Chapter 187: Battle for the Dinosaurs

Bono received the message that the King is a day away from them. He came fast and was not resting because he wished to have Astri no matter what it cost. That will be good for them, because tired warriors will be easier to defeat. The King’s blindness for power made everything become easier, but Bono knows he can’t underestimate someone who is moved by evil.

Astri watches everyone going through the plan once more. Skalven is watching from her side too, he will be guarding the children, so he won’t be at the battle.

"Will you be watching the battle?" Skalven asks her.

"Yes. From afar." She answers.

"It will be dangerous."

"I trust everyone. I’ll be there just in case Juno decides to go through the hard way."

He sighs, not liking this idea of her watching a dangerous battle.

"Don’t worry. This battle won’t take long." She says.

"How do you know that?"

"Because Bono is ready. Besides, we have an army of Guardians of Nature."

He smiles a little, but he’s still worried.

"If you trust them so much.. Why are you going?" He asks.

"I can mislead our enemy’s attention just standing there. Juno will see me, and once he realizes who I am, he will try to run away or attack with all he’s got. Any choice he gets, he will forget about Freyd and his army, trying to do things on his own. Freyd will also blindly battle to get me, not organizing his army properly without Juno’s help."

"I understand.. Please, don’t risk yourself more than this."

"I won’t. So! Will you come with us to the United Tribes or will you stay here with Bono?" She asks.

"Of course I’ll be going with you."

"Nice. I’m happy." She chuckles.

Caris and Carist were playing with Atlas on the ground on Astri’s side. Astri is impressed to see how much they like children, too. She wasn’t expecting that, especially from Carist, who is ruder, but he’s who likes to play the most. They didn’t have a childhood; they were abandoned by their mother after having them because their fathers were also seen as crazy and she agreed to have their heir just because they promised tons of gems.

Their father died when they were around 3 years old, and they lived alone for hundreds of years, and whenever they tried to come closer to other beastmen, they were always treated as crazy. Now they’re having the chance to live as normal beastmen, getting to know who they are more.

"Can we go too?" Carist asks Astri.

"Are you sure you two want that?" Astri asks.

"Of course we want."

"But what about Bono..?" Caris asks his brother.

"He’s a grown male, not our son. He has his father." Carist shrugs his shoulders.

"But he will need help to rebuild the kingdom, brother. I don’t think it’s a good idea to leave Bono now, Carist.." Caris softly says

"Why not? We need to protect Astri, not a grown male." Carist angrily retorts.

"I’m not saying she’s not important. She’s the most important. But if Bono dies, everything she worked for will die too. Bono dying, we will lose the chance of future people like you and me to live as normal beastmen too." Caris says.

Carist goes silent, and his silence is enough to show them he agrees with that thought.

"Don’t worry, Carist. Caris is right, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be seeing you ever again. The children also love you very much,h and I won’t let them be sad for missing you for so long." She says, holding their shoulder.

They smile and nod slowly. Bono comes to them and looks at Aurora asleep on Astri’s arms.

"I’m glad she looks more like you than with Lee." Bono jokes.

"I heard that!" Lee says, as he was feeding Albus at the table.

"He’s an eagle. He hears and sees more than any of us here." Astri giggles, saying to Bono.

"I’m glad he heard that." Bono chuckles.

"So? How are you feeling about tomorrow?" Astri asks him.

"A little anxious, but confident."

"Great, then."

She looks at her spear that he’s carrying everywhere, taking very seriously what she said to him about thinking differently. She asks Skalven to hold Aurora, then she stands up and holds the spear. She puts it between him and her vertically, and he looks at her confused, wondering why she took the spear back.

Astri takes his hand and makes him hold the spear too. The spear starts to glow between its grooves, and it starts to grow larger and taller. The spear became bigger, fit for his size and not hers. The body of the spear has a spiral carved on the wood that goes from the bottom to where the blade starts. The blade became a little bigger too, with the shape of a leaf.

"Now the spear is proper for your size. It will never break even if your beast form steps on it." She says.

"Thank you... I’ll treasure it." Bono says, looking at the spear with a big smile.

"Don’t forget. Think differently and beat up the doubt and fear."

He nods, feeling even more confident.

——

On the next day, everyone is prepared and waiting for the King to arrive. Bono is standing at the front of a line of warriors, around 800 meters away from the walls. The tall grass in front of the line goes up to most beastmen’s necks, and they see the King and his army arriving. fгeewebnovёl.com

Juno felt the energies around and he stopped to analyze things better, and stopped Freyd from continuing to walk.

"Why did you stop me, Juno?" Freyd asks, annoyed.

"I think that line of warriors with Bono is not here to welcome you, King Freyd." Juno says, looking at the front line suspiciously.

Freyd looks at Bono, who’s looking back at him with a very serious expression. Making Freyd realize that Bono doesn’t want to welcome him, he feels that Bono is challenging him, making him laugh out loud.

"That idiot... He thinks he can defeat being so much weaker than me. He thinks he can’t stop me from taking what is mine?" Freyd asks, laughing.

"And those warriors are on his side, too. I believe that they’re planning to defeat us somehow. It’s strange, we have more dinosaurs in number, but they still want to fight us." Juno says, looking around.

"I don’t care. He doesn’t stand a chance against me. Let’s go. My female is waiting for me. His head will serve as an example for people to know what they get when they challenge me." Freyd answers and keeps on marching.

His warriors keep on walking, Freyd never taking his eyes from Bono, his enemy. Bono felt the fear and doubt hit him again, but then he looked at his spear to remember what Astri said. He slaps his own chest and arm several times and never removes his eyes from Freyd’s, growling and decides to risk everything for his people’s future.

The line behind him watched him doing that, didn’t understand what that meant, but noticed that it made Bono’s energy boost, so they started to do the same. Soon, their roars are filling the air, elevating their morale and motivation to defeat their enemies. Bono smiles proudly of his warriors, and shows a confidence that made Freyd livid.

That wasn’t part of the plan, but it was very welcome and necessary for Bono’s army to boost in confidence.

From nowhere, Freyd and Juno heard muffled and quick screams from behind them. It was Ian’s team of raptors, running through the tall grass quickly and taking beastmen down with a surprise team attack.

"Raptors! We’re surrounded by them!" Juno says, running forward.

Freyd growls angrily and runs forward too, but screams his order:

"Fight back these tiny bastards!"

Some of his warriors kept running with him, but some other warriors started to shift, but since all of them are big spinosaurs, tyrannosaurus, and other similar kinds, they’re not fast enough to keep up with the raptors’ speed.

The raptors run between the tall grass, jump, and climb the bigger dinosaurs, and give them a hard time to keep on fighting because they can’t reach the raptors on their backs. So they decide to run forward too to get out of the tall grass, because that is what gives them a chance to hide and come from behind.

Being bigger made them run on the front of Juno and Freyd in no time, the first line of dinosaurs started to fall from nowhere into a trench. The raptors jumped out from them before they fell on the drench too.

Inside the trench were large spears, and the dinosaurs were now impaled on several parts of their bodies. Most of them died on contact with the spears, but some got stuck, not capable to shift back because when they shrink back, the spears will tear them apart.

Freyd looked at that trench so angry that he roared loudly. He looks at Bono, who is smiling proudly. He notices there’s a watch tower behind Bono, and then he sees Astri, who was watching everything from there with Claud and Kangki.

She smiles when he sees her, and then she waves at him. He smiles too, letting this anger fill his mind with the desire to rip Bono’s head out.
