Ultimate Cash System-Chapter 27: Trenton Thunder. (1/2)
Chapter 27 - Trenton Thunder. (1/2)
As Lukas was leaving the campus, he checked his email on his phone. His appointment was at 6 in the afternoon today, and he was not certain he would make it back in time.
Guess I have to reschedule the whole appointment thingy.
Lukas went outside just before 8. Today was Saturday, so he had no class, but still he needed to finish some assignments and research some topics for the next classes.
The fat coach arrived just before 8 as well and was shocked to find Lukas was at the parking lot, usually teens don't do stuff on their own.
I am dealing with a genius and a hard worker after all.
Henry smiled and thought, He is certain Lukas will be a great player one day, and not just because of talent." He has observed Lukas from afar and seen him doing exercises every day in the morning.
"Hey, Lukas, get in. What's in your bag?" Henry asked, he was looking at Lukas's backpack.
"Pitching gloves and some spare clothes," Lukas replied. He also hid the fact that his backpack had $20,860 in cash.
"Alright, hop in, the field is not far from here, maybe it will take twenty minutes tops, and we can have breakfast after reaching there," Henry said.
Lukas sat in the front passenger seat and smoothly put the backpack behind him on the back seat.
" My brother-in-law said to be in the field at sharp 9, so we are not taking any risks. After reaching there, we will eat something nice," Henry said while nodding his head at the side view mirror as if to convince himself.
" I didn't ask whether we are getting a breakfast or not, Coach," Lukas replied. He was certain this coach didn't eat anything, and all he could think about was food right now.
" Eh!! I thought you were hungry," Henry replied, shocked to hear such words from Lukas.
" Yeah, no, the last thing I can think of right now is food, so let's not have any breakfast at all," Lukas said seriously, then looked at Henry, who was gobsmacked, and then Lukas laughed out loud.
Henry was so confused that he was not sure if this boy was insulting him or just joking.
"Coach I am just joking with you. I am actually very hungry, so yeah, let's eat after reaching there," Lukas said while still laughing.
Henry smiled and started the car, he was glad that Lukas agreed on having breakfast, otherwise, he would have been hungry as well.
" Sigh! I am so glad," Henry muttered under his breath.
" Sir, Did you say something"? Lukas asked, he was actually looking at the road.
" Nothing, nothing, hehe," Henry replied.
The drive was not long, it took them twenty-five minutes to reach Mercer County Waterfront Park. The area was very big, and the area around it was very lively.
" Alright, how about we go here? Lukas ?" Henry asked while pointing at a shop nearby named 'Perkins Restaurant & Bakery.'
Lukas nodded his head, they were just outside the ballpark, and he was amazed how big the whole ballpark was. He had never gone to a game of baseball in his life, so he was really shocked to see the sheer size of it.
They went to the restaurant as soon as they went inside. Henry looked vigorous and charged at the corner table, Lukas just smiled and followed along.
" Hey, waiter, come here," Henry asked a little roughly. He looked like he had not eaten in two years.
" Three short stack buttermilk pancakes, four Denver omelets, bottomless coffee. What about you, Lukas?" Henry ordered for himself, then looked at Lukas, who was looking at him with his mouth open wide.
" This was just your order?" Lukas looked at the fat man with awe and respect.
" Yes, now, order. What would you have?" Henry looked at Lukas matter-of-factly.
" Only one Short Stack Buttermilk Pancake and one coffee," Lukas ordered after looking at the menu.
" That's why you are skinny, you should eat more. Baseball players can be fat," Henry said while chewing pancakes, his whole mouth was full of butter and maple syrup.
Lukas just nodded his head and looked outside from the glass window. The weather was nice, and people were busy even on Saturday. Last life, he used to sleep till noon whenever it was Saturday.
" I need some jersey before entering the field, right?" Lukas asked if he had money and could buy some if needed. He was wearing a T-shirt now, which looked uncomfortable to play in.
" Yes, get a normal one. You'll get an official one soon," Henry replied.
" Waiter, Bill, please. Coach, I insist on paying today," Lukas said. He finished early and was waiting for Coach to finish up his last omelette.

"Are you sure? I ate 90% of the total bill, Boy," Henry asked. Although he eats a lot, he does have a conscience.
" Yeah, I am certain," Lukas said, then gave cash and even tipped the waiter. The total bill was $45.36, he gave $50.
After eating, both of them entered the ballpark, and Lukas bought a jersey so that he could perform well.
Lukas just got a normal white-colored jersey, which cost him $50. He was actually surprised a jersey cost so much money. Henry smiled and gifted Lukas a cap that was blue in color.
They reached the field at 8.50 am in the morning. Coach Henry just took Lukas directly on the field, and they sat on a bench.
After a while many young players were coming in, and they started to run around the field, they looked like they were warming up.
" Henry, you are here." A deep voice came from behind Lukas.
Lukas looked back only to see a guy with white hair, and he was wearing a blue jersey, he was looking very smart.
" Yes, Brother-in-law, Meet him. He is Lukas, the boy I was telling you about. Henry instantly got up from his seat and pointed at Lukas with his hand.
Lukas can understand one thing: that Henry respects this man very much, so he should also show respect.
