Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 306: The dreadful future
Chapter 306: The dreadful future
"Father I cannot," Alice said amidst her tears. She was so drained from the current situation. Everything around her had been on the constant move from the moment she entered the Eagle tribe. Her hunger for vengeance and heartache for her brother and mother were finally taking a toll on her. The exchange of words she was having with her father right now was overwhelming, "I’m tired, Father"
Elder Edgar pursed his lips and said in defiance, "You are my daughter, there is nothing you can’t do"
She felt like crying out loud. It felt like her father was not even trying to hear her words. The heartfelt words she said to him seemed to be going out from one ear through another. So she did what she always did, "Alright, I will mate with, Kyrell" There was no point trying to get her father to understand her stand. She physically couldn’t bring herself to sleep with her brother’s killer. Nonetheless, this simple fact somehow seemed bizarre to her father. It was as though he didn’t see her as an individual with feelings and emotions. For him, his children were nothing but extensions of himself. He wanted them to be and behave like he did, without any sentiments to the others around them.
"I will do as you say" That was her final attempt to remove herself from the conversation. She didn’t want to deal with her stone-like father anymore. It was not worth it. For now, she decided to agree with his orders and just get it over with.
"Good" Stated Edagar, "It seems you have finally come to your senses" Then he pulled his robes in place and turned around to leave but not before saying his last words, "I was informed that you are not spending enough time with your mates. You have not once become pregnant and that is shameful for any female. Get yourself together and do your duty"
"Yes, Father" Her reply to his order was meek yet indifferent. That was all she could say as she watched him walk out of the council room. And as soon as he stepped out, her legs gave away as she slumped to her seat. Her hands covered her face as she tried to calm herself down.

[SILVER WOLF TRIBE]
In the deepest parts of the wolf tribe, an old and worn-out temple could be seen. A carved symbol of the moon could be seen at the entrance and as one proceeded deeper, one could see an altar with a beautiful statue of a goddess.
Mona had her eyes closed praying as she kneeled before the moon goddess. It had been so long since she had come to this shrine after leaving for her mate’s tribe. One of the things she most longed for while she resided in the Tiger tribe was this place. The goddess’s shrine brought her peace and solace she had never before found. It was hard for her to depart from her tribe but being with her loving mate had been the best decision of her life. Sheru was a mate given to her by the moon goddess or that was what she wanted to believe.
The reason she came to the shrine today was to thank the goddess for everything she has given to her and pray for her family. It was precisely for the new addition to her family, her sister-in-law. Lyra was a female with a good heart, she loved her brother and cared for him. Mona could see that very clearly with a few interactions she had with her. And right now the former was pregnant. It was good news. Yes, it was.
Mona tried her hardest to convince herself that this was true. She wanted to force herself to stop from overthinking. But the thoughts....the recurring visions in her mind made it impossible for her to ignore. As time passed, her entire self started to shiver and her forehead got covered in sweat.
"Please, Goddess. Please don’t do this to me. Not again...!" She earnestly begged as she tried to clear the visions she was getting. Whenever something like this occurred in the past, she came to this altar and it stopped but now.....it seemed like even the Goddess gave up on her. The image of Lyra running in pain as she held her pregnant belly kept on appearing in her mind. Worse, there was some unknown force chasing after her seemingly trying to harm her.
"Hah..." With a loud gasp, she opened her eyes and crumbled to the ground. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she shakingly glanced up at the statue of the Goddess. novelbuddy.cσ๓
"Why.....? Why?" A whispered yell left her mouth. From the day, she came of age, Mona had these visions about random people. Sometimes it was of her surrounding people and next someone who she had never met before. And whatever she saw in those visions turned out to be a cruel reality that would happen. She did try to alter it. Even though it physically and mentally pained her, she tried to change the future for it to only turn out the same. Nothing ever changed. Not even when she tried to rush back after having visions about Brother Daniel.
Brother Noah and Brother Daniel were like a family to her. She cherished and loved them. But the fate took one of them away from her. Daniel met his demise after getting attacked during the battle with Strays. Mona still vividly remembered shouting and crying when she saw the latter’s future in her visions. Back then she had just shifted to the Tiger tribe and cursed herself again and again for being away. No matter how much she tried, it had been too late when she arrived at the Beast City. Maybe due to that traumatic incident, she stopped having visions. That is until now.
"Mona?" Before she could dwell deeper in her thoughts, a familiar voice brought her back to the present.
The Wolf Queen looked at her distraught daughter with a complicated gaze. Rushing towards her, she propped her daughter up, "Mona, Sweetheart? What happened? Why are you...." ’Here’ She wanted to ask why Mona was here in the Goddess’s shrine but held back. The look on her daughter’s face was enough for her to understand the current predicament, "Did you get a vision?"
Mona nodded slightly, "Yes"
"Oh goddess" The Queen sighed in anguish. Why was her child being tortured like this? Her poor girl had never led a peaceful life due to this wretched curse. Yes, curse. Some of the witch masters called it a boon but the Queen thought otherwise. Something that torments an innocent soul like her daughter can never be a boon. The situation was hard enough but she was not prepared for what she heard next.
"I saw about, Lyra" The queen’s blood ran cold as her daughter added, "Sister in law...I saw her in danger, Mom"
