Chapter 208: Sawyer Warning
"You mean Andy Bennet, the CEO of Silverstone Group!?" Sawyer asked.
"Yes," Angela nodded quickly. After seeing him, he pretended he didn’t know Andy Bennet. She added, "I know you’re friends with him, Sawyer..."
"You’re mistaken. I don’t know Andy Bennet. How could I know him? He’s someone I can’t even meet in person. He’s a big shot in this country..." Sawyer replied thoughtfully, but Angela could see through his lie.
Angela rolled her eyes at Sawyer’s response. "Do you really think I could believe that? Come on..."
"I don’t care whether you believe me or not..." Sawyer said nonchalantly.
"Little brother, if you don’t know Andy Bennet, then why is he here? I followed him to this house and saw his car parked in the front yard." Angela smiled as she noticed the shock in Sawyer’s eyes.
Before Sawyer could respond, Angela continued, "And this isn’t the first time I’ve seen you meet Andy Bennet. I saw you meet him twice."
Angela’s eyes narrowed sharply as she observed Sawyer, who looked momentarily shocked before he attempted to regain his composure.
’Damn it! So she followed Andy Bennet to this house?’ Sawyer silently cursed under his breath. He had arranged for someone to pick him up, but Andy had mentioned stopping by the office before coming here. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"By the way, this is the first time I’ve seen you in such a sharp suit, little bro. Are you seriously going somewhere?"
Angela’s question left Sawyer speechless again, but he chose not to answer her.
"Even though Andy came to this place, you can’t say this place is my house. Why do you assume this is my house?" Sawyer wanted to know whether his sister was tailing him.
Angela remained silent as if thinking of something to respond to him.
After seeing Sawyer’s annoyed expression grow, she finally answered, "A few days ago, I saw you visit Grandpa’s house, and I asked my driver to follow you. That day, I knew this was your house. And..."
Sawyer was utterly shocked to learn this. How could he let his guard down and not notice someone following him? Now, he wondered if Angela knew Abigail was with him then. He hoped Angela followed him when Abigail was not with him.
"And, what?" he asked.
"Today, while I was following Andy Bennet from his office, I was surprised to see him drive to this location. I also noticed your driver—his name is Brody, if I’m not mistaken. He drove to this place twice today. So, I’m convinced this is your house."
Sawyer was at a loss for words; even Brody had accidentally given her a hint. How could this happen? It seemed he could no longer hide this place from her.
Angela smiled as she observed Sawyer’s reaction. She knew the answer: this beautiful, expensive house belonged to her younger brother.
"So, little bro, was I right? Isn’t this your house?" Angela’s eyes sparkled as she asked. She had long been aware that Sawyer Beach’s house was just an empty place where only the house’s staff lived. They had never found him there whenever they tried to look for him.
Sawyer did not answer her directly. Instead, he warned her, "Sister Angela, I have always respected you, and I never want to know about your life, nor do you want to know about mine."
His eyes drilled into her sharply, making Angela tense up.
"I hope our relationship remains that way. What you see here stays in your mind. I’ll be fine and won’t bother you if you can keep it to yourself. But if you tell anyone about this house, don’t blame me for what I might do," he said, his voice icy.
Angela shuddered at the sight of her little brother, who had rarely shown emotion and had always been low-profile in their encounters. Now, he seemed like a mafia figure from a TV show—ruthless and intimidating.
"W-What are you trying to say, Sa-Sawyer Jo-Jones...? Are you threatening me?" she stammered, a thin line appearing on her forehead as she felt the coldness in his gaze.
A faint smile slowly emerged on Sawyer’s lips as he looked at his sister. In a soft yet still icy tone, he replied, "What I’m trying to say is, yes, this is my house. And you must promise you will never tell anyone about it, especially not Harvey or our parents."
"I... I promise you!" Angela replied, feeling slightly relieved. She was genuinely afraid that Sawyer might do something to her.
"Good!"
"How about Andy Bennet? Can you promise me you’ll arrange a meeting with him?" Angela asked.
"Why on earth do you want to meet him?" Sawyer asked, confused. "Are you romantically interested in him? Is that why you’re reckless enough to approach and follow him to this place?"
Angela felt her face heat up after hearing his shocking question. She quickly tried to calm her mind.
"What are you thinking? Of course not! Andy Bennet is two years younger than me. How could I like someone younger?"
Sawyer chuckled inwardly, noticing her flushed cheeks.
"Age difference? I was even ten years older than Abby. Age isn’t a problem in a relationship if you like someone. That reasoning doesn’t make sense." He wanted to say this, but of course, he held back.
Instead, he asked, "So why do you want to meet him?"
"Damn it, Andy Bennet! He rejected my company’s proposal for some ridiculous reason!" Angela couldn’t hide her annoyance with Andy any longer.
Sawyer listened in silence.
"I’ve tried to make an appointment to meet with him, but he doesn’t have the time. I know he’s been avoiding me, and I don’t understand why. When I found out he knew you, I started searching for a way to use your connection to help me."
"Did you involve Jones when you proposed the cooperation?" he asked.
"Of course. I have to use my full name, given that this is for my personal company. But I want to be clear: this project has nothing to do with J Group!"
Sawyer chuckled internally. He knew Andy would refuse her request because he strictly forbade the Silverstone Group from cooperating with J Group or the Jones family.
