Unparalleled Evolution: I became the lord of the Silver Legion
Chapter 35 - Thirty-Five: Leaving Greenfield (1)
Chapter Thirty-Five: Leaving Greenfield (1)
Captain Gilbert gnashed his teeth in anger, but he was truly helpless in this matter. It might take his Platinum Legion a while before they arrived at Greenfield Planet, even with an ultra battleship.
So he had used the randomised network to get in touch with an assassination organisation from Greenfield Planet. He couldn’t do that again within a short time, as it cost a significant amount of energy and other resources.
Now that the personnel in question wanted more pay, he could only oblige if he wanted the work to be completed faster.
A fierce glint flashed past his eyes as he muttered:
"Fine. You get two slots."
Shadow chuckled, his voice grating on Captain Gilbert’s ears. The mask on Shadow’s face shifted slightly as he nodded.
"Consider it done. It just so happens that I discovered some clues recently. I only need to tail a certain Void Ship."
Captain Gilbert’s lips curved into a faint smile as he advised:
"Remember, be careful, and do not underestimate the target. Otherwise, you’ll lose a layer of skin... and I’m not joking."
Shadow waved his hand to disconnect the call, his lackadaisical voice lingering in the room:
"Sure."
It was clear he didn’t take Captain Gilbert’s words seriously.
"Arrogant idiot." Gilbert sneered.
When the morning rays poured into Valen’s room, he woke up and performed a simple exercise routine.
Such a routine had not been a problem for him before, but with remnant scars from last night’s injury still lingering, he had to grit his teeth just to get through it.
After taking a shower and changing into a clean set of clothes, he departed from his room via the balcony on a floating platform.
To his surprise, the first thing he saw was a motorcycle within the villa’s courtyard.
’Oh. It came?’
Valen landed beside the motorcycle, admiring its appearance. It was cool to the touch, and its colour was a glistening obsidian.
After inspecting all the functions of the powered motorcycle, Valen was just about to store it in his Inventory Ring when a cough sounded from behind him.
"Ahem. Greetings, young master."
Valen glanced back and saw Mr. Hector approaching on a floating platform. Behind him were multiple other household workers, causing Valen to wear a slightly odd expression.
As though noticing his confusion, Mr. Hector clarified:
"It’s no cause for alarm, young master. We’re only here to wish you a safe journey ahead. And we hope you will one day become someone this world remembers as a hero."
Valen was startled for a moment, then his heart warmed as he smiled at the people before him. They may not be related by flesh and blood, but he would treat them as close companions.
"Thanks everyone for your support. I, too, hope I return from the Astral Veil and am remembered by all."
Everyone chuckled as they exchanged lighthearted jokes before Valen chose to depart. He not only stored the powered motorcycle in his Inventory Ring, but also took one floating platform with him.
If he had something like this, when he sustained injuries last night, he could have easily flown back to the city rather than walking all the way there.
This also reminded him that he needed to check the Silver Commander Power Suit he had obtained yesterday. Due to a series of events, he had not been able to properly inspect it after the battle last night.
After some thought, he decided he would only do so once he was in a place clear of people. The Silver Legion possessed enemies with frightening power. This was clear from the fact that they had been defeated long ago.
Alex had even said that some of them still existed. Right now, he couldn’t afford to take unnecessary risks.
In no time, he arrived at the White Star City Energised Chamber, and a feeling of nostalgia hit him when he saw the crowd of Evolvers outside the venue.
Turbo buses soon began to flood the area, carrying them to the location where they would board the Void Ship.
Valen would be lying if he said he wasn’t excited. What did the world on the other side of the abyss look like?
He also spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd, such as Edward, Jerome, Conrad, Maurice, and Forgotten Maple. They boarded the turbo buses ahead of him, and Valen did not have the opportunity to exchange pleasantries.
He also noticed the ever-calm Tristan and an extremely composed red-haired teenager. Valen did not waste time identifying others and also boarded a turbo bus.
The turbo buses shot through the city like an arrow, carrying hundreds of Evolvers toward White Star City’s central district.
As the vehicle moved, more buses joined from different directions. Some came from the northern districts, others from the eastern and western regions.
Each fleet carried participants from different Energised Chambers across White Star City. Through the transparent windows, Valen could see countless young Evolvers wearing expressions ranging from excitement to nervousness.
The closer they got to the city centre, the denser the traffic became. Eventually, the convoy arrived at a colossal plaza.
The moment Valen stepped out of the bus, his eyes narrowed slightly. The plaza was enormous.
Thousands upon thousands of Evolvers had already gathered there. Looking around, Valen estimated there were well over five thousand participants.
Above the crowd floated giant holographic screens displaying information about the Astral Veil, which Valen carefully read.
Beyond the plaza stood massive defensive walls and countless military personnel maintaining order. The atmosphere was both lively and solemn, as parents gathered at a distance, shouting words of support to their sons and daughters.
Everyone understood that today marked the beginning of a new Chapter in their lives, so they were both tense and excited.
As time passed, more buses continued arriving, and Valen was beginning to get bored. Suddenly, a loud mechanical sound echoed from the sky.
RUMBLE!
The noise instantly drew everyone’s attention as numerous heads tilted upward.
Then countless gasps echoed throughout the plaza.
