Chapter 49: The GyroShark

A couple of months ago, this same group of people had gathered to mock him on the day of his arrival. Now, they were bowing in acknowledgment of his strength. He remembered the advice he received from Marsai: "Your only viable path is through domination. To convince people of your worth, you’ll need to subdue them."

"The witch was right," he thought as he walked forward and was immediately flanked by the trio. A tactic understanding was shared between them as to what the chain of command was on this mission.

Narnia was a storm-ravaged island surrounded by crashing waves and jagged cliffs. The dense jungle provides cover, while parts of the island have been flooded due to the feral biocores water-controlling abilities. After taking control of the island twenty years ago, it established its nest in the ruins of the old command base.

Cyanide presented a screen to Nioh that displayed the state of the ruins and the location of the Feral beast.

The beast was an S-class GyroShark. The last sightings, five years ago, had evaluated his strength to be around five stars, but the beast on the screen was steadily approaching the sixth. The was a humanoid creature with a shark head, metallic reinforced teeth, and a giant fish tail made of steel. Its skin was very thick and very hard to penetrate, but the most challenging part was fighting an S-class water controller in the middle of the ocean.

While the live stream was going crazy with theories, Patrix was the first, to ask "Little uncle what is the plan?"

Nioh faced him and replied, " There is no plan, we jump that motherfucker."

In front of such a monstrosity, no trick would be effective.

"Frontal attack is definitely my style," Patrick replied.

Nioh looked at the crowd and spoke." Thank you for answering My call. This island for too long has been a symbol of shame and failure, for our fiefdom. So today this the chance for you to reclaim the honors of our predecessor who fought for this. Today is the day, we get back our land. Today is the day we conquer. So, challenger, this is a command from your Prince. Today Naria is ours"

"Cheers erupted" as the challengers prepared for the assault.

Patrix morphed into his Mecha, a human-shaped, red and gold machine, with sleek titanium muscles that bulged with each breath. The Mech towered over fifteen meters, and with the morphed axe in hand, it gave the appearance of an ancient species called gorilla.

Cyanide’s biocore turned into a green flying machine, with a translucent pair of wings and a sharp stinger. Whereas Cryo morphed into a slender five-meter-tall humanoid machine, colored white with intricate, cold patterns on its shell. A bright blue halo resonated around its chest, and the matching color bracers sent a chill down its surroundings.

Give me a lift!" Nioh barked, leaping onto Patrix’s lowered axe. Before Patrix could even fully straighten, the mecha’s arm blurred, a swing so powerful it seemed to wrench every fiber of metal in its frame. The axe screamed through the air, a projectile aimed squarely at the GyroShark.

It was the signal. Instantly, Cryo shot forward, gliding on a trail of ice. Cyanide blasted into the air, leaving a toxic cloud behind. Patrix, with a jump that shook the ground, launched himself after the axe. All three mecha raced towards the GyroShark, each one desperate to reach it first, driven by the urgency of the attack and the need to keep up with Nioh on the flying axe.

Nioh was the first to come into range of the GyroShark; his focus was unperturbed by the constant spinning motion of the axe, he had one goal: hit hard.

"Ekoh!" he alerted. Upon receiving the signal, Ekoh changed the amplitude of the surrounding gravity waves.

The hurling axe turned into the weight of a mountain and descended upon the hibernating predator like a guillotine.

Alarmed by the intense killing intent, the shark slid its massive body across, barely dodging the fatal blow, but the axe still struck the base of its fish tail.

Cyanide was the second to arrive. While the shark was roaring in frustration, his mecha flew around in amazing pirouettes, shooting a barrage of corrosive darts, the venom eating away at the weakened tail plating.

The gyroshark spun around smashing its limbs into the water puddles around it to create a shield, but Nioh caught on to its intentions.

"DON’T LET HIM’ GO INTO THE WATER" he yelled as he ran toward the beast, scythe swinging.

A blue blur, dashed by the ruin freezing all the water bodies around. Cryo successfully blocked the escape path of the feral biocore.

Nioh directed a few more swings of his scythe, sending wave after wave of piercing sound strikes toward the beast. Its thick skin remained unpenetrable, it was enough for Nioh to charge a Stronger attack.

His chest bulged from the air stored in like an Olympic swimmer and a devastating roar was unleashed from his scream. The power sent the Gyroshark staggering, giving space for the shadow lurking in the ruin to deliver a blow.

Patrix’s mecha dashed with unmatched speed and jumped on the writing fishtail. Cryo who was right behind, sent a cold beam, freezing the tail mid-motion with his bracer.

Patrix and his bulging titanium muscles grabbed the axe embedded into the fishtail, and it one powerful motion delivered a final axe cleave—SEVERING IT COMPLETELY.

Cheers erupted in the livestream. The assault had officially started.

The coast of the island was being invaded by feral beasts of multiple ranks, forcing the challengers into a defensive position.

"We have to keep, them here."

"Don’t allow a single one to disrupt the Young master."

"Slay them all."

--

The enraged, GyroShark, slammed both his fists on the ground. The sound of cracking stone echoed across the battlefield, the impact reverberating like a thunderclap. Cryo and Patrix’s mechs were sent hurtling through the air, slamming into rubble with a grinding screech, their reinforced metal bodies groaning under the strain.

GyroShark’s eyes burned with fury as it raised its arms, and with a terrifying roar, a colossal tidal wave surged from the ocean. It was a monstrous wall of water, towering above the battlefield like a living creature ready to swallow everything whole.

The sound of the ocean crashing, the low growl of the wave building into a crescendo, filled the air

"Shit!" Nioh thought, his heart pounding, just as the wave slammed into the ruins with a deafening crash, flooding everything in its path.

The force of the impact sent the ground trembling beneath their feet, as water surged over them, filling every crevice, drowning all in its path. The smell of wet earth and metallic tang mixed with the harshness of seawater, stinging their senses.

The team scattered underwater, disoriented by the force and struggling to stabilize their mechas.

Cryo’s mech reacted swiftly, encasing him in a protective ice bubble that shimmered with cold light. The water slammed against it with an unrelenting thud, the force of the pressure cracking against the shield like a thousand tiny hammers.

Inside, the air grew frigid, the chill creeping into Cryo’s bones as the water swirled violently around him. With a sharp breath, he focused on stabilizing his position, extending his bracers toward Patrix.

Patrix, gritting his teeth, dug his axe into the seabed with a squelch, the heavy weapon anchoring him against the overwhelming tide.

His mech, muscles straining, pushed against the water’s current, resisting the pull.

His body trembled with the effort, every movement like battling a relentless storm, but he held firm, determined not to be swept away.

Cyanide, meanwhile, darted through the chaos, using high tactical maneuvers to evade the crushing wave. His mech, a blur of motion, was pushed out of the combat zone with an almost violent force, the roar of the wave fading into the distance as he struggled to regain control.

The battlefield was now an alien landscape—seawater replaced dirt, and the once-proud island had been drowned beneath the tide. The smell of wet stone and saltwater lingered in the air, mixing with the burnt scent of the mechs’ scorched components.

As the water cleared, Cryo and Patrix stood, the last ones remaining on the battlefield, , breathing heavily as they looked around at the reshaped terrain. Their advantage was gone, swallowed by the tsunami, leaving nothing but a new, twisted battlefield.

GyroShark stood amidst the wreckage, its massive form bleeding dark, viscous fluids. It snarled, fury in its eyes as it hurled water projectiles with violent force.

The sound of each impact was a hollow thunk, like a battering ram hitting stone. The stench of wet, rotting meat mixed with the sharp tang of salt as the creature’s rage boiled over.

Cryo, with icy resolve, focused his power, his bracers glowing as he launched sharp ice pikes into the air. They whistled through the water, each one striking the GyroShark with a sickening crack as it broke the surface of the creature’s massive form.

Patrix, fueled by sheer willpower, exchanged blow for blow with GyroShark, his mech’s massive fists pounding into the creature’s hardened hide. The force of each impact sent shockwaves through the water, the sharp sound of metal against flesh ringing out in the eerie silence of the flooded ruins.

The salty sting of seawater burned in their eyes as they battled not only the creature but also the elements, knowing they had to hold out—survive—until the rest of the team could return.
