Rotting Land: Survive
Chapter 699 - 688: Making Up My Mind (Part 1)
Early morning, everything is silent; besides the guards on duty, most people in the Factory are still dreaming, but an abrupt disco track suddenly breaks this peace.
Half-asleep, Liu Yunpeng is annoyed by the noisy sound, thinking to himself, which idiot is messing around so early in the morning not sleeping? Luckily, the annoying sound quickly vanishes, and Liu Yunpeng gains peace once again, soon falling back into his dreams after turning over.
However, the good times don’t last, as after about five minutes, the music inexplicably starts again. This time, Liu Yunpeng is really angry, throwing off the blanket and angrily getting out of bed, cursing and swearing, ready to go out and see which fool is doing such a public nuisance.
When he reaches the door and just touches the doorknob, Liu Yunpeng suddenly stops his actions. The more he listens, the more something feels off. As he gradually wakes up, he finally figures out the source of this noise.
Nima, isn’t this the alarm I set yesterday? And to make sure I wake up, I specifically adjusted it to go off in segments.
Good stuff, I’ve actually forgotten about this, but it’s fine; considering my current situation of leaving the bed, the intended goal has still been achieved.
Turning off the phone’s alarm function, Liu Yunpeng quickly dresses and inserts two sharp short blades prepared in advance into his holsters, fastening them at his waist.
Going light was the promise Liu Yunpeng made to He Lei, but he’s not dumb enough to actually go empty-handed without bringing anything.
Not bringing food or drinks and clothes is no big deal, but in this world, if you leave home without carrying a weapon, you must either have Divine Power and fear nothing, or you’re just naive and don’t know the dangers outside.
Liu Yunpeng clearly doesn’t fall into either category, so he chooses to carry weapons for self-defense.
He lazily opens the room door, maintaining a very casual attitude along the way, just like taking a stroll, with no sign of anything unusual.
However, all of this is just Liu Yunpeng pretending to be carefree; don’t be fooled by his indifferent appearance at the moment, in fact, his heart is pounding with anxiety, ready to burst out at any moment. Luckily, his past experience of deceiving women helps a bit in this situation.
With uneasy feelings, Liu Yunpeng strolls to the bottom of the office building, and as soon as he steps outside, two glaring lights shine on him.
"Who’s there?" A vigilant male voice immediately rings out.
"Your grandfather, it’s me!" Anyone just woken like this wouldn’t be in a good mood; Liu Yunpeng uses his hand to block his forehead, shading himself from the strong light.
"Nima, it’s the Crown Prince!" One of the underlings immediately recognizes the voice, and coupled with the silhouette lit in the dark, it must be Liu Yunpeng: "Quick, turn off the flashlight."
The other underling, seeing this, hastily presses the off button, and the beam of light instantly extinguishes. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Crown Prince, why are you up so early?"
To be honest, the two underlings have been on night guard duty at the Factory for more than a day or two, and by now it’s been over four months. This time, they’ve truly encountered a situation unlike today.
After all, aside from those unfortunate souls like them needing to stay up all night, only a ghost would leave the warm bed in this freezing weather so early to face the chilly wind. Thus, Liu Yunpeng’s appearance is a big surprise to the two guards.
With the flashlight off, Liu Yunpeng’s eyes gradually recover from the intense light stimulation, and he naturally wants to vent and reprimand the pair in front of him for his discomfort. However, considering today’s task, he shouldn’t be too conspicuous, so he suppresses his rage: "Nonsense, I thought the air outside is nice, can’t I come out to get some fresh air?"
"Sure... sure!" The two underlings don’t have the guts to argue with this Crown Prince; in other words, as long as he doesn’t trouble them, no one will care what he does.
Liu Yunpeng casts them a side-glance, asking snappily, "Let me ask you, what time does the outbound squad leave?"
This was something he originally planned to clarify yesterday, but upon thinking it through, now everyone in the Factory practically looks up to Huang Yong, so if he asks about this, these idiots will certainly inform Huang Yong immediately. Then he can forget about leaving the Factory.
"The outbound squad usually leaves at 7 o’clock, why does the Crown Prince ask about this?"
"Damn, just asking about the Factory’s situation, isn’t that allowed? Are you a damn encyclopedia with all these questions?" Liu Yunpeng feels like a prisoner, having to give a reason for asking a question.
"No... no, Crown Prince, feel free to ask anything! It’s no problem..." one guard glances at the other, seemingly warning him not to be verbose, knowing this young man is not someone they can offend.
"7 o’clock, Nima, a bunch of lazy asses, they start a mission so damn late." Liu Yunpeng murmurs to himself, having given up his morning sleep to catch the outbound squad vehicle, battling the cold winter wind only to get this result, how can he not be angry?
But Liu Yunpeng’s muttering is interpreted differently by the underlings; they think he’s here to inspect their daily work. So they quickly alleviated for their brothers, saying, "Crown Prince, you may not know, the outbound squad chooses to depart at 7 mainly for safety reasons; 7 o’clock is when it’s light outside, making the view broader and relatively safer."
"Damn, I have to wait until 7 o’clock? That’s so damn unlucky!" Liu Yunpeng instinctively says again.
But his mutterings fall on the ears of the two guards with cat-like ears: "Crown Prince, no need to wait, our outbound squad’s total only has 2 waves, and these two groups haven’t returned so far, so..."
Seeing Liu Yunpeng furrow his brows, the underling wisely closes his mouth immediately, while the latter also doesn’t intend to prolong the idle chat with them, turning and heading back inside, thinking as he walks.
Looking at the current situation, it seems he has no choice but to complete this trip on his own; well, let’s gamble on this one, hoping nothing goes wrong on the journey and he can make contact successfully.
With his thoughts drifting, Liu Yunpeng returns to his room, rummages through the drawer for the car keys left there long ago, planning to use this car to complete the outing mission.
