Chapter 196: She Knows About Sawyer’s Wedding

At Garden Hill.

The buzzing sound of the cell phone echoed in the room, breaking the silence.

Abigail’s eyes fluttered as she heard the sound. She realized it was her phone, but her eyes were still heavy, making her reluctant to answer. She remained in Sawyer’s arms, hoping the caller would give up.

However, the buzzing from the nightstand persisted.

When she opened her eyes, she noticed the room was still dark, illuminated only by a tiny sliver of light filtering through a gap in the slightly open curtains. Glancing at the digital clock, she saw it was only 6:30 a.m.

Seeing Sawyer still sleeping beside her, hugging her from behind, she worried the buzzing phone would wake him.

Hurriedly, she moved slowly to reach for the phone and was surprised to see "Aunty Hannah" flashing on the screen.

"Sawyer, I’m sorry to wake you," Abigail said, feeling guilty as she noticed him staring at her with sleepy eyes. "I need to pick up this call..." She tried to free herself from his embrace.

"Just leave it; it’s still too early. Who dares wake you up this early? How rude!" he replied in a hoarse voice, refusing to let her leave the bed, making Abigail fall back asleep in his arms.

Abigail smiled while attempting to free herself. "I can’t. This is your mom..."

Sawyer’s eyes opened wide when he saw the cell phone screen Abigail had shown him, with his mother’s name displayed there.

He asked, confused, "How does she have your cell phone number? Why did she call so early?"

"I’ll explain later. I need to accept this now," Abigail smiled apologetically. Last night, she hadn’t told him she texted Hannah about their wedding and invited her to come.

Abigail sat up after Sawyer loosened his embrace.

Sawyer remained silent, only letting out a soft growl. He watched as Abigail sat beside him, listening to his mother chatting on speakerphone.

...

"Good morning, Abigail. I’m sorry to wake you this early..."

"Aunty Hannah, good morning," Abigail greeted her politely as if Hannah were standing right in front of her. "No. Not at all, Aunty. I was already awake when I heard your call..." She smiled, hearing her own lie.

Sawyer silently smiled as he took her hand, amused by how she spoke like his mother. He gently squeezed her hand to get her attention.

Abigail glanced at Sawyer while gesturing for him to remain silent. She didn’t want Hannah to know she had spent the night with him.

"Thank God I didn’t disturb your sleep, dear," Hannah laughed with relief. "Earlier, I wanted to call you but stopped myself. My husband even scolded me for wanting to call you at five AM when the morning was still dark."

Abigail swallowed nervously. Last night, she fell asleep around two, and if Hannah had called at five, her makeup artist would have been in trouble trying to fix her panda eyes.

"You are disturbing my sleep, Mom!" Sawyer responded in a soft voice but loud enough for Hannah to hear.

Abigail was shocked hearing Sawyer speak. She glared at him and signaled for him to be quiet.

"Oh, son, are you sleeping with Abigail now?" Hannah’s cheerful voice rang out from the other end, warming Abigail’s face with embarrassment.

Seeing Sawyer about to respond, she hurriedly interrupted, "Aunty Hannah, sorry to ask, but why are you calling me this early!?"

"Oh dear, when I woke up, I was shocked to read your text. I’m so happy and wanted to speak to you right away to congratulate you. Ugh, dear, congratulations, my daughter-in-law and my son Sawyer. And thank you for inviting us..."

Abigail, "..."

Sawyer was stunned.

"Of course, I will attend the wedding ceremony. But you haven’t given me the address of the wedding place yet, so I’m calling you now," Hannah continued.

"I’m sorry, Aunty. I forgot to tell you the details last night—" Abigail started, but she couldn’t finish her sentence as Sawyer took her cell phone.

Sawyer moved the phone away from them and whispered to Abigail, "Abby, I will talk to Mom. You need to go back to sleep. Your gown and stylist will arrive at nine."

After seeing her nod, Sawyer walked over to the window and quickly gazed at the backyard, where they would have a lunch garden party. He noticed a few of his staff members busy decorating the area.

A soft smile crept onto his lips. He felt excited and couldn’t wait to become Abigail’s husband. However, his smile faded when he faintly heard his mother’s voice on the phone’s speaker.

Sawyer was still surprised that Abigail had texted his mother last night. He had planned to call them after breakfast, but now that they knew about it, he needed to warn them about this secret wedding ceremony.

After turning off the speaker, Sawyer finally responded, "Mom, does Dad already know about my wedding too?"

"Yes, yes... Of course, he knows. Your father is taking a shower, worried he will be late for your wedding. However, he asked me to call Abigail about the location..." Hannah’s voice sounded excited on the other end. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Sawyer was about to respond, but Hannah’s voice stopped him. "Son, why didn’t you call us sooner? If I hadn’t woken up early, I probably wouldn’t have read the text and may have missed your wedding." Her annoyance was clear, but Sawyer chose to ignore it.

"Mom, my wedding is a secret. You can’t tell anyone about it, not even your personal assistant in your house." Sawyer didn’t want Charlotte Morgan and his siblings to find out.

He didn’t give his mother his home address but instead asked her to wait at his grandparents’ house. He promised to send a driver to pick them all up.

Although the wedding would take place at his home, his family would remain unaware of its location because they did not know where he lived.

"Mom, do you understand what I’m saying? It’s important for me that you do." Sawyer asked to ensure his mother was clear about what he asked.
