Blake had been revealed something he thought was quite obvious from the beginning, there was no way their genetically modified species of humans could live as long as normal ones, that they aged to adulthood in only a year already meant their metabolism was enhanced and very fast. They lived around the same as dogs or cats.
To Blake it wasn't anything he cared about, he would leave the Trial in a day from now, and although he might've been slightly bothered if he wasn't in a trial and he would actually live twenty years, he would probably already become a cyborg along the way, prolonging his life indefinitely.
Actually, as he thought about it, the ability to harness Neutonium Cores into the body and create cores is probably a way to cultivate, which could strengthen the body and increase lifespan.
"I-I had no idea I would live so little…" Hermes muttered. "I… wanted to have a family one day. Will our children also live this long?"
"If you have children between each pilot, yes," Nodded Hazma. "If you have a child with an unmodified human, it might result in either a pilot lifespan, or an hybrid with a bit longer lifespan, probably up to forty years."
"No way…" Emilia was also a bit traumatized. "I wanted to live for decades! This is… fucking shit."
"I don't really care," Blake said. "Although… You two and Patrick shouldn't worry that much, you will probably live longer than normal humans anyway.
"Eh? What do you mean with that?" Hermes asked. "How so?"
"Blake?" Emilia asked, confused. "What did you mean with that?"
Blake smiled at them, but didn't answer the question.
"Patrick, is he alive?" He then glanced at Doctor Hazma, asking him what he came here for.
"Yes he is! Barely! I've been studying him since he came here for a few hours now…" Hazma said, leading them to his laboratory next door. "And let me tell you, I've discovered many fascinating things about his constitution."
They walked inside the laboratory, where Doctor Hazma had some pieces of bone he extracted, alongside several papers and other analyzed things he had done with machines.
There was a whole x-ray exam of Patrick, and it showed he had become a giant bone being, with a soft center where there was a small humanoid body merged with the bones, and a little blue jewel inside his heart, which had been turning red over time.
"As you can see, it seems that whatever ability he activated it made his bones multiply tremendously, and they gained the power to assimilate the metal and technology of the machine warrior," Doctor Hazma explained. "It is indeed quite insane, isn't it? It makes me fascinated with wanting to experiment more on him!"
"So he's still inside then?" Blake asked.
"Well yes he's inside, but his state might not even be human anymore…" Said the Doctor. "His skin is gone, most of his muscles as well, he's had become almost completely just bones… There's no way to turn back from this."
"R-Really?" Emilia muttered. "No… Patrick…" She fell to her knees, her face showing ever-growing despair.
"Is there no way to heal him?! Even with our technology?" Hermes wondered. "Don't we have the ability to even regrow limbs?"
"Yes but not to this extent," explained Doctor Hazma. "His bony exterior is also immensely hard, there's no technology we have that can pierce through it, even the mightiest of weapons available can't do it, and I've tried already."
"Hm…"
Blake remained in silence while glancing at Patrick, Emilia and then Hermes.
He felt slightly bad, and even more when they didn't even blame him for what happened to Patrick, as it was because of the power he gave to him.
He was sure the Skill had the power to revert back, but something within Patrick didn't allow him to do so.
Perhaps his mental state, or something else.
"I'll fix him."
However, although Blake was sometimes a man of few words, he wasn't a man that wouldn't take responsibility for his mistakes, and he would always do everything possible to fix them.
"Eh?"
"Really?"
Emilia and Hermes glanced at Blake in surprise, without knowing if he was just joking or actually saying the truth.
"Hoh? And how are you even planning to do that?" Hazma asked.
"You can watch if you want," Blake smiled. "I don't care."
He walked towards Patrick, using his bare hand to break open the steel door separating him from him, and then with another push, he destroyed the cube-shaped crystal where he was contained.
"Haaahh… Haaahh…"
He could hear his respiration, it was becoming more heavier and agitated…
"B-Blake?! What are you doing!"
"N-No way he went insane!"
Emilia and Hermes glanced from afar as they saw Blake break through everything. At this point the soldiers didn't even bother attacking him, as he showcased immense supernatural power no human should have.
"Don't mind him," Doctor Hazma smiled. "I am fascinated by this specimen- no, this young man. He seems to be something beyond our species. Perhaps that would explain everything… he is the first that created a bond with a Neutonium Core."
"He what?!" Asked Henriette, shocked.
"Yes, that would also explain why three friends are here also have them inside of them," nodded Doctor Hazma.
Emilia and Hermes panicked, touching their chests as if they believed Hazma would take their hearts away or something.
"Hohoh, worry not, I might look a bit crazy, but I wouldn't take them away… Well, if you allowed me to I might," he smiled. "For science!"
"No, no, no, thanks…" Emilia muttered.
"We're good," Hermes nodded.
"Oh well…" Doctor Hazma shrugged. "Now just stand by, let's see what Blake can do."
Everyone glanced at Blake caressing the bony exterior of Patrick, feeling his energies and lifeforce.
"It's slowly fading away, he's dying…" He sighed. "Alright, I have to hurry. First…"
He infused Electromagnetic Energy inside of Patrick's body, reaching his core within an instant and forcefully sealing his Second Ability.
FLAAASH!
