrian and his group’s visit. One person was discontent like no other. Lucas Oliveira, an A-rank tank/mage hybrid who came to the USA after joining the guild, was discontent with the newcomer’s welcome.

Lucas had to clear several dungeons to prove his worth, and even then, he never got such a welcome. But someone like Adrian, who failed to clear his first dungeon, was welcomed into the guild like a messiah.

"Ease up, Lucas. You’re going to kill him with your looks alone," Lucas’s blonde sister Felicia Oliveira said, caressing his bald head. "Cool it. It’s not like thinking is your forte."

Lucas shot his sister a dirty look but remained silent. While only a B-rank assassin by profession, Felicia commanded more respect in the guild than her short-tempered little brother.

It wasn’t wrong to say that people were more scared of her than Lucas, who was pretty easy to take advantage of. But there was one more thing Lucas was mad about.

"...how can I be calm when he is touching my idol!" Lucas gritted his teeth.

Like many others, Lucas was a fan of Sophia’s songs and held her in high regard. But watching Adrian acting intimate with her filled him with even more rage than before.

Felicia sighed and rolled her eyes. Unlike her brother, Felicia wasn’t interested in songs or anything of that sort. The only hobby she had was for cutting up people into pieces and rearranging their bodies.

But she was still a woman, and Adrian was just the type she liked to break. But unlike Lucas, she knew her limits. The moment she even tried touching any of them, John would have her head, and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

"That doesn’t mean I can’t play with him..." Felicia remarked, licking her lips.

While everyone was preoccupied with Adrian’s presence, they overlooked the sleeping Fenris in A’Mila’s arms. It was only when Fenris jumped on Adrian’s shoulder that everyone noticed her.

"Aw... so cute!"

That was all it took for everyone there to start fawning over Fenris. But there were people who weren’t fooled by Fenris’s cutesy appearance.

Predominantly, the summoners with the guild were interested in Fenris as it was unlike any other creature they knew about. However, they were even more surprised that Adrian was a summoner, and one of the reporters asked him about it.

"I’m not a summoner," Adrian replied, scratching Fenris’s ear. "This little girl here is my pet, not a summon."

"A pet from the other world?" one of the reporters asked, referring to Nexaria as the other world.

Adrian nodded. But the reporters were unrelenting and wanted to keep asking questions until John intervened, telling them they could ask their questions later during the conference and that Adrian had to meet his guildmates first.

Although not pleased with the interruption, the reporters knew better than to piss off John and stepped back, allowing Adrian and his group to meet with the guests.

Following John’s lead, Adrian and his group met with the important guests and the Rankers first. They thought Adrian would be arrogant. After all, he was a billionaire with the potential to become beyond an S-rank hunter, and on top of that, he was surrounded by beauties who were A and S-rankers!

But he was a pretty chill guy, taking everyone by surprise. Not only he but everyone in his group behaved like straight-A students would act in front of their teachers.

Eventually, they reached where Lucas and Felicia were, and Lucas grinned, offering his hand to them.

"Welcome to the guild, Mr Fenrir," Lucas roared over the loud hall. "I’m Lucas Oliveira, the guild’s go-to tank for high-risk raids."

Adrian smiled back, shaking Lucas’s hand. He knew the man probably had issues with him because his aura leaked like crazy. Although Lucas was smiling, it was more of a murderous grin.

<Beware human, that ape is panning something.>

’I know Lucina, but thanks for the heads up.’

Lucas had introduced himself as a tanker, but Adrian knew there was more to it, as no tanker would have such a dense aura. But his suspicion turned to reality when the system informed Adrian that someone was trying to cast a curse on him.

But unlike Adrian’s expectations, the curse was a simple one.

’A food poisoning curse. This is the best he could come up with?’

Well, if Lucas wanted Adrian to humiliate himself, it could work. Besides, it would be difficult to prove that someone had cursed him as it was a common disease and could be written off as such.

Unfortunately for Lucas, two could play that game, and given that Adrian had Fey’s magic core, he could easily make the curse rebound on the baldy, which is precisely what he did.

By the time Lucas was done casting the curse, it rebounded and hit him instead. The next moment, Lucas was busy puking his guts all over the expensive carpet as everyone looked surprised.

Lucas stumbled backwards, then stepped on his own vomit and slipped, tumbling headfirst into the mess he had created.

<...I hate to admit it, but serving you is more fun than I expected.>

’You should have seen what I did before returning to earth.’

[Countless entities are laughing at a certain mortal’s misfortune.]
