Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 252: Resolved
Chapter 252: Resolved
Pain! That was what Blake felt in his entire body. Every inch of his existence felt like it was tearing itself down. The beast inside him struggled to get free to no avail. His instincts were pushing him to turn....To shift to his beast form so that he could fight off the pain that he was feeling. But no matter how much he tried, he was not able to shift. Something was forcefully suppressing his inner beast from coming out. Utter agony was he felt at this moment and it kept on increasing as time passed.
However, this physical pain felt nothing compared to the discomfort he was feeling through his mate bond. He could sense his mate’s fear through their mate bond. She was pushing her dread down while putting on a brave front in front of the rootless beastman. Blake felt ashamed of himself for putting his mate into such a situation. What good was he to her if he couldn’t even protect her? And this was happening again and again. First, someone had hit her in the Eagle tribe, and now....Blake just wanted to end his life. The reason his pathetic life held any meaning was because of his mate and without even keeping her safe, he felt like it would be good for him just die.
Noah on the other hand, was in a more precarious state than Blake. At least, the latter was trying his hard to break free from Kaizer’s hold but he had no strength to fight in the first place like Blake. His beast was not at all responding to him and the only thing he could feel was sheer agony. Once again, he was reminded of his low strength. If only....If only had he been stronger than this, then the rootless beastman wouldn’t have done this to him or his mate. Tears filled with raw anger gathered in his eyes as he stared at his mate trying her hardest to get them free. She was sacrificing herself for them.
Lyra had one thing on her mind at this moment. She wanted to somehow save her mates even if it means for her to do something that she didn’t like. Kai.....Kaizer according to their past meetings was a good person. He was a little pushy, yes, but he never tried to force something on her. He was clumsy and always nervous in front of her. That image of his was etched in her mind but not anymore. The sweet beastman that supposedly wanted to kidnap her to only fail by his clumsiness was gone. Now, looking at his purple eyes elicited only dread and nothing more. Those eyes that she had before thought as pretty were filled with madness and a strong need to possess her. He kept on apologizing to her as though he wanted to leave only good memories of his in her mind.
’He is insane’ her subconscious screamed at her to get far away from this person. Darya who had not responded to her for the past few weeks was suddenly waking up by providing enough magic so that Lyra could escape from this situation. But was that really that easy? And the answer to that quickly came to her mind. No, it was definitely not that easy to walk away from him. Once again she was reminded of the harsh world she was in. What Kaizer was doing right now was not that bad according to the standards of the beast world. A strong male could kill a female’s other mates as a way to show off his power and the said female would accept him because as the rules go, ’The stronger the better’
In a place where females were few and had dangers like stray beastmen trying to kill them, it was practical for them to dispose of weak males to get new strong males by their side.
When her mates told her about all these rules, Lyra was left in shock. That followed, slowly adapting to the norms of the beast world so that she doesn’t put herself or her family in danger. From having multiple mates to taking over the position of head of their family, she did all she could. She had to stop her mates from fighting each other by sharing equal affection with all of them. Some of her mates still didn’t like it if she showed a little more love to Blake compared to them. She was already thankful that their resentment didn’t reach her children. Each of her mates loved her children as their own and that was also because it was normal for males to like their mate’s children born from other males in the beast world. To be more precise, they liked them because the children came out of their beloved females.
Nonetheless, the hate for their mate’s other males remained the same. They were considered as nothing but rivals and it was ideal of them to dispose of males that they deemed as too weak to protect their mate. And Lyra was sure that, this was exactly what Kaizer was thinking right now. He was musing about ending Blake’s and Noah’s life because well, he considered them a hindrance and too weak to keep her safe. Killian had also said something this similar to her before, ’I don’t get it, Love. Why are you keeping these weaklings by your side?’ and this sentence was directed to Lucas and Noah. He looked genuinely confused when he asked her this. Like he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her and this was exactly how Kaizer was looking at her right now.
’’Please, free my mates, Kai’’ She repeated bringing him out of his thoughts and the answer she received for her request was a simple, "Why?’’
Kaizer really couldn’t comprehend why she was asking him to free her mates. The two of those imbeciles were clearly weak and so pathetic that they failed in protecting her not once but twice. First during the fox tribe’s banquet and now from him. Like some rocks, they stood paralyzed back in the fox tribe when she almost lost her life due to something that she inhaled and now!..... Now they were at his mercy stuck to the wall. If he was not the one here and someone that really wanted to harm her held them captive, then what would have they done? Let their mate die? Just like the day that witch master tried to kill her during her labor? He was sure that none of them even knew of that incident much less protect her. Pathetic beings trying to show off in front of him when they can’t even get out of his clutches.
His judgmental eyes soon landed on Blake, "So much for being an immortal beastman’’ then he shifted his gaze to Noah, "And a princeling who has nothing but his tribe to show off. I have heard that his tribe is the most powerful in the Beast city...right?’’ the last question was directed at Lyra and all she could do was nod while saying, "I guess so’’ She didn’t know whether to cry or laugh in this situation.
As a last resort to save her mates, she decided to do something that she hoped not to regret in the future, "Kai’’ she called gaining his attention, and took a deep breath before saying, "I will.....’’ words seemed to get stuck in her throat but she somehow forced them out, "I will take you as my mate if you let them go’’
Kaizer felt like he was hearing things and all he could ask was, "Really?’’
Lyra nodded her head before answering, "I swear it. I will take responsibility for you like you wanted’’
Something seemed to swell inside Kaizer’s heart. He felt short of breath while his heart thumped painfully against his chest and he felt the one way to calm it down was by hugging his bunny, "I’m so happy, bunny. But one thing though, I would have been just as happy if you took me in as a slave’’
"Why do you keep saying that?’’ Lyra frowned while pulling away from him, "Why would I even make you my slave? No, I cannot even think of a person like that’’ She couldn’t understand why he was always so adamant and okay with turning himself into a slave. I mean who even wants to be a slave in the first place? She felt weirded out every time Kaizer talked about being her slave like it was something great. And how could she dare to make someone as dangerous as him as her slave? No, thank you.
’Thud’ she came out of her thoughts when she heard a loud sound right behind her. Turning back, she caught sight of two of her mates on the ground. They were groaning seemingly in pain which urged her to run to them until she was stopped by Kaizer holding her arm before he said with nonchalance, "They will be alright, Bunny. It’s not like I harmed them seriously or anything’’
’’Huh?’’ Lyra felt like she heard wrong. Not serious? Her mates were writhing on the ground struggling to get up and this man was saying that it was nothing to be worried about. How was this not serious enough!? She really couldn’t understand the man in front of her. She also had to agree with herself that the only good thing about him was those pretty purple eyes of his.
