Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Pulling Ye Xuan as an Ally

This was not a good sign. She thought about how everything would be ruined if the rains persisted and flooded everywhere.

"It looks like we have to go out and collect construction materials supplies. Daddy, do you know any place where we can get different construction materials?" Chu Miao asked after thinking about the future.

"I do know a few companies. What construction materials do you want to collect?" Her father asked.

"All of them. Everything available should be collected because we don’t know what will happen in the future. Also, the streets are starting to flood and we don’t know how long the rain will last.

Let’s go collect them before they get soaked." Chu Miao explained her reasoning.

"Okay, then we can go to different places so that we can do more in a short time." Father Chu suggested.

"Alright, give us a list of companies and workshops so that we can go now."

After thirty minutes, everyone knew where they were going. They still decided to move as teams of two like before.

Chu Miao and her brother were going to collect pre-cast materials, her father and mother were going to collect cement, and her grandfather and butler were going to collect prefabricated homes.

"There are still other materials but we can collect them another time. Also, if you find usable machines, take them too." Grandpa Chu suggested and everyone prepared to leave.

They had left the space at 11.00 am and it was almost noon.

Before they got up Grandpa Chu seems to have thought of something and asked Chu Hao to go call Ye Xuan if he was home.

"Grandpa, why are you calling for Ye Xuan?" Chu Miao felt her heart flatter when she heard Ye Xuan’s name. She had been so busy that she hadn’t thought of him at all, but now that he was mentioned, she kind of missed him.

"Like I said, if we are going to do something about the apocalypse, we can’t do it alone. We will need more people. People who have the heart to fight, and people we can trust.

I haven’t known that young man for long, but I know he can be trusted. Let’s see what he thinks about this mission." Grandpa Chu explained.

While he wanted to take this opportunity to give the young couple time to bond and grow closer, he indeed thought that Ye Xuan would be a good partner who could help his granddaughter accomplish her goals.

Chu Hao left and came back less than five minutes later with Ye Xuan.

"How are you Grandpa Chu, hello Uncle, auntie, second grandpa Chu." He first greeted the elders then turned to Chu Miao, "Hello Miao." He wasn’t even using her surname anymore. How cunning.

"Hello Xiao Xuan."

"Hello."

They answered in unison.

"Come on, sit down. Bunny, go get Xiao Xuan a glass of water." Grandpa Chu welcomed him enthusiastically.

Chu Miao got up without a word and went to get him water. Just like last time, she added some spring water.

If they were going out on a mission, it’s better if he is in tiptop condition. At least, that’s the excuse she came up with this time for giving him spring water.

The spring water was not as diluted as it was the last time. It’s effect was even better. Chu Miao thought that, since the man had already figured it out, there was no need to hide so much.

When Ye Xuan took a sip of the water in the glass he noticed the difference immediately, but he didn’t say anything and didn’t show any change of expression on his face.

"Xiao Xuan, we are going out to look for building supplies. This world does seem like it would be back to normal anytime soon.

We thought that since the production of many things has ceased, it’s better to salvage whatever is useful. We might need to rebuild later.

What do you think, do you want to join us on this mission?" Grandpa Chu explained his purpose for asking him over.

Ye Xuan was overjoyed that they considered working with him. It showed that they had accepted him a little more.

"Of course, Grandpa Chu, I am very willing to join the mission. I had also thought of the same thing because we cannot depend on the government anymore.

I just didn’t expect you to have the same plan." Ye Xuan explained while trying to suppress his excitement.

"Did something happen in the government?" Father Chu felt that there was something fishy with the statement Ye Xuan made.

"While people are dying and cities are overrun by zombies, the leaders at the top are fighting for power. They came to distribute emergency supplies a few days ago, but such an act was long overdue.

It turned out that the Vice president mutated and turned into a zombie, and while the president is fine, he didn’t awaken any superpower.

If it wasn’t for his teenage daughter awakening a strength-type superpower that allows her to punch holes in concrete walls, the people below the president would have already killed him or ousted him.

Some of the leaders have taken a part of the military as private armies. Only a section of the army who are truly dedicated to serving the country refused to be used as private soldiers and remained under the command of their leaders.

Unfortunately, such a choice has made it difficult to get resources from the government. They can only find their own way to equip the army and feed them.

In fact, the supplies given to the citizens and said that they were emergency supplies were actually the ones meant for those soldiers.

Many leaders have been busy hoarding supplies for their own benefits. From what I found out, they are already building safe bases for citizens to seek refuge in.

But with such a corrupt system and divided opinions, only heavens knows what those bases would be like and what price the citizens would have to pay to obtain that safety." Ye Xuan had never talked so much before. However, he wanted everyone to understand what was happening.

"These beasts, I gave them a warning almost a month in advance and instead of devising strategies to protect the citizens, they are busy using that information to grab power.

How utterly despicable." Grandpa Chu was so angry that he let the cat out of the bag without noticing.
