Chapter 174: Visit Silverstone Tower

"Hmm, I understand. I’m just a little worried that Grandpa Nathaniel might cause you some trouble," Abigail said, expressing concern. She smiled at him, but a slight worry lingered in her heart.

Sawyer shook his head. "He won’t do that. Because he knows if he does, he’ll never see me again."

Abigail remained silent.

"Alright, let’s put Grandpa out of our minds," he said, not wanting his grandfather to ruin Abigail’s mood. "Abby, prepare yourself because we will officially become husband and wife tomorrow. In just a few hours, you will be Mrs. Jones..."

Abigail felt her face grow warm.

"I know you’re excited about our wedding night, Abby. So am I," his eyes sparkling as he met her shy gaze. "After the wedding, we’ll fly to our honeymoon..." He continued to share his plans for their trip to the island to celebrate their marriage.

Abigail’s face flushed with excitement and nervousness upon hearing his plan.

Two hours after Sawyer left the house, Abigail headed to her meeting.

"Excuse me, Miss Abigail. May I know where your meeting location is?" Vincent politely asked, respectfully glancing at her through the rearview mirror as he drove.

Abigail looked up from her phone and furrowed her brow slightly.

"Didn’t I tell you yesterday? I thought I had."

She wasn’t sure if she had; too much had happened since then that preoccupied her mind. The surprise gift Sawyer had for her was a building, and she unexpectedly visited Sawyer’s grandparents’ house.

"Not yet, Miss..." Vincent replied slowly, hinting he didn’t want to offend Abigail with his answer.

"Silverstone Tower. My client works in that building," Abigail answered casually before returning her gaze to her phone. She wanted to text Amelia Walker to let her know she was on the way to the meeting.

Vincent was surprised to hear their destination.

’She has a meeting in that building? With who?’ he thought, his curiosity piqued. However, he hesitated to ask about her client, worried that Abigail might think he was interfering in her business.

He focused on the road ahead, but his mind remained curious about her client. His hands tightened on the steering wheel, and he mentally noted that he should ask Ethan to investigate.

As soon as the car stopped at the intersection and waited for the red light, Vincent took out his cell phone and messaged Ethan.

"Miss Abigail’s client works at Silverstone Group. Can you find out about that person? I’m worried!"

Vincent stared at his cellphone screen while occasionally glancing at the streetlights.

Before long, he received a reply from Ethan.

"I can’t dig up information about her without Boss Sawyer’s order. What’s happening, V? Why do you sound so worried?"

A frown appeared on Vincent’s forehead as he cursed Ethan’s slow thinking. He quickly typed his response while stepping on the gas to continue driving.

"So, what are you waiting for? Ask Boss Sawyer’s permission!"

Vincent’s expression remained annoyed by Ethan’s slowness. Trying to drive calmly, he sped toward Silverstone Group.

Not long after, they arrived and stopped in the lobby. He turned to Abigail.

"Miss Abigail, can you wait for me? I’ll park my car as soon as possible. Let me accompany you to meet your client." He couldn’t let her meet her client alone after his boss warned him to accompany her.

Abigail shook her head and grabbed her laptop bag.

"Thank you, Vincent, but there’s no need. I will call you when I’m done with the meeting. I think it will only last about an hour."

After rejecting Vincent’s offer, Abigail quickly exited the car. She couldn’t invite him upstairs to meet Andy Bennet; she knew a big shot like Andy would not be able to meet anyone.

Besides, it would be strange for Andy Bennet to know she had a bodyguard. Even he, the CEO of the Silverstone Group, an undoubtedly large company, had never been seen with one.

...

As Abigail’s figure disappeared into the building, Vincent moved his car to the basement parking restricted area.

When he checked his cell phone and saw that Ethan hadn’t replied, a look of annoyance crossed his face.

"What the heck, Ethan Smith!? Why haven’t you updated me?" he scolded him while attempting to make a call.

However, he stopped short when a thought crossed his mind.

"Am I being overly sensitive? Am I worrying for nothing?!"

Vincent sighed deeply, turned off the car engine, and reclined his seat to a sleeping position, closing his eyes. A buzzing sound jolted him awake just as he was about to rest.

He quickly checked his cell phone and felt a surge of tension when he saw "Boss Sawyer" displayed on the screen.

"Boss..." Vincent greeted, sitting up straight as if Sawyer were right before him. "I’m sure Ethan already called you," he added.

"Yes. Where is Abby...?"

Vincent stiffened when he heard Sawyer’s cold voice on the other end. "Miss Abigail is meeting her client inside Silverstone Tower."

"Why don’t you accompany her inside!?" Sawyer’s voice slightly raised in frustration, and Vincent could feel the tension mounting.

"I already offered to accompany her, but Miss Abigail refused. She asked me to wait in the parking lot and said she would only have a one-hour meeting," Vincent explained as he exited the car. He then walked to the special elevator that led only to the fiftieth floor.

"Go upstairs! Help Ethan. He might need you. I will be heading there soon..."

"Yes, sir!"

Vincent smiled quietly to himself. He had managed to take the initiative without being asked. He sensed something was amiss upstairs and was now curious about Abigail’s client and why his boss sounded upset.

Once Vincent arrived on the fiftieth floor, he went straight to Ethan’s office, the computer room.

He opened the door without knocking, causing Ethan, who was busy in front of his computer screen, to look up in surprise.

"V!? I thought you would wait in the basement," Ethan chuckled. But Vincent merely gave him a deadpan expression.
