Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 179: An Awkward Confession
Chapter 179: An Awkward Confession
Andy smiled affectionately at her as she tried to move away, avoiding him. He didn’t want to scare her, so he remained calm and stilled with apparent friendly gestures.
Despite his efforts to meet her again, she always politely declined, claiming she was busy and rarely stayed in the city. To make matters worse, whenever he heard she was returning to the capital, he had to fly off to another town or abroad for imperative business trips.
So, when he finally learned that they would both be in the city at the same time, he made excuses to revise the design of his house, not because it was necessary but to create an opportunity to meet her again. He felt stupid for doing so but didn’t have a choice. The heart wants what the heart wants.
"Thank you for your help, Abigail. I appreciate you coming here to meet me," he said.
"Oh, please, Andy. You don’t have to say that. Our contract binds us. It is my duty as your interior designer to revise anything you want," Abigail casually responded, placing her laptop in her bag.
She needed to go home now, as she had many tasks ahead of her, especially with a big day planned with Sawyer tomorrow—enough to make her feel like a butterfly dancing in her stomach.
"Still, I feel bad asking you to come," he insisted.
"Andy, did you forget? You pay me each time you request a revision, so there’s no need to feel bad about it." Abigail chuckled lightly when she saw him nod, trying to say something, but no words came out. He just ran his fingers through his hair, looking nervous.
Not wanting to linger, Abigail began to excuse herself. "Alright, Andy, let’s wrap it up. It’s time for me to—" However, she paused when she saw him stop her.
"Please wait a moment. There’s something I need to talk to you about... Please," Andy begged softly, reaching out his hand.
Andy grabbed Abigail’s arm without realizing it, stopping her in place. She flinched in shock. He couldn’t stop now; he needed to express his feelings. This was his only chance to see her since they were both busy.
Abigail was taken aback, staring at Andy’s hand on her wrist. His tight grip slightly hurt her, so she hurriedly pulled her hand back and fixed her gaze on him.
"Andy, I can’t stay here much longer. My friend is waiting for me downstairs!" she tried to say calmly, but her trembling voice betrayed her shock. Sitting close to him on the three-seater sofa made her even more uneasy.
"You can speak now, Andy..." Abigail urged when he said nothing, merely smiling at her. Seeing his unusually gentle gaze and smile made her feel even more uncomfortable. ’What’s wrong with him? Why is he acting so strangely?’
"I’m sorry if I make you uncomfortable, Abigail." Andy smiled at her, recognizing how nervous and scared she looked now. "I won’t harm you. I, I just want to talk..."
"My goodness, Andy Bennet! To be honest with you, yes, I am uncomfortable now..." Abigail can’t longer hold her annoyance. She clenches her hands, feeling helpless as she talks to this man. He only repeats his words, wasting her time.
"Whatever it is you want to say, just say it! Seriously. Because if you don’t, I will have to leave. I got a lot of work to do," Her words were friendly, but as she said it, her eyes were sharp at him as if she wanted to whack his head through her gaze.
Andy inwardly scolded himself when he saw how furious Abigail looked. He hurriedly confessed, not wanting to make her even more frantic and uncomfortable.
"Okay. I will speak now; please don’t be angry," He tried to smile, but her sharp gaze made him hurry to continue. "I don’t know if you realize this or not, Abigail, but since the first time I saw you at our first meeting to talk about my cabin project, I’ve had an interest in you..."
Seeing her gasp in shock, Andy felt a rush of hope. He had imagined her reaction a hundred times: shocked and disbelieving.
"But, Abigail, I didn’t express my feelings then because I knew you were still in a relationship with Ryland Wood. However, when I found out you were no longer with him at our second meeting, I started to dare to approach you."
A foolish smile appeared at the corner of his lips as he spoke. He shook his head slowly, picturing himself love-struck over Abigail. He felt like he had returned to his teenage self.
"I’ve been trying to create opportunities for us to meet and get to know each other better. And you know what? I’m so grateful that after just a few meetings, I became sure of my feelings for you, Abigail Snow." Andy’s eyes were glued to her, waiting for her reaction. "I’ve decided to pursue you as my girlfriend..."
When he saw Abigail staring at him in silence without immediately rejecting him, he felt a surge of happiness.
"I won’t force you to accept me right now, Abigail. You can think about it first. Please don’t feel stressed about it..." Andy smiled gently at her. He wanted her to know his feelings without feeling rushed to decide.
Abigail was still at a loss for words after hearing his sudden confession. A powerful man like him was interested in her romantically?
’What the hell happened? How did I attract two powerful men right after breaking up with Ryland? Did the Goddess of Love take pity on me and send them my way at the same time?’
She felt amused, thinking of herself as the female lead in the werewolf novel she had recently read, where the Luna had two hot Alphas sent by the Moon Goddess.
Even though she was grateful to have attracted this powerful man, the situation made her dizzy.
"I’m sorry, Andy, but I can’t accept your feelings," Abigail said firmly. She didn’t want to give him false hope.
Andy was shocked to hear Abigail’s sudden rejection. He had thought she would accept him immediately after he was honest with her.
’Is she scared? That must be why she’s rejecting me, right?’ Andy tried to reassure himself.
