Chapter 308: Quiet day (2)

"How is it that I offered a day for me to do all that you say, but it ends up with you acting like a servant for me?" Selene wondered.

The pair were under a large tree, which provided shade from the sun. Selene laid on Xavier’s lap while he fed her what was packed for them.

Xavier placed another berry in Selene’s mouth for her to enjoy. "Spoiling my wife isn’t a bad way to spend the day, and I have many hours to go before the day ends."

"I won’t complain," Selene said, enjoying the treatment she got. "The berries are sweet. Have you tried one? I think they would make a good drink." freēnovelkiss.com

"I have tried them," Xavier said, placing another in Selene’s mouth. "They are good. Aside from the fruits, I have never had so much food that humans enjoy in my home."

"I like most of it. I may stop eating their dishes, but I cannot give up on the fruits. They are too good, and now I want to bake something. Perhaps it would be more to your liking if something strong is added."

"Do you like baking that much?"

"Yes. It is a hobby that I enjoy. I still need to find more hobbies to make my time less boring. My time when I am not with you," Selene explained. "Do you have any hobbies?"

"I do," Xavier said, placing a berry in his mouth. "I have chosen the best one which concerns my wife."

"It is what Francesca suggested, isn’t it?" Selene replied, knowing Xavier too well. "I think that I should keep you two away from each other. You both plot on how to get me to seduce you."

"I enjoy the gifts she prepares, so you must never end your friendship with her. You have reminded me of something I want today," said Xavier.

"I am going to hide any gifts she hands me from you. For a change, why don’t you dress up for me?" Selene asked.

"Don’t I look handsome every day? That is a gift to you. Also, I think you prefer it when I walk around with little to no clothing. I have never missed your gaze. Look at me all you want, Selene. Your attention is all that I look forward to, so indulge me a little," said Xavier.

"I would if not for the way you tease me. I do enjoy looking at you. You are a handsome, charming man who makes me think things that I cannot say out loud. I am looking even when I deny it. You finally have your confession," Selene said, taking a berry to feed to Xavier.

"I never needed you to admit to it since I have eyes. I knew that you were watching me, which was why I kept purposely walking out scantily dressed before you. It is amusing to see you avert your eyes, only for you to be glued to my body when I look away," said Xavier.

Selene grabbed an apple slice to place in Xavier’s mouth to make him stop taking. "You must eat."

Xavier laughed, accepting the apple slice since it came from Selene. "I will try my hardest not to tease you as long as you promise not to avoid me when I seek your attention."

"I think it will be harder for you not to tease me. It is a beautiful day. Why does this morning seem more beautiful than others? After what happened in the town, I am surprised how this day is going," Selene said, looking up at the sky.

"It is a good day because we are not near where most of the conflict happened. It is surprisingly warm while the other days have been cold."

"Perhaps winter doesn’t want to come to this town anymore after seeing what happened last night. I like the snow. I know other vampires like the darkness it brings, but I had always thought it made the land beautiful. I once enjoyed playing around with it with my parents," said Selene.

Xavier stroked Selene’s hair, a thought he had once before coming back to him now. "You have many fond childhood memories."

"It is thanks to my parents. They came up with so many ideas for us to have fun. Looking back now, I don’t know how they always had an idea for us to do something fun. Do you not have such memories, even if it is only with your mother?" Selene asked.

"Playing around in the snow isn’t something my mother would like to do for fun," Xavier replied. "I would like to see all the things you enjoyed as a child."

Selene smiled. "You want to play around in the snow with me?"

"Perhaps. It might be better if we were recreating these memories with a child of our own. I might enjoy it even more and get a better idea of what I had been missing out on," Xavier said.

Selene was silent for a moment as what Xavier said registered in her head. "Are you saying that it is time for us to have a child? Now?"

"Well, it won’t happen right away, but I think it wouldn’t hurt to try for one. We don’t know when you will finally be pregnant. I am open to it as long as you want to do it. It might be time for the estate to become a little nosier. Have I broken you?" Xavier asked since Selene had gone silent.

"We spoke about children more than once, and we said that we would wait. What has changed your mind?" Selene asked, still trying to get used to this.

"The memories you spoke of and us having our own family. I believe our conversation went that you didn’t want to find out you were pregnant last night. We would still have to try, and even when you are pregnant, we have to wait. You can say no," Xavier said, giving Selene the option.

Selene remained silent for a moment, thinking over her answer. It genuinely surprised her to hear Xavier speak of wanting to try for a child.

"You do know that once news of us having a child gets out, the Blackthorns will meddle and maybe the Everharts as well. They will seek to find out if our child is talented like you or can do what I can. Are you prepared for that?" Selene asked.

"I haven’t let them get near you. Why do you think I would suddenly let them get near our child?" Xavier asked. "They will not get close. Neither the Blackthorns or the Everharts. You have my word."

"Then, it couldn’t hurt to try," Selene decided. "I am starting to become bored with you, so it would be wonderful to have someone else around," she joked.

"You made the mistake of saying that on my day. I shall have you pay for it later," Xavier said, looking forward to what he had planned next.
