Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 242: Their Punishment?
Chapter 242: Their Punishment?
As soon as Abigail entered the VIP room, she grabbed her phone and checked the internet.
She wanted to ensure that the incident that had just occurred in the corridor wasn’t making its way onto social media. Earlier, she had noticed some visitors taking pictures and recording the scene discreetly.
Fortunately, she found no news related to it. Searching for Serena Philips’s name yielded no results regarding the earlier incident.
This eased her mind, leading her to believe that Vincent might have contacted Ethan to help cover things up.
"Sawyer..." Abigail muttered worriedly, thinking about him. She believed that if Ethan had known about what happened here, Sawyer would have known, too.
Now, she was worried about him. They had lost contact for a few hours, and the last time she spoke to him was when she arrived at her office this morning.
Abigail immediately checked the apps they usually used to text each other, typing to ask for his location.
"Husband, I miss you. Where are you?"
After sending a brief text message to Sawyer, she returned to her seat and waited for Andy and Vincent to return.
She had lost her appetite and couldn’t finish the delicious dessert on the table. She simply wanted to leave this place and return to her office. Her meeting with Serena Philips had worn her out mentally.
Knowing she was married to Sawyer, Serena already disliked her. Moreover, if Serena discovered that she was Grandpa Philips’ granddaughter, she couldn’t imagine how unimaginably worse Serena would feel toward her and her grandmother.
Just thinking about it gave Abigail a headache.
’Should I tell Grandpa about this?’ Abigail wondered as she glanced at her cell phone again. After thinking for a few seconds, she dismissed the idea.
She didn’t want to ruin Grandpa Philips’ plan to reveal his marriage with her grandmother on New Year’s Eve.
Abigail sighed deeply to try to clear her mind, but later, Sawyer’s face filled her mind.
"Huh! Why hasn’t Sawyer replied to my text message yet? What on earth is he doing? Is he okay?" Abigail muttered, staring at their previous chat.
She recalled him mentioning that he was at his grandfather’s house and had some family matters to take care of.
After waiting a few more minutes, Abigail decided to call him. She quickly dialed his number from her speed dial, and the call connected on the second ring.
"Hello, Abby..." Sawyer’s cheerful voice came through from the other end.
Abigail felt relief wash over her as she heard his soft, calm voice.
"Sawyer, where are you? Why haven’t you called or replied to my—" Her sentence trailed off when she saw the VIP door open, and Sawyer appeared behind it.
Immediately, Abigail stood up from her chair, approached him, and threw her arms around him. Resting her head against him, she felt her mind become more relaxed, and the stress from her encounter with Serena Philips began to fade away.
As Sawyer’s arms wrapped around her, she lifted her head to look him in the eyes.
"I miss you so much. Why didn’t you contact me, Sawyer? Are you alright?" she asked, filled with concern. "Is there a problem at your family’s house?"
Sawyer let out a deep sigh and offered her an apologetic smile before he explained.
"After visiting my grandparents this morning, something came up with my business in another city, so I flew there and rushed back as soon as everything was alright. I didn’t want to worry you, so I kept it to myself. I’m sorry, my little wife..."
Abigail was shocked. No wonder this man hadn’t contacted her for almost half a day.
"I’m glad you’re okay, Sawyer. But please, let me know next time if you fly to another city, alright?" She meant it.
"I promise you," Sawyer smiled back at her. However, his smile gradually faded as he recalled what Vincent had told him over the phone.
"Are you alright?" he asked as he led her to sit on the sofa at the end of the room.
Abigail smiled, noticing his concerned expression. She was already thinking about how to explain her encounter with Serena to him. Still, it seemed she didn’t have to say anything.
"Did Vincent call you?" she asked.
"Hmm, Vincent called me, and I met him and Andy outside. I already asked them to do what they needed to do," Sawyer answered calmly while trying to smooth her hair from her forehead. Still, Abigail could see annoyance radiating from his gaze.
"I’m fine, Sawyer," Abigail responded with a smile, trying to reassure her husband and ease his troubled expression.
Sawyer didn’t respond immediately; instead, he gazed into her eyes with a tender expression, attempting to calm the anger in his heart as he thought about the threat to her safety.
"I’m relieved to hear that, my love," he replied. "However, even though that man didn’t harm you, he and Serena will face the consequences of their actions. They will receive a severe punishment!"
Abigail was stunned to hear his words. Although Serena’s comments had hurt and annoyed her intensely, she never considered going that far to impose a heavy punishment.
"What do you mean, punishment?" she asked, curious and eager to know his meaning.
"My dear wife, you’ll hear about it sooner or later. But I hope you won’t try to stop me from doing this, Abby. Serena and his manager deserve it... and after suffering the consequences, I hope they won’t bother you again."
Sawyer cupped Abigail’s small face with his warm hands. A faint smile spread across his lips as he noticed her eyes blinking at him and her lips forming an "O" as if inviting him to kiss her.
"Sawyer, I won’t stop you..." She responds.
Abigail had no desire to protect Serena Philips, even though she was a member of the Philips family.
"Alright, let’s go home now. I can’t wait to cuddle my little wife..." Sawyer leaned in and stole a kiss before sitting up straight again. A happy smile shone in his eyes before he stood up and reached out to her.
"Hmm, let’s go! I’m feeling tired too..." Abigail took his hand. She stood up and followed him as they quickly left the restaurant.
