Chapter 594: The Stance of the Various Races

Yuan Qi sought an escape.

The two leaders of the Fey Race, Long Xiao and the Nine-Headed Bird, chose to sever ties with the human race and align themselves with the foreign races in the Fifth World.

This meant the war between the Fey Race and the human race had become inevitable.

Pang Jian and his father had saved Yuan Qi's life, but so had the Nine-Headed Bird.

The Nine-Headed Bird was a member of the ancient Fey Race.

However, Yuan Qi also knew that it was the protection of the former World Gods that had allowed the ancient Fey Race to survive over the years.

The more Yuan Qi learned, the harder it became for him to choose a side.

The allied Fey Race and foreign races would eventually target the Resolute Expanse.

If he sought refuge there, he would either have to fight alongside the human race to defend the Resolute Expanse or join the Fey Race in slaughtering the humans within.

After much deliberation, he chose to withdraw entirely and hide away in the bizarre mist, never to emerge again.

"Absolute Heaven will soon be flooded with foreign races as well, but it's probably fine for you to go there," Pang Jian said with knitted brows. "But...you've lost your eyes."

"It doesn't matter. I can find my way, even without them." Yuan Qi bared his teeth in a bitter imitation of a smile. "If anything, being blind spares me from witnessing the atrocities unfolding on the Sacred Soul Continent."

Their proximity to the Sacred Soul Continent, the distant discussions of the Fey Kings, and the venomous words the Nine-Headed Bird had previously spat all worked together to paint a horrific picture in Yuan Qi's mind.

Fey Race like himself were undoubtedly dying in droves in Su Wanrou's Poison Scourge.

The Fey Race had always struggled to reproduce, especially those with powerful bloodlines.

There was no way to know how many of the Fey Race would be left after the Poison Scourge ran its course.

Still, this disaster would not have happened if Long Xiao had not conspired with the foreign races in the Fifth World, abducted Pang Lin, and provoked Su Wanrou.

Once again, Yuan Qi found himself unable to distinguish between right and wrong.

"Very well," Pang Jian acquiesced. "Head to Absolute Heaven. The bees will guide you there."

"Take care."

With that, Yuan Qi left.

Pang Jian then turned to the Abyssal Demon and said, "Once my master successfully ascends and the war has stabilized, I'll make a trip to Northern Qi to reclaim his lost eyes."

"The Nine-Headed Bird was hardly a threat." The Abyssal Demon laughed heartily. "The foreign races are the bigger concern if you wish to descend to the Fourth World.

"I'll be even stronger once the Poison Scourge on the Sacred Soul Continent runs its course. I'll go with you when the time comes!"

Curiously glancing at the Abyssal Demon, he noticed that the Abyssal Demon's physical body was undergoing continuous refinement.

Blood essence and soul essence from the Rank Nine Flame Dragon and Wind Dragon were actively merging into his being.

Beyond that, an even more potent force, one that accelerated his growth and drastically increased his demonic energy, appeared to be spreading from the Sacred Soul Continent and flowing into the Abyssal Demon through the six demonic realms.

"The Fey Race's terror, despair, anger, and laments from the Poison Scourge are fueling your growth?"

The Abyssal Demon smiled. "You've likely heard this saying before, 'Demons are born from the heart.'

"Beings like myself and He Motian differ from Outer Gods such as the Frost Crystal God and the Moon God.

"They draw power from faith while we crave the darkness within sentient beings. It is the evil, fear, and despair within the hearts of the living that nurtures demons.

"The hatred and resentment of the inhabitants of the Shadow Abyss toward the Star Devouring fueled my first transformation.

"Now, the malicious and despairing thoughts surging through the Fey Race from the Poison Scourge will grant me yet another evolution.

"A world of peace and stability cannot give rise to powerful demons, let alone a true Demon God.

"Only a tumultuous world, where despair and darkness grip the hearts of all, can birth a mighty demon.

"The Abyss is the perfect crucible for my growth at this time, accelerating my return to the peak of my strength."

The Abyssal Demon was in high spirits and exuded confidence. At that moment, he once again resembled his former self, once dominating the starry skies and poised to challenge the threshold of the Great Demon God.

A deafening roar of a bear suddenly shook the void.

Chunks of floating landmass detached from the Sacred Soul Continent and drifted down toward the Third World.

Each fragment was filled with Fey Race.

Rank Seven and Rank Eight dragons, Fey Kings and Great Feys, Lesser Feys unable to take human form, and lower-ranked Spirit Beasts all huddled together on the floating landmasses, their sorrowful howls echoing through the sky.

Generations of Fey Race had lived and died on the Sacred Soul Continent, never once leaving their homeland. The survivors could not help but gaze back at it with deep reluctance, unwilling to part.

Even so, they knew that the Poison Scourge ravaging their homeland meant they would perish if they did not leave.

For many of them, this was their first time leaving their homeland. They had no idea what awaited them beyond.

"The Fey Spirit Continent! Let's go there to escape the Poison Scourge!" a Fey King shouted, attempting to rally the others.

Meanwhile, the Fey God Rock Bear continued to pry apart the continent using his Dao of Earth, lifting as many Fey Races as he could onto the floating fragments.

As these landmasses broke away from the Sacred Soul Continent, the Rock Bear abruptly transformed into a middle-aged man with dark yellow skin.

The dull-witted, simple expression he once wore had vanished without a trace.

New floating fragments soared into the Sacred Soul Continent, seeking to rescue the remaining Fey Race trapped within.

At the same time, other floating landmasses gradually gathered behind the Rock Bear.

A dark glint flashed in the Rock Bear's deep-set eyes, a growing madness and bloodlust flickering within.

"Su Wanrou of the Pure Land Sect," he growled, voice filled with suppressed rage as he gazed at the poison-choked battlefield where Su Wanrou and Long Xiao clashed. "If Su Wanrou's death is the only way to end the Poison Scourge...then she has to die."

The Rock Bear, Yan Xiong, was also a member of the ancient Fey Race.

He had been thrilled when the bloodline restrictions long shackling the Fey Race had been lifted following Long Xiao and the Nine-Headed Bird's alliance with the foreign races of the Fifth World.

This was an act that benefited the entire Fey Race, one that filled Yan Xiong with both excitement and pride.

The Rock Bear had not agreed with Long Xiao's decision to go to the Resolute Expanse, seize the Thunderclap Paradise, and kill an elder of the Sword Pavilion.

Worse still, Pang Jian's younger sister was still inside the Thunderclap Paradise.

Yan Xiong believed that the Fey Race had no choice but to pay for Long Xiao's arrogance and recklessness.

This was the reason he could remain calm and restrained when Li Zhaotian arrived, Pang Jian descended from the First World, and Su Wanrou openly challenged Long Xiao.

In his eyes, these were merely the natural consequences of Long Xiao's provocations.

Then, Su Wanrou unleashed the Poison Scourge upon the Sacred Soul Continent, using the lives of all Fey Race upon the continent to nurture the ultimate poison.

This had completely overturned his expectations.

The Rock Bear was still a Fey God and a member of the ancient Fey Race. He could not simply stand by and watch as his kin perished in the wake of this catastrophe.

The fact that Long Xiao had started this war and brought about this disaster did not change the reality before him.
