Beastmen Love-Chapter 159: Failed Attempts

After opening his heart to Claud and Astri, Kangki felt better about staying away from Astri a little. They know it will be a process for him, but at least he’s trying. He joined Zin with his tasks and took the chance to try talking to Zin.

"May I know how you became Astri’s spouse?" Kangki asks Zin as they organize the list of things in boxes.

Zin tells his story to Kangki with a tender smile on his face.

"Astri was always very kind to me. She always protected me from people who thought I was evil just for being a snake. Eventually, people started to trust me. I really didn’t do anything to make them trust me. All I thought about was protecting and doing my best for Astri. Having their trust came naturally. Even though not all tribesmen trust me or like me. Especially females." Zin says.

"Astri protected you?"

"Yes. She even faced Shung, Ana, and her spouses.. It was so hot. Either way! Don’t worry. Astri trusts you, so I trust you too. Don’t worry. Naturally, everyone will warm up to you. Kangki smiles and nods. He wasn’t asking for advice or anything, but it came down that way naturally. All Astri’s spouses knew Kangki would have a hard time getting used to his new life, even though they didn’t have as much patience as Zin and Astri.

As the date to leave gets closer, Astri can sense none of her spouses want to go. It is an understandable feeling, their only wish is to keep her safe.

However, Astri is excited to meet new places and have some change of air. She goes to check the boys’ bedroom and sees Elias and Kai playing with the ball, and Hopin is helping Yuki with her drawing. Astri smiles, those children grew up so much it scares her a little.

"Could you finish packing, boys? I finished packing Yuki’s and Atlas’." She asks.

"We don’t have many things to bring. We chose only some toys." Elias answers.

"Good. Hopin, don’t forget to bring your winter clothes and covers."

"Yes, mom."

"Yuki, let’s go bathe, sweetheart?"

"Yes!" Yuki answers happily and stands up.

"Boys, tomorrow I’ll shift." Astri says after holding Yuki’s hand.

"Really?!" Elias and Kai excitedly say in unison.

"I never saw you shifting." Hopin says, looking so curious.

"It’s been a long time since I last shifted. I don’t know when I’ll be capable of shifting after we travel so I’ll take the chance tomorrow. Will be in the garden." Astri says.

"Awesome!" They answer in unison.

"All right."

Astri walks to them, kissing and scratching their heads.

"Good night, my boys. Sweet dreams. Don’t stay up too late."

She stands up and then uses her powers to turn off the candles. The boys lay down on their beds to get ready to sleep.

Astri goes to bathe Yuki and right after bathing Yuki was yawning sleepy already. Astri puts Yuki on her bed next to Atlas, who is already asleep.

Lately, Astri’s spouses have been having their private nights with her every day. Once all of them had at least one night she asked for some rest and that’s why Yuki and Atlas are there.

Astri looks at her spouses and all of them have puppy eyes, feeling guilty for tiring her. She rolls her eyes.

"What is it?"

"We’re sorry. We’re horrible spouses." Lee says.

"You’re not. Stop it, already. All of you."

"We are horrible spouses. We did it on purpose." Koa admits.

"What do you mean?" She asks, walking to her central spot on the bed.

"We were trying to make you pregnant so we don’t leave. Since you weren’t getting pregnant, we thought.. that making you tired would make you stay." Zin answers, feeling so guilty and looking down.

"Really?"

They nod with puppy eyes, not only Kangki.

"Don’t put me in this. I just used my turn to spend time with her alone. We had more because things just went that way naturally." Kangki says, lying on his bed.

"Shut up! Don’t tell me you don’t worryabout taking her somewhere so far and to a land of huge beastmen!" Dieg says to Kangki.

"I don’t. I can protect her. I just hate having to talk to people that are not her."

"Lier." Claud crosses his arms and Kangki only humphs back.

Astri burst out laughing from nowhere making them confused. She laughs on her pillow so she doesn’t make so many sounds, and so much that she cries.

"I didn’t need to read anyone’s mind to know what you were planning. Long ago you were trying to impregnate me. You may succeed anytime, that’s for sure." She says, laughing and cleaning her tears.

"You mentioned that to me, indeed." Tyr softly says.

She calms down after laughing so much.

"I’m sorry you need to do something you don’t want to do. You can stay and I can go by myself." She answers.

"NO!" They say in unison.

"Ssh!"

They quiet down and look at the children who were sleeping soundly, seeing they didn’t wake up made them breathe relieved.

"Listen, I know it’s the natural instinct to protect me. I feel horrible doing something you don’t want or like, but that’s what I need to do. And I feel even worse for being excited to see the world out there."

They sigh, feeling even worse now for making her feel so divided like that. All of them tried to hug her at the same time but they had to be patient or else they would smash her.

"I love all of you. It’s not that I hated making love to all of you. I’m not mad."

"I don’t deserve you. You’re so good." Dieg whines hugging her.

The others agree, and decide to let her sleep.

She gets comfortable laying her head on Cyprian’s chest.

"You know what I used to say to bullies bigger than me?" She asks them. They wait for her answer and she chuckles. "You’re big but not two. I’m small but not half."

They chuckle together.

"Don’t be afraid. There are no others like you. Remember that."

They have forgotten that entirely and that made them remember that they’re not only spouses.

Next day morning, after breakfast, Astri goes to the backyard with her kids and then she goes behind a tree to shift. Claud, Zin, Beau, and Kangki were there too.

Her children look at her so amazed with her beauty. Hopin is even shocked and almost lost his strength from his arms, almost letting Atlas fall.

"Hopin! Don’t scare me like that. Hold Atlas properly." Astri says.

"Mom... I can hear you." Hopin says, impressed.

"I can talk to any beast. It’s a Pegasus and Unicorn skill. We talk through our minds." Astri answers.

"Mom.. Ah, even your legs are warm." Kai says, rubbing his face and body on her leg like a kitten.

She lays down and lets her children hug her, including Atlas.

Xzan arrives at the castle and sees some guards trying to look at the backyard hidden. He goes inside and directly to the back door. When he sees what everyone is looking at, he’s mouth agape.

"Is that...Astri?" Xzan asks, amazed.

That’s when her spouses remembered that she was going to shift that morning and they ran outside.

"You bastards! You should have told us you came here!" Lee screeches as they run to the backyard.

"Astri warned everyone she would shift this morning. We’re not your parents to remind you of everything." Claud says.

Koa’s and Dieg’s eyes shined looking at Astri. It’s the first time they saw her beast form. Also for Kangki, even though he already saw a Pegasus long ago.

Koa and Dieg passed their hands on her neck and felt her silky and warm fur, understanding what their fellow spouses said about her beast form.

She invites him to hug her neck and he feels like on heaven. Then she looks at Kangki and invites him too. He touches her back and it’s basically what he feels always when he touches her, but more intense.

"I never saw your beast form, Kangki." Astri says, full of curiosity.

"It’s not a pretty form." He smiles.

"I’m sure it is."

"You’re handsome, fawther Kank." Yuki says.

"Am I?" He chuckles, passing his hand on her hair.

"The first time I saw him I thought he was too handsome for a Monster." Astri says.

"Really? Didn’t you hate him at first for kidnapping you?" Koa asks, hitting right where it hurts on Kangki.

"I was mad, but I didn’t hate him. Nature wanted us to meet and told me about his past. Everything happens for a reason."

Kangki smiles looking at her, then he steps back six times. He closes his eyes concentrating and then his body goes dark slowly until his body is completely engulfed in deep black. His body shines a little and shifts slowly, forming a lion with dragon wings.

The black color fades away and everyone can see Kangki’s beast form. His lion form is bigger than Tyr’s, however, his mane is black and the fur of the rest of his body is gray. He has two curled horns coming right up his ears, and his tail is of a dragon. His eyes have the same deep black color as his human form, and very white sclera. His eyes are what scares most people, but Astri and her cubs can see warmth in that black abyss.

"See? Handsome and mighty." Astri says.

"Wow! Father Kangki can fly! I wish I could fly too." Kai says, trying to tap his paws on Kangki’s wings.

Yuki hugged his front leg, so he lay down to let her come closer. She hugs his mane giggling because it tickles and then Atlas uses his mother as support to stand and then he starts to move his legs little by little, walking to Kangki.

"Oh! Claud! Atlas is walking!!" Astri says, excited.

That’s when everyone noticed Atlas walking and they cheered excitedly. Being a male makes him develop faster. He already looks like a one-year-old baby. Claud hugs and smooches Atlas many times making him giggle loudly. Atlas asks to be put down again and then he goes back walking to Kangki, curious to touch what Yuki is touching, like it’s a new toy.

Kangki had a very good feeling he never felt before. It’s so warm that he feels thrilled. The feeling of having a family.
