Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Salary Hike

For a moment, she almost rushed there and tried to stop the kiss, but Adriana backed away on her own.

She only had the chance to have a glimpse of Henry from the side, but one look was enough to tell Aurora, that he wasn’t a simple character.

Fragile and harmless. These are the type of people who always create trouble for others and act all innocent.

Returning home, Aurora saw Adriana sitting in the living room.

She didn’t dare to confront Adriana directly.

Her eldest sister had a stubborn personality.

If Aurora tried to give 100 reasons as to why Adriana should stay away from Henry, Adriana would probably find 1 reason to stay.

Love-sick people are like that.

Instead, she returned to her room and waited for Emily to contact her.

There were certain things that Aurora had asked Emily to do, and Aurora wanted to know them first before reacting.

A knock sounded, and when Aurora opened the door, she saw Emily.

Once inside, Emily waited for Aurora to sit down before starting to report,

"I tried to wire $10 million to Alex, but he has refused to accept the money and is requesting to know why you, no...Miss Dawn was helping him so much."

Aurora kind of expected the outcome and said,

"Um, then arrange a meeting between us. The sooner, the better."

Emily nodded and instantly wrote something on her iPad. Then she continued,

"I did a background check on Henry and his ex-girlfriend. Unfortunately, his girlfriend doesn’t like to click pictures, so we still don’t have her photo.

I did get her name and family background. Her name is Adeline, and she has a rather tragic background...

As for Henry, he has a sister and a mother. His father was a rich heir who had gotten his mother pregnant and abandoned them.

Since then he has developed a strange kind of obsession of becoming rich and rubbing it to his father’s face."

Aurora tapped her fingers on the table, thinking. "So Henry wants revenge on his dad?"

Emily nodded. "Yes. He wants to prove he’s better than him."

"But why is he dragging my sister in it?" Aurora questioned. "Doesn’t he have the ability to climb on his own? B*stard. Just want to become rich while slacking off."

"One more thing." Emily said hesitantly, "Adriana has given him $5000 without making him write any IOU’s this afternoon."

Aurora’s fingers froze mid-tap. Her eyes darkened.

"He already got money from her?" she asked, her voice low.

Emily nodded. "Yes. And it looks like he didn’t even have to try that hard."

Aurora let out a sharp breath. "That idiot," she muttered. "She’s too soft. He’s playing her like a fool."

Emily stayed quiet, waiting for her orders.

Taking a deep breath, Aurora said,

"Collect more evidence against Henry. I want to expose him in one go."

Emily nodded.

When, even after 2 minutes, she didn’t leave, Aurora asked,

"Anything else?"

"That...Aurora, can I ask you something?" Emily said hesitantly.

"Sure." Aurora nodded her head.

"How did you change suddenly? I mean...I do understand that you were in a coma, but the killing intent you had in your eyes that day was something else.

Even your martial arts...it seemed as if you had trained in it for more than 10 years. You were so skilled that even men who were double your size and weight got knocked down by you."

Aurora blinked. She had totally forgotten about that.

"I..." Aurora started only to stammer. Even she didn’t know the answer to it.

When she fought against Jasper, it was purely based on her instincts.

Aurora’s hands clenched into fists. She had no answer.

She wasn’t a fighter. She had never trained.

But that day, her body moved on its own, as if she had done it a thousand times before.

Emily watched her, waiting.

Aurora forced a smile. "Maybe it was just adrenaline."

Emily frowned.

"No way. Adrenaline doesn’t make someone fight like that. You were too fast, too precise."

Then she pointed out the fact even Aurora didn’t remember,

"You even found mistakes in Alex’s business proposal, but you have hardly completed your Junior High school before falling coma."

Aurora froze.

Right. That had happened, too.

She had looked at Alex’s business proposal and instantly spotted mistakes. Things she shouldn’t have known.

Aurora wasn’t stupid, but she had never studied business. Yet, when she read that proposal, everything just... made sense.

Emily crossed her arms. "Aurora, this isn’t normal."

Aurora bit her lip. "I know."

She wanted to deny it, to say it was just luck, but deep down, she knew it wasn’t.

Something had changed.

Her body. Her mind. Her instincts.

It was like she had woken up as a completely different person.

Emily sighed.

"Are you sure you don’t remember anything? Like, anything weird when you were in a coma?"

Aurora hesitated.

Well, a weird thing did happen. She was transmigrated into a completely different world, but didn’t she return within one day?

"I don’t know," she admitted. "I just... I woke up, and I was different."

Emily studied her for a moment, then nodded.

"Okay. If you ever figure it out, let me know. If it is too concerning, we should contact a doctor. For now, let’s leave the matter. "

Aurora exhaled, relieved that Emily wasn’t pushing more.

For now, she had bigger problems to deal with.

Like Henry.

And the fact that her sister was already giving him money.

Aurora’s jaw tightened.

"Try to get that money out of Henry’s hand." She ordered.

Emily nodded.

Aurora thought of something and said,

"Keep an eye on the law students of this year. Let’s open a law firm."

Emily was taken aback by Aurora’s sudden request, however, she noted down the details and nodded.

"Also, your salary will be $1 million per month. You are a great assistant." Aurora praised.

Emily was taken aback and asked in disbelief,

"$1 million per month?"

Aurora nodded.

"Yes. Ah! One more thing, how is my father doing?"
