Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 251: Hoping for the best
Chapter 251: Hoping for the best
Blake continued to observe the rootless beastman with eyes laced with anger. He had still not forgotten about Kaizer refusing to tell about their mate’s location inside the forest. Something was amiss here and he could feel it. Blake was sure that Kaizer would not have let their mate go without Xavier bringing her back to the Beast City. And none would believe his words if he mentioned this here. That rootless beast-man was the one that saved his mate’s life by taking her away from the Fox tribe after all. No matter what he says, only he will turn into a bad person in others’ eyes. Kaizer has done a huge favor for them he was thankful for that. However, that did not mean that he would completely forgive Kaizer and that also had to do with the current situation where this rootless beastman refused to take his filthy eyes off of his mate.
Noah shared the same sentiment as Blake. It was already bothersome enough that his mate had met a rootless beastman and was familiar with him. He didn’t want to add more trouble by bringing a rootless one into their family. He could clearly see that Kaizer or whatever had feelings for his mate and he could also see his mate oblivious to these feelings. Or it might be just that she tried to ignore it by acting ignorant even though she knew it.
And the truth was not far from what Noah was thinking. Lyra had six mates and that means Six males by her side. How could she not know about men...no about beastmen to be exact. She had seen it all and it was not rocket science to not know of Kaizer’s feelings for her. He was not even subtle in showing it anyways. His beautiful purple eyes were practically dripping with affection for her and Lyra purposefully ignored it. She knew that her mates didn’t quite like Kaizer and she didn’t want to bring someone like that and break the peace in her home. Kyrell’s betrayal also left a deep gash in her heart that taught her a very valuable lesson to not trust someone very easily. She was quite naive falling for a man that had abducted her before and did not want to repeat the same mistake.
Whereas Xavier who was left alone took his time observing everyone inside the room. The snake king and Noah were glaring at his hero meanwhile, the pretty female was looking at the ground as though something was interesting down there.
"I’m leaving" Xavier announced breaking the awkward silence. A smirk made its way onto his face when Lyra looked up at him. Then he started to walk out of the room not once breaking his eye contact with her until he completely disappeared from there.
Just as he was about to climb down the stairs, he cast a lingering gaze at the room where Lyra was. Xavier had still not learned about the cause of her injury and not knowing it bothered him too much. He just wanted to rip apart the one that had hit her and the worst part was that he felt annoyed at himself for thinking like this. Who the hell was she that she was making him go through these myriads of emotions? No matter how hard he tried to suppress these feelings, they seemed to only grow with each passing day, "I don’t know what to do" he voiced out to no one in particular before turning back and stepping down the stairs before exiting the rose castle.
Back inside Lyra’s room, Blake had enough of this rootless beastman staring at his mate, "Aren’t you going to leave?’’
This caught Kaizer’s attention. With great difficulty, he removed his gaze from his bunny before looking at Blake, "And why should I do that?’’
"Huh?’’
Kaizer briefly glanced at Lyra and asked, "Why are you not saying anything?’’ he didn’t like how she stood silently without speaking up for him. Wasn’t she supposed to take responsibility for him? He was hers now and nothing could change that.
Lyra was startled by his sudden query. She looked at him with her eyes filled with confusion, "What do you mean by that?’’ What was this fellow saying? She couldn’t understand a single thing he was uttering and that look in his eyes. He looked at her seemingly in disbelief and as though she had done something very horrible to him. And the following words he said left her in utter shock.
"Take responsibility for me’’
"What?’’
Kaizer took a step towards her before repeating, "I saved you back there in the fox tribe right?’’
Lyra sighed, "Is this about that? Don’t worry, I will make sure to compensate you rightly’’ Then she glanced up at her mates trying to ask something before Kaizer interrupted her saying, "I don’t want any stupid compensation. Take me as your mate"
Utter silence ensued after those words were said. Lyra glanced at Kaizer with her eyes wide and in disbelief. Was this man kidding with her? "I will not take you as my mate....Never’’
"You heard her" Blake chimed in, "I have to say that you have quite a nerve. It might have not been easy for someone like you to talk your mind. You are a rootless bastard after all’’
"Blake...’’Lyra grabbed his arm trying to stop him. Those words sounded harsh even to her.
However, that didn’t stop Blake from speaking further. Insults freely flowed out of his mouth which were directed only at Kaizer, "I made a big mistake not killing you when you attacked my tribe. If only.....If only had I ripped your throat open that day then you wouldn’t have laid your filthy eyes on my mate. Do you think you deserve someone like my mate? You can’t even mark a female as yours, how dare a rootless beastman like you.....’’
"Blake Stop!’’ Lyra had enough. She harshly grabbed his arm while standing in front of him, "You have said enough so stop now!" She was appalled by Blake’s behavior. He had never before behaved like this and she didn’t know why he was acting this way, especially with Kaizer.
"Blake this is not like you.." Noah too voiced out his opinion on Blake’s outburst. He also was against the idea of having a rootless beastman as one of his mate’s companions but that did not mean that the would insult Kaizer. Not when he sensed a higher level of power from the said rootless beastman. It was not worth fighting such a higher leveled beast when their mate was present here. Things could go out of hand very soon and the one that would get hurt in this scenario would be their mate.
On the other hand, when Lyra turned around to look back at Kaizer, her steps flattered back. A sinister smile was hanging on his lips as he stared right at her, "Look how calm I’m bunny" he said and took a step forward making Lyra retreat, "I can always be like this if you want. I promise that I will never talk back to your other mates even when they insult me. Just let me be by your side or else I don’t know what I might do"
Black smoke started to encompass the room just as he stopped talking. The same smoke encircled Blake’s throat and slammed him against the wall.
"Ah!" a shriek left Lyra’s mouth followed by someone dragging her in a certain direction. All she could feel was a broad and warm chest against her back, "Look at him, bunny" she heard a low voice near her ear which made her flinch. But the arms encircling her waist did not allow too much movement and all she could do was stay still while she continued to hear, "Mine....you are mine!"
"Not his" Kaizer said looking at Blake before his gaze shifted to Naoh who was struggling with the Black smoke holding him captive, "And definitely not his, he is too weak to protect you"
"From who?" But what Lyra said made Kaizer frown, "What?"
She strugglingly turned back and stared into his eyes before adding, "From whom should he protect me? As I see, the only threat for me right now seems to be no one but you. You are scaring me, Kai"
Kaizer’s eyes wavered hearing her words. He looked guilty, "I didn’t mean to....I never wanted to scare you" he felt like his world was ending. He wanted the ground to split and swallow him right here. How could he? How dare he scare his precious bunny?
"Please don’t get scared of me" Kaizer pleaded while desperately cupping her face. He rained kisses all across her face as he kept mumbling, "I’m sorry, I will not do it again. Forgive me.....’’
"Then free them," Lyra said making him look at her, "Let my mates go right now" and when Kaizer seemed to hesitate, Lyra had no other option than doing this. She cupped his face back and briefly kissed his cheek before imploring, "Won’t you do this for me, Kai?"
Lyra saw a smile bloom on his face as soon she pulled back. Her heart painfully thumped against her chest giving her a hard time keeping a smile on her face which Kaizer seemed to like. She couldn’t back down now....not when her mates were in danger.
