Chapter 509: Having An Edge

Why one might ask? How could she not get lost in this large palace compound?

because she has been looking over the construction of this place from the beginning.

And then she reached the area of his husband residence.

Aeryon palace is not yet completed but it is really majestic. It has a fusion of the Marynku, of Yan and of Roma.

The entire palace is built to incite awe and to dominate the tribes around it

There is grey stone bricks and there is defensive towers in this personal palace

Yes, Aeryon did not go to his usual residence but goes to his personal castle inside the palace compound.

Ayera look at her husband castle and she could not help but feel a little bit daunted. From the creation of the palace to the many castles inside the palace compound, Ayera could see that her husband ambition is large

Her father only wanted to return to the central great Steppe and revive back the Utgard tribe in the Central Great Steppe

Her father is good at many things but he is trapped by the glory and reputation of the tribe.

If her father instead choose to put down his roots here and condescended to start again, then even though it is hard, today ending would not be like this.

Ayera could see that there outer wall is already being fortified.

The construction is not yet complete but when it does get completed, this castle alone would be hard to take down

Aeryon might have created this castle as one of the defending spots if the city and the palace could not contain any invaders

Aeryon approach to this is quite unusual.

Attacking is the forte of the people of the Steppe and defending is not really something that is paid attention to by the people of the Steppe

You either fight bravely, attack head on or flee when one is desperate.

But Aeryon has created many defensive formation since he lead this tribe.

Even though he rarely has the chance to use these defensive formation, Ayera knows that during the Wustkazan battle, many captains and commanders under Aeryon army could held off a large amount of Wustkazan warriors relying on the defensive methods that Aeryon taught them

Ayera got these information from her men that she sent to the army

She saw there is some guards in front of the castle.

There are several unfinished tiered towers with sweeping, upturned eaves in the style of Yan pagodas, each adorned with intricate wooden brackets and tiled roofs in red and gold

In any other places, construction would burden the people and forced labour would incite restlessness among the people

Yet, Ayera did not understand how Aeryon method actually did not have this pitfall.

The more work and consecution he did, the more prosperous the tribe seems to become.

Ayera did not understand how this happen. And he also did not understand Aeryon desire to create a palace in the Steppe

Ayera is learned in many arts that any warriors of the Steppe should know. But if there is one thing she did not learn it would be the art of money

And Aeryon knows. The difference between his labour and other people labour is that his labour has salary. freēnovelkiss.com

The salary is not in paper money because right now paper money is not yet invented but in resources.

So, there is this weird phenomena where the more Aeryon build, the more prosperous and powerful his tribe become.

Ayera did want her tribe to emulate this method but she did not dare imitate it because she did not understand it.

Not that it matters now.

Ayera did not know the cause and effect of all the knowledge Aeryon breathed into his tribe but she knows that if she tries to implement the measure that she half-heartedly stolen from Aeryon, there might be hidden dangers that she could not fix later.

She looks at the castle and she could tell that some of these tower evoke imperial grandeurs of the Yan dynasty.

Not only the grandeur but also the awe.

This building, this small palace is likely inspired by the Xun and Yan dynasties architecture.

"Aeryon really does know how to exploits those people"

To create something like this requires engineering knowledge. Knowledge that none of his tribesman or the other tribes learned

Then how did such architecture appears here?

The Yan people.

There is some Yan engineers that Aeryon had bought in the slave markets. There is a fierce warlords of Sirong people that rises in the north.

From what Ayera heard that person is called Qianrong Tuge. He burned many villages and kills many people, looting and burn as he rides the entire outskirts of the Northern region of Yan dynasty.

Then there is some smaller warlords that rises up following the chaos. There is big demons and small demons all over Nurshira region right now

The big demon raises their army for their ambition and goals while the small demons wanted to get some fortune in this chaos

Many of the small warlords in the Nurshira regions knowns that Aeryon would buy Yan slaves and so they sell Yan people to the Steppe.

Ayera knows what Aeryon did with these Yan people.

Yan people are mud legged farming people and they are not good at fighting

But they are good at other things. And that is farming and building things.

Aeryon buy these slaves and learn the knowledge of the Yan people and make his people learn it

Of course, not every slave that Aeryon buy would have such specialized skills. For those who did not have such specialized skills, the least they could do is to farm for their tribes.

Even though the farming environment is less than ideals, there is some new fruits and plants that Aeryon had told his people to plant and some of them have shown success.

Ayera often wondered where Aeryon got all of these stuff but Aeryon and her did not actually talk about plants and fruit when they meet with each other.

But when battles between these warlords and government forces intensified, some ran to the south, some ran to the north and some are captured and sold

And Aeryon also got a bargain.

Which is something that most people of the Steppe would not understand. Most Yan people would die if they met with the Steppe people

After all, the Steppe people was killed a lot by the Yan people. The blood feud is there and so the people of the Steppe would not be merciful to Yan people

But Aeryon began a trend of buying these Yan people so the group that came down south an raided the area of Yan dynasty would kill some and spare some.

They know that the Kan would buy these people.

They could sell the one with knowledge a lot more than uneducated people so if they knew they captured people with skills, they would spare them

Some men who are strong is also spared so that they could be sold to further lands. After all, the Yan people always captured the people of Steppe and called them dogs

So, the Steppe people would do the same for the Yan people.

To the uneducated they would not understand why Aeryon is so eager to buy these people. But to those wise men, they could see some trace of it.

And those who could see the big picture are only a few and those who understand it could not help but lament that the ambition of Aeryon is nearly piercing the sky, too large and too vast that one could not help but think that Aeryon dreams are really too big for the Steppe.

So, there is Yan scholars, Yan engineers, Yan artisans, and all kinds of Yan people with skills is now working for the Brolgadhr tribe.

Aeryon did not hesitate to buy all of these people

Aeryon is a visionary. Ayera acknowledged this. Aeryon obviously has intention of taking the step toward Yan

Yet, after his last victory in Nurshira, he never sent his men to ride south again instead he is content in letting the other tribes to occupied the area around the Wall of Yan and letting other tribes inside the Nurshira region and the northern region of Yan to be controlled by these tribes.

Ayera once ask Aeryon about this.

Aeryon never answer her. But it is clear that Aeryon have his own decision and his own plans about this matter

But it is clear as day, that someday, Aeryon would ride south.

And when he does ride south, that means Aeryon would probably have confidence to win

That is the kind of man that Ayera had married.

A visionary that is invincible.

This invincibility did not come because he is invincible in the first place but because he is the kind of man that makes sure that when he does fight, he would win

He would take risk but even in that risk, the probability of winning is in his hand. When he gambles,, he is not some kind of insane gambler that fight a completely losing battle

There is always a chance of winning in his gambling move.

He takes the risk because he believe the gains is worth it.

That is the heart of someone who pioneer a new path.

He still has that edge.

Old people lost that edge.
