Chapter 48: State of the Summer Hunt

A few days had passed now since Nioh met with Xenah. The artificial intelligence was good at processing large amounts of information. He finally had a lead and potential targets in his quest for retribution against Intra.

The priority of the moment remained the summer hunt. After the debacle of the first phase of the hunt, the top performers had recused themselves from the competition.

The alliance had lost Pax and the other duke siblings. The direct line of the Glev had lost the twin princes and the charismatic aegis class Iris.

No further information was shared regarding the state of their mutual teams. And their absence since the beginning of the second phase confirmed people’s doubts.

The hunt has slowly lost its appeal as those strong figures went missing.

The second phase also known as the conqueror phase evaluated the ability of the challengers to overtake feral biocores in their own, habitat. It was the central purpose of the hunt. After defending against hordes of low-level biocores, the challenger now had to venture into the unclaimed territories to hunt, the high-grade ones.

It was a ludicrous activity, although dangerous, the monetary benefits alone were staggering. Land deeds, rare biocores, and precious materials were all for grabs.

The two leading teams of the second phase were Cyanide’s group from the Order of the Crow and surprisingly Patrix Glev the grandson of Duke Tush. The absence of the domineering Pax had offered him room to display some skills.

The conquest map showed good progress from the challenger side but for Nioh, the central piece remained Narnia. His original plan has been disrupted by the abrupt departure of his teammates, leaving him no choice but to restrategize. Narnia, a small piece of land in the archipelago but the only one that had a direct stream to every other island. It was a vantage point that allowed for effective navigation of resources and personnel.

Although it had now become a cradle zone for a very powerful biocore, Nioh suspected that the recent changes in the other biocores activity were directly linked to the island.

For the goal of total conquest, it was necessary to overtake Narnia, to reduce the biocores’ influence.

Lunatic 66: "Something big is happening today."

Evilgod 343: "I heard the Order of the Crow are making a move for Narnia."

Starlord: "Their appetite is growing too big for their skill."

Lunatic 66: "Right? Even Pax didn’t try to attack that place."

Evilgod 343: "I heard chatter that Patrix and his men are moving in too. What is this? An alliance?"

Lunatic 66: "Are they partnering up to take over Narnia? Even with those two, I don’t believe they can succeed."

Starlord: "Maybe there are other powerful individuals joining..."

Lunatic 66: "Who? Prince Nioh and Cryo are still on the challengers list."

Evilgod 343: "Stop dreaming, this isn’t Fantasy Warrior."

Starlord: "Other teams are also moving toward Narnia."

Lunatic 66: "Sorry, but only one man besides Pax can build such an alliance...".

As the first ships broke through the fog-covered walls of Narnia Island, the tension in the air was oppressive. The formerly immaculate beaches, which had not been touched for years, were suddenly the scene of an inevitable conflict. As the most famous competitors came, the live drones flew overhead, recording every move.

Patrix was the first to land, and he did so in style. His futuristic warship, the Horizon Breaker, came down from the sky, its sleek chrome hull reflecting the sunlight like a second sun. Blue energy pulses rippled along its surface, propelling it forward with an elegant sound.

He leaped off the deck with a thunderous boom, his massive figure soared through the air like a comet. He landed on the island with a crash, the impact sent a shockwave through the sand, but instead of a terrifying aura, he smiled—the kind of a grin that made enemies into friends and turned battles into sports.

The mist thickened into a toxic green haze, and instead of ships cutting through the sky like Patrix did, a single, dark figure emerged from its depths. The twin lenses of his gas mask glowed ominously, reflecting the distorted light of the battlefield, and his black trench coat fluttered without wind, creating an eerie contrast to the poisoned stillness around him.

He didn’t need theatrics; his presence was enough. The ground beneath his boots corroded instantly, eaten away by the invisible toxins that were constantly leaking from his body, and even the more seasoned warriors instinctively backed off, their instincts telling them to do so.

As the two major parties of the second phase, their arrival sent waves, within the smaller groups, who were waiting for the powerhouses to take the lead. But instead of charging forward, they waited.

Lunatic 66: "Patrix is HERE! LET’S GO!!!"

Evilgod 343: "Man landed like a protagonist. Look at that smile. This guy’s a menace."

Starlord: "That arm is bigger than a tank. That’s not fair."

Lunatic 66: "Bro is literally flexing on physics."

Lunatic 66: "NOPE. NOPE. NOPE."

Starlord: "Did the temperature just drop? What is this presence?"

Starlord: What are they waiting for?

Amidst the confusion, the royal military ship appeared above the island. It was slicked black, with quiet running machines. It eclipsed every other ship, by might alone. The bright insignia of the Glev forces was floating along with the wind.

With all the eyes fixated on the deck, the sound of cracked ice echoed, as Cryo glided down the ship. He was radiating cold air in his blue armor and bracers as he descended gracefully . They were now three powerhouses of the young generation. Only one was missing and the looks stayed fixated on the ship, hoping for his appearance.

For the first time since the launching ceremony, the royals had gathered again in the lounge. To observe this conquest attempt. Duke Duval, and his son Warden Jubilee; the second Duke Tush and his son Cohen, and the queen.

"Do you know what that, dimwith is up to?" Duke tush asked his Son.

"He didn’t mention anything. He is old enough to make his decisions" the warden replied concerning his son Patrix’s decision.

Warden Jubilee taunted his cousin" Patrix really stood up to the occasion, filling the void left by Pax"

"There wouldn’t be a void to fill if your son was virtuous to begin with" The queen interrupted. "This child has promissed me a spectacle, I hope it is worth it," she continued.

On the screen, the child being refered to was Nioh who descended while floating from the deck. He was suited up in a purple silk combination marked with the Glev insignat and a pure white regal cape that floated as he descended. His scythe glowed a bright golden light illuminating the cloudy island.

As soon as he touched ground Cryo, led the charge by kneeling, in a ripple effect all the challengers knelt and greeted " Hail, prince Nioh."
