Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 176: [Building] function
Chapter 176: [Building] function
It had been two days since Elena and Ethan paused their shop operations in Building A to give the residents time to recover from their recent injuries.
If too many outsiders kept coming to buy supplies, the residents would be forced to stay on guard, making it harder for them to rest and heal.
After thinking it through, Elena decided it was best to close the shop temporarily.
Of course, she had given out free medicine to help everyone recover.
Since their shop was one of the main reasons the building had been attacked, it only made sense for them to support its recovery—a gesture that reflected Elena’s commitment to mutual benefit.
But after that initial act of kindness, Elena knew she had to return to reality—business was still business.
If anyone needed more medicine, they would have to pay for it. It was a harsh truth, but one that everyone had to accept.
Today marked Elena’s two-month pregnancy, and Ethan smiled warmly as he gently caressed her belly, feeling a deep sense of joy and anticipation.
"How do you feel now? Any reactions or discomfort?" he asked softly, his eyes filled with concern.
"Nothing at all. Just a normal day—the baby doesn’t bother me much," she replied with a hint of relief in her voice.
She hadn’t experienced any vomiting, unlike what she often saw on TV dramas.
Maybe those portrayals were exaggerated to make pregnancy seem more dramatic, she thought.
"Then the baby is behaving well," Ethan said, gazing at her belly with admiration and curiosity.
Still, he noticed that the bump seemed a bit larger than what he’d read about pregnancies at this stage.
He recalled that carrying twins could sometimes cause the belly to show earlier.
’Is my wife carrying twins?’ he wondered, a flicker of concern crossing his mind.
But he quickly brushed the thought aside, reminding himself that every pregnancy is different and reactions vary from person to person.
Besides, Elena mentioned that the baby was protected by a spiritual energy force, which might explain the unusual signs.
The main issue was that the medical equipment couldn’t detect the baby’s exact condition, which left both of them feeling a bit uneasy.
Despite their worries, Elena and Ethan were excited to welcome new life.
"What do you want to eat now? I’ve noticed you don’t eat kimchi anymore," Ethan asked, noticing how her tastes had gradually changed.
There was a time when he prepared exactly what she craved, but by the time the meal was served, she often found herself wanting something completely different from the flavors he had served.
After thinking for a while, Elena replied, "This time, I’m craving something sour."
"Alright, I’ll prepare it now."
After finishing their breakfast and having nothing else to do, they quickly teleported to Lydia’s current location in space.
They had asked her to design a blueprint for their future house a while ago, and she agreed without hesitation.
Ethan kept pestering Elena, insisting that with the baby on the way, a cozy and comfortable house was exactly what their growing family needed.
In the end, Elena relented—though she was also secretly excited.
She decided to try the [Building] function from the Golden Tablet and see how it works.
The only drawback was that it required a significant amount of spiritual energy.
But Ethan wasn’t worried. He was confident they could gather more spirit-imbued items later to replenish what was used.
Standing at the edge of the Northern Black Soil sector, they saw Aunt Liza busy tending to the healthy herbs growing in the field, while her daughter, Little Mia, chatted happily about her day.
When Little Mia spotted them approaching, she became so excited that she quickly left her mother without hesitation and ran to greet her sister, Elena.
"Sis Ewe, you’re hewe! How is my nephew?" she asked eagerly, having heard from her mom that she would soon become an aunt, which thrilled her.
Ethan frowned at her words and quickly corrected her, "It’s your niece."
"No, nephew!" Mia insisted, clearly annoyed.
Elena chuckled, knowing this playful debate about the baby’s gender always came up whenever they met.
"Alright, enough," she interrupted, looking at her husband sternly.
"Why are you arguing with Little Mia? She’s just a kid."
"Sis Ewe, wook at my basket! I harvested hewbs just like Mom told me," Little Mia said proudly.
"Little Mia’s a big girl now. Time really flies. Okay, go back to your work—Sis Ele needs to talk to your Sis Lydia."
"Sis Ewe, I want to come with you! I miss you," she pleaded, her sweet expression making it hard to say no.
Elena smiled, unable to resist. "Alright, but go ask your mom’s permission first."
Little Mia nodded eagerly and ran to her mother. "Mom, can I go with Sis Ewe?"
"You just left me here and ran off without even looking back," Aunt Liza said, pretending to be sad.
"Sorry, Mom! I just got excited to see Sis Ewe," Little Mia replied, kissing her mom’s cheek.
"Okay, I forgive you this time."
Elena smiled as she looked at them, then greeted Aunt Liza, "How are the herbs and medicines coming along?"
"We can now produce over-the-counter drugs like fever medicine, cough syrup, and more. Our team is planning to expand soon," Aunt Liza replied.
Elena nodded, knowing that medicine would be essential moving forward.
"That’s good to hear, Aunt Liza. By the way, is Lydia busy?"
"Not that I know of. You can just visit her in the lab," she answered.
"Alright, then we’ll be on our way."
Elena gently took Little Mia’s small hand and quickly stepped into the lab, which made Ethan frown slightly, feeling a little jealous of his niece.
Elena chuckled and winked at him, motioning for him to take her other hand, which made Ethan smile.
Together, they walked on like a perfect family.
Inside, they saw Lydia taking notes from a machine, likely experimenting.
"Busy?" Elena asked.
Hearing the voice behind her, Lydia turned and saw Elena.
"Not really. Are you here for the blueprint?"
"Yes. Have you finished it already?" Elena asked.
"I have. Take a look," Lydia said, handing over the four-page plan.
The house they planned to build was not just a house—it was a large and fully equipped mansion, perfect for a young family expecting a baby.
It had a big master bedroom with lots of space and a second room that would be used as a nursery.
There was also a playroom for children, a study room for work or reading, a fancy bathroom, and even a swimming pool.
The kitchen and dining area were open and connected, making it easy for the family to spend time together.
Big windows brought in plenty of sunlight, making the whole place feel warm and bright.
The backyard was gated and safe, with lots of space for kids to play.
Elena studied the blueprint and decided it was good enough for now; they could make changes later if needed.
She then teleported to the Central Haven sector, in the heart of the Community Section, ready to activate the [Building] function.
But she was surprised to see most of her people gathered there, eager to watch the event.
Thanks to the [Telepathy] skill everyone has now, news spreads quickly.
The children were also thrilled, running and playing around the area.
"Go ahead, Elena. We just want to watch," Grandpa Caldwell said excitedly.
His voice was full of curiosity about how the Golden Tablet would build the house automatically.
Without any hesitation, Elena summoned the Golden Tablet.
