Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 203: Wedding Day (7)
Chapter 203: Wedding Day (7)
Instantly, James Philips’ expression hardened upon hearing Walter’s words.
"Why do you assume my Abigail doesn’t have such a connection, Walter!? Don’t underestimate my Abigail!" James was furious to hear someone trying to look down on his granddaughter.
Walter shook his head, still curious and confused about why this older man was attending his son’s wedding. And why did he address Abigail as "Our Abigail?" This confused him.
"Uncle James, I’m not trying to say that; please don’t try to twist my words," Walter said.
James was too angry to speak. He sighed deeply, glanced at Nathaniel again, and ignored Walter.
Walter narrowed his eyes at James Philips. He was suspicious that Sawyer did not yet know this older man was also attending his wedding, and he believed his father had brought Old Philips to come.
After a few more seconds, he could no longer hold himself back from asking, "Uncle Philips, why did you come to my son’s wedding party? Did you try to ruin my son’s wedding? Try to anger Abigail if she knows who you are?"
James Philips was shocked to hear Walter’s words. His hands clenched tightly as he struggled to contain his anger. He couldn’t refute Walter’s complaint because, deep down, he knew he didn’t have the right to be angry.
Walter’s words were undeniably true: if he weren’t related to Abigail by blood, Sawyer would never have allowed him to be here. One hour ago, the DNA test results confirmed that he and Abigail were indeed related; she was his granddaughter.
James wanted to tell Walter the truth, but he had promised Sawyer to keep this matter a secret. They needed to inform Abigail before sharing the news with anyone they trusted.
He could only sigh silently, trying to calm his racing heart. He did not want to let his emotions flare up before Walter. After all, Walter was Sawyer’s father and his granddaughter’s father-in-law.
Just as James decided to ignore Walter, Nathaniel’s cold voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Walter Jones, apologize to your Uncle James," Nathaniel said, glaring at his son. His displeased expression, clearly visible in his gaze, surprised Walter.
"Father, I just—" Walter began to protest.
"You don’t have the right to speak to someone older than you in that manner!" Nathaniel interjected sharply before Walter could finish. "The man in front of you is family; he is not just a random person you meet out there!"
James felt his heart warm at seeing his best friend defending him. He patted Nathaniel’s shoulder and said, "It’s okay, Niel. Walter doesn’t know any better. He has the right to say that... I’m not offended at all. There’s no need to make him apologize."
Although still upset with Walter, Nathaniel was about to speak when Paul, Sawyer’s butler, approached them.
As Paul stopped before them, Nathaniel asked, "Why do you look so hurried, Paul? Do you need my assistance?"
"I’m sorry, but it’s not you, sir," Paul apologized, smiling at him before continuing, "But I need to ask Mr. Philips to follow me. Master Sawyer asked me to bring him upstairs." With that, Paul turned his attention to James Philips.
"Mr. Philips, please follow me. Master Sawyer needs you upstairs," Paul gestured for James to follow him before excusing himself from Nathaniel and bowing slightly to Walter Jones.
It struck Walter Jones as odd that Sawyer needed James Philips’s help instead of him or his father.
’What is going on here? Why did Sawyer ask for help from Old Philips?’ Walter wondered as he glanced at his father.
Walter observed his father’s calm demeanor and noted no jealousy or annoyance in his expression. This made Walter believe they were hiding something, and he became curious to know what it was.
"Father, is there something I’m not aware of?" Walter asked, suspicious of his father and Uncle James’s behavior. "Can you tell me? Why are you hiding this from me?" he added, noticing his father remained silent.
Nathaniel didn’t answer his son. He took a deep breath and looked towards his wife, who was now emerging from the corner elevator.
He silently inhaled, relieved that he wouldn’t have to clarify anything about Abigail’s identity as James Philips’s granddaughter to his son.

Meanwhile, on the second floor,
Abigail was shocked to hear Sawyer’s words.
"You want me to walk down the aisle with Grandpa Philips?"
"Yes, that’s what I’ve been saying, my darling Abby." Sawyer suppressed a laugh as he observed how shocked and nervous Abigail appeared.
"Wait, wait. Didn’t we just sign the marriage certificate and have lunch together? Why is there a wedding ceremony now? And why do I need to walk down the aisle, too?" fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Abigail felt confused because Sawyer hadn’t mentioned this at all. She thought they would only sign their marriage certificate and celebrate with a small lunch with his family and friends.
What confused her even more was that this plan had only been made the night before, after they had spoken with Grandpa Philips.
At first, she doubted he could pull it off so quickly, but seeing his confidence made her start to believe in him.
’Seriously, Sawyer? Can he really prepare everything that fast?’ she wondered, glancing at him as he sat beside her with a broad smile on his lips.
Abigail was curious and wanted to go downstairs to check what was happening. However, Sawyer had not allowed her to do so since morning.
He gently squeezed her hand, his eyes fixed on hers.
"Abby, you always said you didn’t want a wedding ceremony and just wanted to register the marriage because you only have Grandma and no friends to invite, right?"
Abigail nodded, confused about why Sawyer was asking again.
"After thinking about it, I realized I would feel like a jerk if I let that happen. I want you to have the wedding every woman dreams of, Abby. Even though we can’t bring Grandma Sophie today, I promise we will have a celebrated party again with her..."
When she listened to his sincere words, Abigail’s heart and mind seemed filled with sunshine and rainbows. She was utterly grateful.
