Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 178: Take down all enemies
Chapter 178: Take down all enemies
Nothing much happened over the past few days, but things changed quickly when rumors began to spread about a beast roaming the area and attacking anyone it came across.
Fear took hold of the residents near Camel Tower, and most chose to stay inside their units, afraid they might become the next target.
Meanwhile, Elena finally reopened her shop in Building A, and business quickly picked up as more residents arrived to stock up on supplies.
However, she noticed that only a few non-residents had shown up today.
Curious, she began listening closely and soon realized that many people were discussing the strange beast.
"I told you, I might not be able to visit this shop for a while. A wild beast is roaming around the area, so we need to stock up a lot," said the non-resident, fear clear in her voice.
"Maybe it’s just a hungry animal," one resident replied. "Its home is probably frozen, so it came down from the mountain looking for food."
The non-resident looked uneasy.
"No, it’s not just that. This thing is way too strong. A lot of residents from Building E have already died because of it. And the strange part? It doesn’t even eat the bodies—it just kills and moves on. So it’s not hunting out of hunger."
"That is strange," the resident said, frowning.
"It’s like... It’s searching for something," the non-resident added.
"Anyway, we should only come out once a week to buy supplies. It’s too risky."
"Alright, I’m listening to you. But what do you think it is?"
The other resident shook his head slowly.
"I don’t know. But I don’t think it’s just a regular beast."
Some believed it was a tiger—but not quite—since its skin was pitch-black and covered in deep wounds, yet it still roamed as if unfazed.
Others thought it might be a wolf, given its massive teeth, sharp enough to tear through anything.
No one could say for sure, but everyone agreed on one thing—it was far too strong and dangerous to be ordinary.
Elena quietly listened to the residents as they spoke in hushed voices about the creature.
From everything she heard, Elena finally concluded.
It had to be a mutated beast.
The real issue now was figuring out its tier.
If it were tierless, it could be taken down with clever tactics. But if it were Tier 1 or higher, they would need stronger weapons even to stand a chance.
Noticing his wife drifting into deep thought again, Ethan gently interrupted her.
"Wife, what’s on your mind?" he asked softly.
"Have you heard the rumors going around?" she replied.
"You mean the strange beast? Is there something wrong?"
"It’s definitely mutated," she said with a firm tone. "We need to stay alert for now."
Ethan raised his brows slightly.
These mutated creatures had managed to survive both the massive flood and the extreme cold.
Their toughness was beyond anything he had expected.
"Alright," he said, shifting his gaze to the customers moving through the shop, busy choosing supplies.
With a mutated beast roaming the area, criminals keeping an eye on their shop, unknown enemies threatening his wife, and a looming disaster on the horizon, the situation felt overwhelming.
But what could they do?
Instead of running or hiding, they chose to face everything head-on.
If one enemy came, they would take it down with all their strength. If two showed up, they would fight fiercely until no enemy was left.
Ethan looked at his wife with strong determination, ready to protect their family no matter what.
"By the way, Oslo mentioned that General Kaiser has been pestering the shop, saying they need to buy some information. What should we do?"
"Let’s schedule a meeting for tomorrow," Elena replied. "
"They’ve been here for almost a week now, and I feel they’re in a hurry to return to the military base and report what they’ve learned."
"Alright, I’ll contact Oslo to set up the time."
Soon after, they assisted Jessa and Lydia in managing the shop, while Andrei and Daniel handled the packing of supplies.
Business was booming.
Word of the mysterious shop had spread, attracting brave residents from other areas despite the harsh, freezing weather.
The extreme cold didn’t deter them—they came with hope, eager to stock up on supplies.
At first, many were skeptical about the rumors, unsure if the shop was real or just exaggerated gossip.
But once they successfully exchanged legitimate supplies, their doubts vanished.
Overjoyed, they returned home and spread the news far and wide.
Some even moved permanently into one of the Camel Tower buildings for easier access to the shop, causing the number of residents in the area to grow significantly.
"Here are your orders. Please check them before you leave," Lydia said as she prepared to assist the next customer.
The woman examined her goods—rice, warm fabric, dried noodles, and a variety of canned goods.
She had also purchased jerky, hoping it would help her family enjoy meat without worrying about spoilage.
She had traveled with other residents from her community, knowing it was safer in a group.
"It’s all good," the woman confirmed.
"Alright, next."
"Hello, I’d like to buy medicine for fever and cough. Do you also have insulin for diabetes?" the next customer asked.
"Yes, we do. How many would you like?" Lydia replied.
"I’ll take 20 units of the fever and cough medicine, and the rest can be insulin," the non-resident said urgently.
He had been deeply worried—his father’s diabetes medication was nearly gone.
Learning that the shop carried it relieved him so much that he nearly cried.
"Alright, let me check your points... You have 10,000 points. Please enjoy some soup while I pack your order," Lydia replied, handing him an order slip.
"Thank you," he said gratefully.
It was almost 3 PM, and customers still lined up to buy items.
They had been working nonstop in the shop for nearly six hours.
Just as they were about to take a break, Oslo quickly contacted Ethan with bad news—someone was shooting at their main shop from far away.
The worst part was that no one could pinpoint where the bullets were coming from.
"Take cover for now. I’ll check the rooftop," Ethan said calmly, activating his [Telepathy] skill to respond.
Sensing something was wrong, Elena immediately asked him what was happening.
Ethan quickly explained what Oslo had reported.
After a brief exchange, they both came to the same conclusion—the criminals were back, seeking revenge.
