Chapter 276: Their new home

’Screech’

Lyra jolted in her place and retreated from Kaizer after hearing a loud screech just above her. And when she looked up, she caught a glimpse of numerous giant birds flying around the blue sky. Soon she realized their identity and smiled while whispering, "Victor"

It seemed like Victor had returned with his tribesmen. Many vultures were flying up in the sky and soon they started to descend which brought Lyra out of her haze. As she returned her attention to the man in front of her, he in return tightened his hold around her waist.

Kaizer had his brows furrowed with displeasure Clearly written on his face. He hated how his chance to get closer to his bunny went away. The desire and want he had managed to bring out of her vanished in thin air leaving him facing the current awkward look in her eyes. She was obviously embarrassed by the situation and started to wiggle out of his arms which made him upset.

Lyra on the other hand didn’t know what she was thinking when she decided to do this with Kaizer. This situation of hers made her very ashamed and it was not because she was about to kiss him but instead, it was because of how easy she was in front of these handsome faces. All of her mates knew about this weakness of hers and took advantage of it thoroughly to her dismay.

Then when she looked up at Kaizer, she felt even worse. He was looking at her like she wronged him. His brilliant purple eyes had dimmed down showing how upset he was unlike his hands which were still strong around her waist. With that alone, she could figure out that he didn’t want to let her go but there was nothing she could do. Not when the Vulture tribe was here. Lyra wanted to welcome them. She didn’t want them to feel inadequate in any manner or form. The Vulture tribe had recently lost their home so she wanted them to try to find their home here in the snake tribe. Accepting or rejecting this was left to them but she wanted to do her best to help them at least adjust here until they decided to find their own place.

Anything was alright with her but to carry out her plans, she first had to get out of this handsome wolf’s arms. So she did what she was best at doing. Tiptoeing on her feet, she planted a quick kiss on Kaizer’s lips before slipping out of his hold.

Kaizer was shocked by her sudden kiss and hence loosened his hold around her which made him frown. But before he could do anything, he once again felt a kiss but this time on his cheek. Then he saw his bunny smirk at him before skipping out of that place. He was left stunned meanwhile, Lyra scurried away and soon reached the snake tribe’s entrance.

There she saw the entire entourage of the vulture tribe. All of them were gathered near the entrance with Victor and Peter standing in the front. Her mate and Peter were seemingly discussing something until they spotted her.

A smile naturally spread on Victor’s face when he saw his mate. With some final words with Peter, he excused himself before coming towards her. Lyra too walked to him and they reached each other halfway.

Lyra felt her mate’s arm on her shoulder. He pulled her towards him before starting to walk, "Are all the preparations finished for tonight’s banquet?"

She nodded, "It’s almost over, We can start cooking once Blake comes back from hunting"

Victor kissed the side of her head before replying, "That’s good but be sure to not overwork yourself" With so many Snake beastmen and now adding Vulture beastmen, there were too many stomachs to feed and he was worried that this would make his mate burdened. More so than that, he was worried that she would push herself too hard even without her knowledge. She tended to do that most of the time and Victor didn’t like that. He’d rather she complain and order them to do all of the work instead of putting everything on herself.

However, his worries didn’t make much sense to Lyra, and that made her say, "I haven’t done any work after coming here and that is starting to slowly drive me crazy" At least back in the Rose castle, she looked after the garden which eased her boredom but here and that too in this cold season, she had nothing to do. She had never been like this. Back in her old world, her mother always asked her to do some household chores which she hated but now missed. Yet, now all of those memories felt like a bitter-sweet dream which she wanted to experience over and over again. Whenever she was reminded of her adoptive parents, her heart constricted painfully. She wanted to see them at least once.

As Lyra knew of that not occurring, she slightly shook her head coming out of her thoughts, and heard her mate say, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were feeling this way" For them, females not having to work was something normal as drinking water to stay alive. It did not occur to him what was wrong until he heard his mate’s words. He could see that she was indeed frustrated with how things were going and wanted to make it better, "Do whatever you want, sweet girl but don’t forget to ask our help when you need it"

She looked up at him as he asked as though trying to make sure that she understood, "Alright?"

Lyra smiled at that and nodded. Soon the pair reached the tribe’s entrance and saw Peter guiding the Vulture beastmen in certain directions. And when he saw her, he bowed, "Your Majesty"

’Will there be enough houses for all of them to stay?’ Lyra mused to herself while darting her glance along the large number of Vulture beastmen and the females of the same tribe. As expected, there were fewer females compared to males and all of them looked quite exhausted. Offcourse they would be tired from losing their home due to the strays to getting chased out of the Eagle tribe without any prior notice. Kyrell.....Lyra would never forgive him for doing this.

Nonetheless, Lyra’s heart warmed when she saw the exhausted females smiling at her. They looked so genuine as they bowed to her before leaving to settle into their new homes. All of them showed no hostility to her except one.

Selene glared at their supposed queen with scorn. According to her, their current situation was because of this queen and no one seemed to understand this. First, a stranger came to their real home and claimed himself a king before forcing them to abandon their precious place. Here, they got ambushed by those strays and were kicked out of the Eagle tribe. All of these happened due to their queen and nothing could change her mind in this regard. Yet, all she could do was glare at the latter. There was nothing else she could do. Not when all of her tribesmen and fellow sisters looked at their queen like she was some kind of goddess.
