Chapter 25: Chapter 24 Ideas_1

The reason for not staying up late online is because of getting older and having other pursuits, but there are always young people, people without pursuits, without pressure, without goals.

So, there are always people staying up late in the internet café, just like these zombies in front of me.

“Damn it, staying up late instead of going home and sleeping.”

Li Ming looked at the faintly visible zombies in the internet café, twitching at the corner of his mouth, pulled over a large green trash bin, filled with garbage nearby, blocking the door to set up a barrier.

He then uses glass beads to ping on the glass door to attract the attention of the zombies inside the internet café.

“Hehe….”

Three zombies that had been wandering around the entrance were indeed attracted, they finally break the glass door under the continuous throwing of the glass balls by Li Ming and walk outside, they smell Li Ming’s scent and instantly roar madly and pounce at him.

“Chichi…”

Li Ming swiftly kills the three zombies, sees the zombies inside the internet café suddenly boiling, grits his teeth, steps across the trash bin and stands at the door, crazily attacking the zombies rushing out of the glass door.

“Hehehe…”

“Chichi…”

After killing seven zombies in succession, the glass doors on both sides are finally squeezed open by the zombies. Li Ming quickly retreats to the rear, hiding behind the trash bin. Using the convenience of the bin to obstruct, he continuously segregates and kills the last dozen zombies rushing out from inside the internet café.

These zombies look terrifying but they aren’t fast, allowing Li Ming just enough opportunity. His decent spear skills let him control where he wants to stab.

And each strike is consistently executed with stability, strength, and accuracy.

Like this, it didn’t take much time and the last remaining nocturnal internet addict zombie dies under Li Ming’s spear.

“Ch…”

Pulling the spearhead from the skull of the last zombie, Li Ming rubbed the spearhead clean on their clothes, sighing a breath of relief soon after, all the while looking at the empty surroundings with a sense of urgency.

He didn’t dare to delay any longer, quickly walked into the internet café with a spear, skillfully finds the storage room, and finally discovers the generator he had been thinking about.

The best part is, there are ten liters of diesel in the bucket next to it.

“Thanks for the generous gift, mate.”

Li Ming’s face lit up with joy when he saw these items. He didn’t waste any time, while clutching the spear in his right hand, he lifts the generator, briskly heading towards his off-road vehicle.

The whole street was deserted, only littered with zombie corpses. Li Ming walked quickly past, putting the generator in the trunk of the off-road vehicle, then went back to get the large bucket of diesel, and along the way, took away several boxes of instant noodles and a fridge full of drinks from the internet café.

After putting all the things in the trunk, Li Ming wanted to leave. However, he spots a pharmacy nearby, grits his teeth and walks in.

“Hehe…”

There were only two zombies inside the pharmacy, easily dealt with by Li Ming. He quickly took most of the antipyretics, anti-inflammatory drugs, cold medicines, diarrhea medicines, hemostatics, analgesics from the shelves, also took three boxes of medical alcohol, iodophor.

Then he found a box of condoms, some contraceptives, some blood-enriching and kidney-nourishing drugs, all carried to the off-road vehicle. Without any hesitation, he quickly drove away.

“Hum…”

The car is moving quickly. This time Li Ming reverses for about a hundred meters and stops at the entrance of a hardware store.

He walks in quickly, takes care of the shop owner turned zombie, his eyes immediately fixed on the meter-long crowbars inside, a total of five, all taken to the off-road vehicle by Li Ming.

Then he finds iron chains, straps, bulbs, drill bits, electric pickaxes, hammers, axes, knives, steel bars, iron bars, pliers, screws and other items in the store. Li Ming loads up his off-road vehicle with as much as he could fit, takes everything that could be used, and finally starts the off-road vehicle to the community.

“Hum…”

The car moves quickly. Since he had already walked the route once, he didn’t encounter any zombies. So, in no time at all, he drove into the community.

Li Ming unloads the generator, the diesel, and the goodies from the internet café, all transported inside the supermarket. There is not much room left in his home. He spent some time inside installing the diesel generator, connecting it to the refrigerator, reopening it in the storage room.

“Beep beep beep…”

The sudden sound of the generator was noisy. Li Ming quickly closed the storeroom door and it was much better instantly. He went to check on the refrigerator, seeing the voltage was stable, he left, locked the outer door and closed the roller shutter.

The sound instantly disappeared.

Li Ming lets out a light sigh, thought for a moment. He didn’t hurry to the gas station now but parks the off-road vehicle downstairs of the apartment building, unloads the medicines and the tools from the hardware store, then carries a bunch of stuff to the fifth floor.

“You brought back so much stuff.”

Zhang Yuan spotted Li Ming returning from her window early on. She rushed to open the door for him as soon as he reached the fifth-floor stairwell, and seeing that he had brought back a pile of medicines, she quickly took them from him in surprise.

“The internet café and the hardware store are close by. On the way back, I grabbed a lot of commonly used medicines from a pharmacy. There’s also stuff from the hardware store. I have quite a lot; you’ll need to come back downstairs and pick up the rest with me.”

Li Ming beckoned to Zhang Yuan and spoke.

Zhang Yuan’s eyes lit up and she nodded vigorously. However, she was puzzled when Li Ming stopped at the neighbour’s door at the stairwell and knocked.

Zhang Yuan looked over curiously, after a while the door was opened by a woman with a rather enviable figure.

A very familiar neighbor.

“What’s up?”

Upon seeing Li Ming outside with a very slender woman – also a neighbour, Chen Li opened her mouth wide and asked him.

After seeking Li Ming out this morning, she hurried home to be with her daughter, trying to shield the child from the unpleasant realities of their situation. Seeing Li Ming knocking at her door now, her initial thought was that he might want seafood again.

She originally thought about how to handle it with her daughter. However, seeing Zhang Yuan with him made her realize it probably wasn’t what she thought, and she let out a slight sigh of relief.

“I’ve gone and found some stuff. Come help me carry it.”

Unabashedly, Li Ming waved his hand. With so many things to carry, the more hands, the better.

“Ah, okay. Let me put on my shoes.”

Hearing it was just moving some things, the slightly flustered Chen Li quickly acknowledged, told her daughter to stay put, swiftly put on some sneakers, and followed Li Ming downstairs.

Throughout their conversation, Zhang Yuan’s gaze continually appraised the woman. A woman’s intuition told her that the relationship between Li Ming and this woman wasn’t simple. She didn’t know what to think until she was led downstairs by Li Ming to retrieve the medicines and ascend the stairs alongside the woman.

Li Ming followed behind the two women, carrying a bunch of hardware supplies. Along the way, he deliberately allowed the two women to scrutinize each other. Seeing the invasion in Zhang Yuan’s eyes as she looked over Chen Li unabashedly, Chen Li reflexively evaded her gaze. Li Ming chuckled to himself.

It was only when they brought the things back into his room that Li Ming introduced them with a smile.

“This is Zhang Yuan, my roommate.”

Li Ming started by introducing Zhang Yuan to Chen Li. Zhang Yuan flashed a smile and waved at Chen Li, saying, “Hello.”

Chen Li awkwardly returned the greeting with a smile and a ‘hi’.

“This is Chen Li. We just met today, but from now on, she’ll be with me too. We three will survive together in this apocalypse.”

Li Ming then introduced Chen Li to Zhang Yuan while smiling. It was now Chen Li’s turn to blush, while Zhang Yuan’s smile turned strained.

After the introduction, without giving them much time to think, Li Ming again had them come down and help him with the rest of the hardware supplies. The two of them teamed up to lift a heavy box while Li Ming carried another one; moving in unison to the fifth floor. The struggle they faced lightened the tension between them considerably.

After everything had been brought in and put away, Li Ming finally felt that he had settled the items he found.

After that, noticing an unusual atmosphere between the two women, he pulled them both into a hug. He then left them to rest at home as he ventured out again, long spear in hand.

He had to figure out how to acquire diesel fuel for the generator, that way, they could maintain a normal lifestyle.

Since he was already out today, he figured he might as well resolve all their problems in one fell swoop!

The moment he left, Zhang Yuan, stood by the window, watching Li Ming depart with worry in her eyes.

Chen Li initially thought about following Zhang Yuan back to her place, but upon seeing a man sitting on the bed, calling Zhang Yuan ‘wife,’ she promptly made a weird face and backed out.

As Zhang Yuan watched Li Ming drive away, her heart was filled with a mixture of emotions. But after agonizing for a while and looking at her worthless husband sitting on the bed, she found peace.

Yeah, she was drawn to Li Ming because he gave her the courage to live in these dire times. She wanted to rely on him for survival. Even if she liked him, having one more person to lean on in this apocalyptic era wasn’t so bad…

Even if it meant having the kind of relationship between two women who share a man, such things did exist before the end of the world, so their current situation was pretty commonplace.

Upon thinking about it carefully, as long as she could be with Li Ming, this wasn’t a big deal.

Also, considering her status…
