Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 249: Media Uproar!
Chapter 249: Media Uproar!
Another day passed in Solhaven City.
In the past few days, Abigail’s life hadn’t changed much. Her grandparents returned to the capital and stayed one night in their home. She also visited her office daily with Sawyer.
However, something happened on the internet—the media was in uproar over the news about Serena Philips.
Several major companies had removed her from the brand ambassador role, and a few movie projects in the country had also terminated her.
The sudden news about Serena Philips shocked many netizens, especially her fans. They flooded Serena’s Instagram with questions about what had happened and why all major companies had severed ties with her. And many netizens also started to speak poorly about her.
Surprisingly, her Instagram account disappeared this morning without any warning. It seemed she had deactivated her Instagram and other social media accounts.
"What the hell happened out there? Why is Serena suddenly facing a cancel culture like a celebrity in South Korea?" Abigail muttered while trying to find more articles about Serena Philips.
Despite her efforts, Abigail couldn’t understand why several large companies had terminated their contracts with Serena Philips, aside from her role as a brand ambassador and some film productions.
She began to suspect, ’Is this what Sawyer mentioned to me the other day? Is he planning to punish Serena and her manager?’
After a while, Abigail decided to stop following the news about Serena Philips.
...
Noticing it was nearly ten o’clock, Abigail closed her laptop and stood up. She needed to prepare herself to go out. Earlier this morning, Sawyer had mentioned they would visit a place he wanted her to see.
Abigail had no idea where they were going since Sawyer was always vague about their plans. It was part of his charm—he had a talent for surprising her.
"Abby, are you ready?"
Sawyer’s voice made Abigail turn toward the door.
"Yeah, I’m ready! Can I wear casual clothes?" she asked, glancing at her reflection in the mirror. She worried that her clothes were too casual.
Sawyer didn’t rush to respond; a smile slowly spread across his lips when he saw her looking charming in tight jeans that hugged her long, slender legs, paired with a black turtleneck that accentuated her figure and showcased her alluring curves. He also noticed her draping a long gray coat over her shoulders, which enhanced her already perfect appearance.
"Damn! My wife looks perfect, hot, and sexy!" Sawyer couldn’t help but praise her.
She stifled a smile. "Geez, can you answer me?"
Sawyer approached her and said, "Did you see what I wear? I also dressed casually, so you don’t need to worry about what to wear." He stopped before her, placed his hand on her waist, and pulled her into his arms. "Let’s go now, or I might cancel our plans for today..."
"Huh? Why would you cancel?" she asked, looking at him in confusion.
He leaned closer, stopping just an inch from her face, and whispered, "Do you know, Abby? You look incredibly hot staring at me like that."
She remained silent but rolled her eyes. She chose not to respond, concerned that he might abandon his plans, and ended up trapping her on the bed.
’Stop, Abby! Stop thinking about it...’ She tried to divert her attention from her sultry thoughts as she followed him out of the walk-in closet.
Sawyer smiled and gently squeezed her hand as they left the bedroom. "Today, I want to show you my basecamp... I mean, my office in this city."
Abigail was surprised to learn that Sawyer had an office in the city. She thought he only had an office in Orange Town. "You have an office here?" she asked as they entered the elevator.
"Yes. But it’s just a place to hang out when I visit this city and usually a workspace for Ethan. You know he needs a computer room to work, right?"
"Hmm, I know..." Abigail replied. She remembered Sawyer telling her that Ethan was the IT guy on his team, but she hadn’t entirely believed him.
Abigail could tell that Ethan was a hacker. She remembered how Ethan had played matchmaker for her and Sawyer after their first encounter on the rooftop. She had also heard Vincent or Brody call out to Ethan a few times, asking him to erase her picture online whenever she was seen in public with Andy Bennet.
...
Knowing that Sawyer had an office in the city, Abigail felt curious and wanted to visit.
Before long, they hit the street. Abigail was so surprised to see their car heading toward the main road, the city’s business center.
"Sawyer, is your office in this area?" Abigail asked, gazing out at the tall buildings as far as her eyes could see. Although their house was close to the central district, she rarely visited that area.
Sawyer, noticing her excitement, said, "Hmm, on this street."
’Are we going to Silverstone Tower? Is his office there?’ Abigail wondered, glancing back at Sawyer, who was driving beside her. She waited for a moment before their car actually headed there. "Your office is in Silverstone Tower?"
Sawyer did not answer her but asked her to look ahead.
Abigail, looking confused.
"Sawyer, did you finally agree to return to Silverstone Group? I thought you had turned down Andy." She recalled Sawyer rejecting Andy Bennet’s request to return, but now he had brought her to this building.
After Sawyer parked his vehicle in the private underground parking, he looked at Abigail.
"Even though I’m no longer on the company’s board of directors, my office remains unchanged. I still occupy the top floor for my personal staff and me. Alright, Abby, let’s head up..." he said before leaving the car.
Later,
An exclusive elevator lifted them directly to the fiftieth floor. When the doors opened, a vast luxury hall resembling a five-star hotel lobby came into view. The room was nearly surrounded by glass walls, allowing them to admire the city’s beauty from the fiftieth floor.
Abigail was surprised to see a man he recognized well. He was her former landlord, Ronan Peters. He’s having a serious conversation with Rowan Sterling, Sawyer’s lawyer.
