Chapter 170: Worry She Will Be Jealous

Serena pressed her sexy, curvy body against him, visibly trying to feel the warmth she had missed dearly.

"I missed you so much, Sawyer. I tried to contact you many times without success, so I thought you were too busy to answer my calls or reply to my text messages." She smiled, but her heart ached from not receiving his warm welcome.

Serena clenched her teeth while her eyes were fixed on the woman sitting restlessly beside Martha. A fire slowly ignited in her heart and spread throughout her veins as she watched Abigail Snow, who had stolen Sawyer from her.

It had not been easy to find out who the woman Sawyer had embraced at the police station a few months ago, and she finally learned Abigail’s details only today. She felt no fear because she knew Abigail was not from a respectable family; she was merely a lowly barista.

However, Serena couldn’t stay still. She urged her grandfather to come and talk to Sawyer’s grandfather about arranging their marriage.

Still, she hadn’t expected Sawyer to bring Abigail to meet his grandparents so soon.

’Abigail Snow! I won’t let you succeed in stealing Sawyer from me!’ she whispered, sending a cold smile in Abigail’s direction before she released her embrace.

Her bright eyes met Sawyer’s annoyed gaze. She didn’t care; instead, her smile grew wider.

"Sawyer, you haven’t forgotten about your promise, have you?" Serena asked loudly, ensuring Abigail could hear her.

The frown on Sawyer’s forehead deepened, knowing what Serena was trying to imply.

Before Sawyer could respond, James Philips’ laughter echoed in the room, drawing the attention of the others to look at him in confusion.

"Hahaha... yes, yes, I remember my granddaughter mentioning that Sawyer promised her something. What is it, Sawyer? Please share with this old man..." James asked, feigning ignorance as he glanced at Sawyer.

Serena blushed and momentarily looked at her Grandpa before turning back to Sawyer. Gracefully, she tucked her smooth hair behind her ears when Sawyer focused on her.

"Sawyer, you promised to wait for me to return. Now, I’m back for good. I will stay in this country because I’m ready to settle down. I’m ready to marry you, Sawyer Jones..." she said loudly enough for Abigail to hear her.

Sawyer’s hands clenched into tight fists as he watched Serena’s delusional acts unfold. He didn’t bother to respond to her.

Instead, Sawyer shifted his gaze toward Abigail. Worry tightened his chest, and he was anxious that she might be confused or angry upon hearing Serena’s words. He needed to ensure that she was alright.

...

Abigail was stunned to see Serena Philips, an international movie star, at Sawyer’s grandparents’ house.

What shocked her even more was witnessing the woman embrace Sawyer lovingly; he didn’t refuse or move away, which made her mind race with countless strange questions.

’Why is she here? Did they know each other?’ Abigail wondered, trying to appear calm and ignore the intimacy unfolding before her eyes. She heard Martha, who was deliberately trying to distract her.

However, Martha failed, and Abigail couldn’t shake her confusion, curiosity, and fear.

Not long after, her tenuous calm shattered when she heard Serena Philips speak.

"Sawyer, you promised to wait for me to return. Now, I’m back for good. I will stay in this country because I’m ready to settle down. I’m ready to marry you, Sawyer Jones..."

Abigail felt her body stiffen as if struck by lightning. Her heartbeat seemed to stop as she realized who Serena Philips was.

’Serena Philips and Sawyer a couple? His ex?’ The thought sent a chill down her spine. ’Why did Sawyer never mention this? Why does he seem to be hiding it from me?’

Abigail felt her hand grow cold as if holding an ice cube. She could no longer ignore Serena. Slowly, her gaze shifted back to Sawyer. She needed to hear his response.

When their eyes met, her worry, fear, and confusion faded. She saw his calm gaze and instantly knew she could trust him.

She smiled back at him as if to say, "I’m okay, Sawyer. Don’t worry about me..."

Abigail listened intently as Sawyer spoke.

"Serena, I think you forgot. I only gave you a chance for one year. And that was five years ago. There are no promises to fulfill, and you clearly know that..."

"Sawyer, of course I remember. But I hear you never have a—" Serena’s words stopped abruptly when she noticed Sawyer raising his hand to silence her.

Sawyer turned to Abigail, a loving smile spreading across his face. He continued speaking without lowering his gaze.

"And just for your information, I already have a wife. She is right there... sitting with my mother," Sawyer said confidently, glancing again at Serena and James Philips. "Serena, it’s not nice to say something like that in front of my wife, right? So please stop saying nonsense in the future!"

He didn’t wait for Serena and James Philips to respond; he left them frozen in utter shock at his words.

Serena and James Philips were surprised, but they weren’t alone. Nathaniel and Martha were, too. However, Sawyer’s Grandparents remained silent and smiled awkwardly as they looked at James and Serena.

Ignoring the attention on him, Sawyer focused solely on Abigail. He was concerned that she might feel confused or even jealous of Serena.

He stepped closer to her and offered his hand.

"Abby, let’s go home," Sawyer said. He had no reason to stay any longer. After grasping her hand tightly, he glanced at his grandmother and said, "I’m sorry, but we must return now. I will come by next time, Grandma."

"Yes, of course, dear..." Martha smiled at Sawyer. While she wanted to chat longer with Abigail, she understood women’s feelings and chose to let them go.

Abigail bid farewell to Martha and Nathaniel, casting a faint smile at Serena and her grandfather before she followed Sawyer in silence.

Her heart still felt tense as she glanced at him, discreetly trying to observe his expression.
