Chapter 238: Unexpected Meeting!

Abigail was impressed by the table’s array of dishes and beverages. It looked like there was enough food for five people instead of just three.

"Yes, it’s getting late—almost two o’clock. We didn’t want to wait," Andy replied as he sat across from her. He then turned to the corner and saw Vincent still talking on the phone by the window. "Vincent, why are you still on that call? Come join us..."

Vincent ended the call and sat beside Andy, his gaze on Abigail. "Young madam, I asked Ethan to erase all your pictures online. You don’t need to worry about it; you can enjoy your lunch, ma’am."

"Thank you, Vincent," Abigail said with a smile before enjoying her meal.

After a few moments of enjoying their late lunch and only talking about how delicious it was, Andy’s smile slightly broadened as he noticed that Abigail had just finished eating. He was dying to talk about something else.

"Sister-in-law, earlier, you asked me why I visited your office," Andy immediately began.

Abigail nodded as she placed her cutlery on her almost clean and empty plate, her curiosity piqued.

"Yes, I did. Why did you stop by my office? Is there an issue with the last two projects we deliver?" she inquired.

"No issues so far. All is good," Andy replied. "But I have another significant new business offer for Camellia Modern Design. This isn’t a personal project of mine; it’s a new initiative from Silverstone Group. If you’d like to know more, I can ask my secretary to send you the details."

Abigail was taken aback by his words. She had never heard about this from Sawyer. ’Did Sawyer arrange for CMD to secure this substantial business deal with his company?’ she wondered.

"Are you serious about cooperating with my small, new company? Not because of Sawyer?" Abigail asked, her worry flashing through her gaze.

Although she knew that the Silverstone Group was her husband’s company, she didn’t want to accept the project simply because Sawyer had suggested it.

"Of course, we are serious. And believe me, Sawyer didn’t know about it. So this is a pure professional offer. Sister-in-law, I know you are capable and talented, and I believe your company has great growth potential. I hope you don’t turn down this offer because this is a huge opportunity for your startup to gain recognition in the industry," he explained earnestly.

Abigail was touched by his praise for her company. "Sure, I’m willing to hear your offer, Andy," she replied, excited about the project ahead.

Before long,

Abigail excused herself to go to the restroom after they had discussed the project.

"Ma’am, I will escort you," Vincent said, standing up to follow her, but she stopped him immediately.

"No need, Vincent. How could you follow me to the restroom?" She smiled and gestured for him to retake his seat. "Don’t worry; the restroom is just around the corner. Who would attack me in this restaurant? Don’t you remember this restaurant is part of Silverstone?"

"Vincent, you worry too much. It’s fine; sister-in-law will be okay," Andy reassured him, patting Vincent on the shoulder to encourage him to sit back down.

Abigail chuckled at Vincent’s concerned expression, thinking he might be reluctant to let her leave the VIP room. She didn’t wait for Vincent to say anything further and hurried toward the restroom, quickly taking care of her business.

...

When Abigail left the bathroom, she was surprised to see a familiar woman walking down the corridor toward her.

’Serena Philips! What is she doing here?’ Abigail couldn’t believe that this woman was also in the same place. ’She won’t recognize me, right? Just ignore her, Abby!’ She tried to calm herself as she continued to walk.

They had only met once at Sawyer’s grandparents’ house a few months ago, and she was sure Serena must have forgotten about her. She lowered her gaze and casually walked past her.

"Wait, Abigail Snowm, right? Oh my god, hi. It’s nice to see you again." Serena’s soft voice suddenly made Abigail stop.

’Oh no! How could she remember me?’ Abigail silently vented her frustration. She tried to steady her nerves while turning to face her, and a faint smile appeared on her lips when she saw Serena’s bright smile.

"Abigail, you know me, right?" Serena asked again when she noticed Abigail wasn’t saying anything.

Abigail wanted to pretend not to recognize her. Still, she worried that Serena would be even more upset after what had happened at Sawyer’s grandparents’ house a few months ago.

Besides, they would meet again next month at the New Year’s party at Grandpa Philips’ house. It would be unwise to ignore her now.

She silently sighed deeply before smiling at her. "Of course, I know you! Our movie star, Serena Philips..."

"Serena... you can just call me that," she said with a friendly smile, correcting Abigail, "I hope you don’t mind, and I will also call you Abigail."

"Sure, Serena," Abigail replied. It would be better if this woman didn’t call her Abigail Snow. Because her heart boiled every time she heard the name "Snow."

"That sounds great, Abigail." Serena’s lips curled into a friendly smile as she walked closer to Abigail, standing just two steps away.

"Earlier, I saw you enter the VIP room with another man, and I didn’t see Sawyer with you." Serena’s friendly smile had vanished, and her gaze had narrowed. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Abigail was surprised at how quickly this woman had changed. Serena spoke to her ears as if she were talking to her sworn enemy.

"I’m sorry if I seem to be meddling in your business, Abigail; I just can’t help but feel terrible for Sawyer. How could you cheat on him after getting engaged?" Serena’s tone was soft, but her sharp, mocking gaze confused Abigail.

Abigail was at a loss for words; how could a respectable woman like Serena Philips think so shallowly?

’How could she accuse me of cheating on Sawyer? How shameless!’ Abigail laughed bitterly to herself.
