Chapter 302: Offer (1)

"Had I known this is what it would take for you to strip me down, I would have been more involved in the attacks," said Xavier.

"I told you not to speak of this like that," Selene replied, regretting her decision to help Xavier clean up.

Xavier sat in warm water prepared by the servants. His arrival helped cheer up everyone’s mood since the estate would be more protected with Xavier present.

Selene had a small cloth, which she used to wipe away the blood from Xavier’s hands. Luckily, it was only a little, and Selene didn’t find any cuts or bruises on him.

"How did you manage to kill the king and walk away without any harm done to you? Was he that awful?" Selene asked as she continued to wash Xavier.

"Or, your husband is just too good," said Xavier.

Selene smiled. "Yes, it could be that as well. I’m sure he was no match for you. I’m happy to see that you are home in one piece since I was worried. As good as you are, sometimes our plans don’t go as we want."

"I made a promise to you which I intended to keep. By the time I arrived, Vivienne had already stabbed Darius, so he was weak. I only tired him out and stabbed him. She also stabbed him again. It was not a big fight," Xavier said.

Xavier toyed with the strands of hair which slipped from Selene’s hair she had pinned up. She didn’t want to get her hair or dress wet, but all Xavier wanted to do was pull her into the water and make love to her.

Unfortunately, there was still danger all around, so there was a high chance that the guards would return to inform him.

Still, Xavier’s hand went to settle on Selene’s waist, which was noticed by Selene.

"How is that on your mind now?" Selene asked, letting Xavier do as he wanted.

This was one of the few times Selene would let Xavier get away with whatever he wanted, but she wasn’t going to tell him. It was up to Xavier to realise it.

"You are always on my mind. For how much longer are you going to scrub my hand? There wasn’t much blood there," said Xavier.

"It upsets me to know that Darius’s blood was on your hands. I don’t like it," Selene replied, cleaning Xavier’s hand a little bit more. "I am happy he is finally out of our lives. I don’t know what to feel about Vivienne’s death."

Selene disliked how Vivienne acted about her past time with Xavier, but she didn’t have too many interactions with Vivienne to be celebrating her death.

It was mostly Darius Selene who was happy to hear was dead. If he weren’t gone, then she would have to hear of him trying to take her from Xavier.

"Darius and his father are gone. Even when the attacks around the town are settled, the palace will be after those who killed the king, and it will be without a king. They will suspect that you killed Darius even without any evidence. Can you trust Michael?" Selene asked.

"No, but I do believe he will claim Vivienne killed Darius. He still wants my vote for him to be king," Xavier answered.

"It will be interesting to see what happens if he is voted king. If the woman he loves is a mixed-blood, she would be the first queen who is not a pureblood. Many wouldn’t be pleased by this, but it is what the kingdom needs after tonight," Selene said, setting the cloth to the side.

"This is a better option than suggesting a pureblood wed a human. The court and other purebloods would never allow it, but something must be done to fix what happened tonight. Perhaps it is time to give proper titles to humans," Selene suggested.

"It is starting to sound like you should be queen. Are you certain it is something you do not want?" Xavier asked, willing to sacrifice his peace if it was something Selene desired.

"I am not fond of the palace. Besides, being king would only be a headache for you. I like our quiet life here. Our almost quiet life," Selene chuckled.

There was always going to be something, even if it was a small matter, to disturb them.

"I don’t want to ruin that by going to the palace. Unless the next king and queen prove to have good hearts, I don’t think I want to visit the palace even for a ball. We mustn’t ruin this," Selene said, leaning over to kiss Xavier.

Selene was careful not to lean too far over to get her dress wet, or worse, to fall in the water with Xavier.

Xavier placed his hand on Selene’s waist, stopping her from retreating to her chair.

He was so tempted to pull her in with him, so she would have good reason to discard her dress.

"Xavier," Selene spoke against his lips. "I know what you are trying to do. I don’t want to get wet."

"I think you should," Xavier replied, pulling her forward.

"Xavier!" Selene gasped.

She knew very well what he wanted.

Selene glanced at the door. Many threats remained around the town since Xavier spoke of demons he did not catch.

"If the night goes without any more attacks, I will do all that you want tomorrow. I won’t hesitate or be against it. I will be all yours tomorrow," Selene made an offer.

Xavier smiled, revealing his fangs.

Selene didn’t know what she had placed upon herself. She shouldn’t dangle an offer like before her needy husband.

"Are you certain you could handle anything I ask for?" Xavier asked.

Selene nodded her head. "I can and I will. All you have to do is stay safe within our home and keep it protected for the next few hours. Then from the moment the sun touches the sky, I am under your command."

"It is a good offer," Xavier said, accepting the offer. He could not let a moment like this slip by.

He wanted Selene now, but he could wait a little bit more for an even better time.

"It is a little too good," Selene muttered, already regretting giving him an entire day to command her. "I think we should change it to a few hours. You might be too busy tomorrow to have all that time for me. You have demons to hunt, right?"

"No," Xavier shook his head. "I will be home with my wife all day. You cannot take back the offer since I already accepted it. Morning must come faster."
