The Kitty Became a Cutie and Was Pampered in the 80s
Chapter 1971: Wolf Cubs (4)
Look at Ruan Jianguo now, he’s so handsome, though a bit tanned, but he’s matured, and he has a car, a house, and money too.
Ruan Jiaojiao felt she should do something, so she took out her phone and edited a text message to Shu Jiao. She noticed since last time that her mom clearly still had lingering feelings for Ruan Jianguo. Back then, the divorce was probably because she couldn’t get past her own emotional hurdle. But now, perhaps that hurdle doesn’t compare to the fear of truly losing Ruan Jianguo.
It takes a full two-hour drive from home to school, and Ruan Jiaojiao caught up on some sleep during the ride.
Duan Xi was driving. Halfway through, he glanced down at his abdomen, somewhat thoughtful.
When they arrived at school, Ruan Jiaojiao was a bit groggy. As she opened the car door to get out, she heard Duan Xi in the passenger seat say, "I have them too."
Ruan Jiaojiao was already puzzled and felt this was baffling as she stared at him with confusion.
Duan Xi shrugged his lips and explained, "I also have abs." Saying this, he tried to lift his shirt, which startled Ruan Jiaojiao enough that she almost lunged forward to cover his hand trying to lift the hem of his shirt.
"Brother Duan!" She hollered in embarrassment and irritation. Who does that? Talking about lifting a shirt just like that, who wants to see any abs!
"I really do have them." Duan Xi worried she wouldn’t believe him, so he guided her hand over his stomach.
Ruan Jiaojiao couldn’t get away, so she had no choice but to follow his hand and feel it. She didn’t know if she felt any abs, but what she felt was definitely solid.
Her face was flushed crimson, and she glanced at him, scolding him for having no shame, then dashed out of the car. This time after getting out, she didn’t look back as usual, but quickened her pace towards the teaching building.
And behind, Duan Xi was also blushing slightly. His intention had been to let her know he had abs, and never expected it to ignite a fire that ended up making him uncomfortable.
He rested his head on the steering wheel, watching her figure running faster, his eyes deep and longing, wishing time would pass faster, even faster... so he could be with her, like a family, hoping she’d soon become his true fiancée.
He might not want kids yet, but he truly wanted a real fiancée.
Ruan Jiaojiao hadn’t any idea what Duan Xi was thinking about in the car, with a flushed face all the way. Only when she was near the classroom did she slightly calm down. As she entered the classroom, she nearly bumped into Jiang Xun coming in from the other side. She awkwardly offered a quick apology, but Jiang Xun merely glanced at her, his expression cold, and entered the classroom first.
Ruan Jiaojiao followed behind and sat next to Li Yaoyao who had helped her grab her books.
Li Yaoyao leaned in curiously, puzzled, "Why does the class president look so grumpy?"
Jiang Xun likes Ruan Jiaojiao, which everyone in the class knows. Typically, when Jiang Xun is moody, it’s mostly related to Ruan Jiaojiao, which classmates are aware of too, even though Ruan Jiaojiao already has the school’s heartthrob and top scholar, Duan Xi, as her fiancé.
Ruan Jiaojiao shrugged, shaking her head, "No idea."
Over two years as classmates, her relationship with Jiang Xun has always been like this. Duan Xi doesn’t like her fraternizing too much with Jiang Xun, and she avoids it herself. However, after earlier conversations, her relationship with Jiang Xun can only be considered okay, maintaining a surface-level rapport.
She has no clue why he suddenly seemed off again.
But no matter why, it has nothing to do with her.
Wednesday is Ruan Jiaojiao’s busiest day with courses.
