Chapter 50: Chapter 44 Crisis Everywhere_1

“Is this… a zombie?”

From the rooftop, Li Ming stared in shock at the grotesquely oversized zombie in his line of sight, feeling his eyes about to bulge out of his head.

As tall as a five-story building, with arms long enough to run a horse on, its body presenting a pale flesh color, a bald head covered with hardened flesh, it was steadily making its way towards the north end of the city.

Li Ming did not know what to call this creature. The first word that came to his mind was “zombie,” yet what kind of zombie could have such an exaggerated figure?

Furthermore, isn’t this creature’s mutation too horrifying!

Li Ming intently observed the monster’s terrifying form for a while, then finally snapped back to reality, no longer shocked by its appearance and instead started pondering its purpose.

“What is it heading north for?”

Li Ming was puzzled, but then he saw. The strange zombie unexpectedly stopped in the middle of a park, standing still on a vacant square.

“What is it doing here?”

Doubt filled Li Ming’s mind again as he diverted his gaze around the giant zombie. Eventually, he noticed something in front of it– a crystal?

“What is this?”

Li Ming was confused. Could it be that this zombie came here for this crystal?

His mind instinctively thought of the transparent crystal he obtained from another mysterious zombie’s brain…

Shaking his head, Li Ming gave the crystal and the zombie a deep glance. Even if this large-looking crystal indeed had an extraordinary function, it was now under the zombie’s control, and he couldn’t get his hands on it.

He had clearly watched the zombie crush a vehicle with one foot earlier. He knew that with his current strength, he would be the one to die even if he drove a car into it.

Suppressing these thoughts, Li Ming then got worried about something else – whether this zombie will pose a threat to his safety.

By estimating their distance, he figured out an unsettling fact – they were no more than three kilometers apart.

Three kilometers…

“We should go now.”

Li Ming made a decisive decision. While looking around with his telescope, he was about to put it away and leave when he saw something that made his scalp tingle.

Over ten limb-like tentacles popped out from a residential building, soaring high into the sky. Each tentacle’s tip boasted a big eyeball with sharp teeth and mouth. Right now, they were all staring intently at the giant zombie, just like Li Ming.

The tentacles were constantly moving, but the eyeballs never stopped looking at the giant zombie to the north.

The most crucial thing was… the building with the eyeballs was surprisingly the one across the internet cafe Li Ming visited a few days ago!

Seeing this twisting monster reaching towards the sky, Li Ming felt his scalp tingle and a sense of dread in his heart.

“No wonder I felt a chill when I was there. Could it be this thing was secretly watching me?”

Thinking about the scene, Li Ming felt a shiver down his spine and a wave of fear in his heart.

If he had searched the opposite side that day…

Li Ming exhaled, looked carefully at the position and appearance of the eyeball monster, and then adjusted his telescope to examine all the surrounding areas.

He had to see if there were any such monsters around.

What relieved him was that there were no more bizarre beings when he scanned around, but the scene in one location made his heart sink.

“This place is a nearby entertainment district and night market, right? There are so many zombies…”

Looking at the sight of the street jam-packed with zombies, so much so that it seemed like the entire street was overrun by zombies, especially several extraordinarily colored ones that were obviously different from common zombies made Li Ming’s eyes narrow.

Mutated zombies! There are so many of them!

Confirming the locations of these seemingly special zombie individuals, Li Ming looked around again and saw nothing else unusual. Relieved, he slowly put down his binoculars.

“I hadn’t expected so much hidden danger around here.”

Not to mention the colossal zombies of the ‘annihilation’ tier, but even the unsafe looking eye zombies are just a few hundred meters away, and the zombie-filled street is just two blocks away.

He should have noticed this environment sooner, but he had never thought to climb to the rooftop with a pair of binoculars before.

Otherwise, just with the zombies on the street, he wouldn’t have continued developing his mind power and would’ve left this dangerous place as soon as possible.

“If I remember correctly, there’s a logistics station nearby that has a big truck and it isn’t far from here…”

Leaning against the wall and resting for a moment, Li Ming suddenly thought of the appearance of the giant zombie. The nearby monsters would surely be triggered to emerge, making it the key time to check for danger.

Considering his own plan, he didn’t intend to waste the three refrigerators in the supermarket. Along with his own refrigerator, the four large ones, two generators, six barrels of oil, and a pile of food and hardware, the light-duty truck underneath the building couldn’t handle it all.

As for giving things up… it wasn’t impossible, but he was still a little reluctant.

All these were his guarantees for a post-apocalyptic life!

Pondering, Li Ming couldn’t help but look again at the monster and the crowded zombies on the street near the internet cafe. He then started to turn and head in the opposite direction of the monster near the cafe.

He sighed with relief, glad that the logistics station wasn’t in that area, otherwise, he would probably have had to abandon many of his supplies.

He looked through his binoculars at the streets leading from the residential area to the logistics station; the first street was virtually zombie-free, although the last two sections were obstructed and unclear.

However, having just experienced the incident with the eye monsters, he wasn’t as reckless as before. He didn’t immediately put away his binoculars but carefully remembered the number of zombies on each street.

Then he took a deep look at the zombie scarier than the Titan, another look at the eye monster, and the street full of zombies, then silently retracted his binoculars. He then locked the iron door of the stairwell and descended from the seventh floor.

Li Ming’s steps were light but powerful, taking five or six steps at once and reached the fifth floor in no time.

Upon reaching the fifth floor, he stopped to see a frightened Chen Li anxiously standing in the corridor. Behind her, inside the open door, he could see her mother holding her daughter.

Seeing Li Ming, Chen Li quickly approached and asked, “Li Ming, do you know what just happened? Why was there suddenly a sensation of shaking?”

Chen Li’s face was filled with tension. Looking back, Li Ming saw that the two people in her house were also scared.

“I just saw a monster outside from the rooftop using the binoculars. It’s very scary. I’m going to look for a car and leave here today. You should go back and pack up, but don’t take too much stuff.”

Li Ming shook his head and gestured with the binoculars in his hand. His voice was heavy, “Having two cars isn’t safe. If I can find a large truck, there’s a small sleeper berth in the cab. Don’t bother driving an extra car. You can squeeze into the cab with me and Zhang Yuan. The berth should be large enough for the three of you.”

“Monster…”

Chen Li breathed anxiously, not understanding what the monster was, but she could tell from Li Ming’s tone that it was certainly not easy to deal with. She promptly agreed and hurried back to her room to prepare.

Li Ming showed no hesitation and went back to his own house.

“Knock knock knock, open the door, it’s Li Ming.”

At the bedroom door, Li Ming knocked softly. Zhang Yuan, who heard the sound, quickly opened the door, then saw Li Ming’s grim face.

“What happened, honey? What’s going on outside?”

Seeing Li Ming’s expression, Zhang Yuan was somewhat panicky and couldn’t help asking.

“A monster has arrived outside. We need to leave here quickly. Don’t worry, this is a good thing. It helps us to make up our minds to leave here. I’m going to find a suitable car now, and you pack our luggage at home.”

Li Ming touched Zhang Yuan’s face, speaking softly. Zhang Yuan’s breath trembled, and she nodded repeatedly.

Li Ming motioned for her not to worry. Then he grabbed a crowbar and strapped it to his backpack, added some drill bits, took a gun sword, and headed out the door.

Before he left, he picked up the drone.
