Unveil Her Secret Identities-Chapter 606: The feeling of 584 homes_1
Chapter 606: The feeling of 584 homes_1
Lu Qingyi was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon. She had been waiting all morning in anticipation for her return home, not wanting to lie about in the hospital any longer.
She didn’t like the hospital atmosphere, which was heavy with the overwhelming smell of disinfectants.
The doctor was excited to see Lu Qingyi off. Only after knowing that she was "Doctor L," he was surprised that the rumored Doctor L had been such a young maiden all along.
"Rest well at home from now on, alright?"
With his arm around Lu Qingyi’s waist, Xu Boyan spoke soothingly and affectionately.
Otherwise, he would worry.
Lu Qingyi readily responded, "Alright."
The pregnancy hadn’t even progressed to three months yet. With such a long time ahead, who could know for certain what might happen in the future?
The answer was uncertain.
Back at their villa, Gu Xiang and Xu Hang were busy in the kitchen, making plans to prepare lunch for Lu Qingyi themselves.
So this was what it felt like to be home.
As Lu Qingyi looked at the two elders bustling about in the kitchen, her eyes welled up with tears. An indescribable emotion surfaced.
It felt truly warm.
She had thought that after her grandmother’s death, she would never experience the feeling of home again in this lifetime. Little had she realized there would be many more opportune moments ahead.
Xu Boyan was the one who had brought hope into her life and chased away all her sorrows.
"Oh dear! Did you bother Yiyi somehow? Come here to Mom, sweetie. Why are you crying?"
Just as Gu Xiang emerged from the kitchen, she noticed Lu Qingyi with teary eyes. She was instantly overwhelmed with concern.
Immediately untying her apron, Gu Xiang tenderly wiped away the tear drops at the corners of Qingyi’s eyes, her heart ached for her.
"You promised her yesterday not to make her cry. Yet, just a day later, you’ve broken your pledge."
While consoling Lu Qingyi, Gu Xiang directed her blame at Xu Boyan.
Xu Boyan: "..."
He hadn’t done anything at all. His sweetheart was crying from being moved, and now that guilt was being thrown onto him.
Lu Qingyi had merely been a little moved initially; however, Gu Xiang’s comforting words triggered her, causing her tears to overflow.
"Mom, this has nothing to do with Ayan..."
Lu Qingyi sniffed, flashing Gu Xiang a tearful smile.
In front of their parents and elders, she would call Xu Boyan ’Ayan,’ but when it was just the two of them, she always used his full name.
She liked calling him by his full name. It felt endearing. She enjoyed the feeling of calling him "Xu Boyan."
"Always protecting him. If he offends you, be sure to let Mom know. You don’t have to suffer in silence."
As Gu Xiang reached out gently wipe Lu Qingyi’s tears, her voice was soft and tender.
"No, when I saw mom busy in the kitchen, I experienced a feeling of home, something I’ve never felt before."
Lu Qingyi said softly with a gentle smile, her eyes filled with sincere emotions.
Indeed, that was the feeling of home.
"Silly girl."
Gu Xiang lightly touched Lu Qingyi’s head, her heart throbbing with compassion.
Lu Qingyi was such a darling child who deserved to be cherished.
Gu Xiang and Xu Hang served up all the dishes on the table. They were all Lu Qingyi’s favorites; a full table’s worth.
All prepared by Xu Hang and Gu Xiang.
Lu Qingyi enjoyed the meal greatly. Her heart was filled with joy as she donned a constant smile.
"I’ll stay here during your pregnancy. I hope you won’t mind. I can take care of you, and once the baby gets a little bigger, I’ll move back to the old house."
Gu Xiang laid out her plan. Her gaze upon Lu Qingyi was sincere and serious.
She was worried about Lu Qingyi, who wasn’t in the best of health. Whenever Lu Qingyi got busy, she would completely disregard her wellbeing.
After the baby was born, she could help take care of them. Lu Qingyi was still a child in her eyes, likely unable to manage another little child.
"Mom, you can actually stay here for good if you’d like to."
Lu Qingyi replied earnestly. Some people might make an issue about living with their mother-in-law after marriage, but Lu Qingyi really enjoyed staying with Gu Xiang.
They would live together happily. She believed that the two of them would not have any mother-daughter-in-law issues.
"The two of you need to enjoy some private time together! Stop including me in everything! If you don’t want to take care of the baby, you can always send him or her over to the old house, and we’ll look after them. You just go about your own business."
Gu Xiang added on, clarifying her position. She had no intention of intruding on Xu Boyan and Lu Qingyi’s life. Had it not been for Lu Qingyi’s poor health, Gu Xiang wouldn’t even bother to stay.
----
As the night rolled in, lying in bed, Lu Qingyi was reading a book snuggled against Xu Boyan, while he was occupied with his mobile phone, handling some matters.
"Xu Boyan, why do you suppose Ruan Qingyang left Kyoto for Jin City?"
Putting down her book, Lu Qingyi looked at Xu Boyan as she slowly asked her question.
This was indeed a strange question.
Ruan Qingyang was an exceptionally talented individual: even if she didn’t want to be with Lu Mohai, as long as she wanted the child, she could have given birth in Kyoto above board, with the worst-case scenario being a bit of gossip.
So, why did she run off to Jin City?
Moreover, she did so in such a clandestine manner that even after searching far and wide, Lu Mohai couldn’t locate Ruan Qingyang. It was as if she had vanished into thin air.
What really caused this?
It was indeed a very puzzling question.
Definitely, it wasn’t something as simple as not wanting Lu Mohai to find out.
"I’ve always suspected there was more to it. I pursued it for quite a while, but substantial leads were few and far between."
As he gently stroked Lu Qingyi’s head, Xu Boyan gradually provided his response.
Indeed, he had been investigating this continuously, but had failed to uncover much of anything. Whether it was due to the passage of time or Ruan Qingyang’s intentional concealment, hardly any pieces of the puzzle were available now.
"Did my dad have any enemies? Or, was the Lu family wary of anyone?"
Lu Qingyi suddenly asked. If there were any, it might provide a breakthrough.
If Lu Mohai happened to have enemies around that time, it could be a plausible explanation.
"I’ll ask my dad."
Xu Boyan pulled back the blankets and stepped out. He didn’t return for about ten minutes or so.
"There weren’t any enemies as such. Your dad was a free-spirited person, unfazed by fame or fortune. He should not have had any enemies."
Xu Boyan shared this insight upon returning. Xu Hang and Lu Mohai grew up together. As children, they were as thick as thieves, and their relationship remained strong even as they aged.
Xu Hang was pretty much familiar with almost all aspects of Lu Mohai’s life, save for a few extremely personal matters.
"Hand me the laptop."
Lu Qingyi extended her hand, asking Xu Boyan to hand over the laptop. She decided it was time for her to personally get to the bottom of this. Normally, she never used her special access privileges to look up information because of the rare necessity to do so.
Furthermore, it wasn’t good to use such access privileges too frequently.
"It’s late already. Let’s go to bed now. We can handle these things tomorrow, okay?"
Xu Boyan gently touched Lu Qingyi’s head as he spoke, his voice tender and soothing.
