To His Hell and Back-Chapter 198: Child Of Death-I
Chapter 198: Child Of Death-I
Without a single hesitation, Cassius’s hands shot forward and in matter of seconds Mrs Rath’s body had floated on the sky, her neck tightly squeezed by his fingers enough to draw blood. Her father in a moment of panic had fallen to the ground, staring at his mother being choked and his face went blue from fear.
He snapped his eyes back at Arabella who was still sitting, speechless as many thoughts swirled in her head. Seeing how she had fallen into a daze, he yelled, "You wench! Your grandmother is being choked by this bastard and you’re not even trying to stop him?! Bella! Arabella!"
Bella’s green eyes blinked and it finally met with her grandmother’s brown ones that she had passed on to her father.
She would usually walk to Cassius and stop him but right now, she didn’t want to.
"I wasn’t only sold to be assaulted or sleep by men," Arabella muttered, "But I was sold to my death, to a place where perhaps assaulted would have been better. They would have killed me and you knew that. You knew yet you watched."
Her father snapped, "I brought you to this world! You’re here thanks to me and you had done nothing to repay me so why is it wrong that now I make you pay for all the kindness I have given to you?"
"Kindness?" Arabella’s eyes met her father and the shrill coldness that passed in her eyes caused for Charles’ face to turn pale. He had seen that look in such a face before. That look on her face that came from the woman who had also shared her face, not her mother but...
Arabella sighed and turned to her father, "Why is it that you hate us so much? As you said, you brought us to this world, you fed us, you clothed us. Even if most of the time we had to do it ourself, you were also there throughout our growth and watched over us. No matter how... no matter how much of a bastard you are, how could you sit back and watch as your daughter was sent to be killed and stripped of her honors?"
She turned to her grandmother’s face that had turned red as if she was going to give a piece of her mind but Cassius’s tight grip on her neck cut all her futile attempts.
"Daughter. Granddaughter. We shared your blood. We are your only descendants. There should be love, if not, mercy. But you spared none for me or Ariel. Even though throughout our life we had tried our best to avoid ever burdening you. But as a child me and Ariel we always have to fear that one day we would be abandoned and hell, we were right," Arabella’s green eyes wasn’t filled with sadness. Instead it was swirled with a strong sense of hatred and anger, perhaps also confusion as she couldn’t understand how could a father despise his own daughter so much when they are his children.
Her father was about to yell when Cassius moved his hand that was still hoisting Mrs Rath to the air and threw her in front of him, "Speak right," he commanded. His smile reappeared but it was much frightening than the time when he hadn’t smiled earlier as if he was promising that if the two didn’t speak the way he wanted, death was their only answer.
Mrs Rath who was going to curse could only swallow her pain raw, choking and huffing for air as she crawled the skin on her neck that had turned bruised with a five finger mark.
Meanwhile, Charles who saw his mother was far too fearful to go against Cassius and turned as quiet as a tiger without its teeth, "Because your existence itself is unforgivable."
Arabella tried to understand his words only to shake her head and scoffed, "My existence is unforgivable? To whom?"
"To this world!" Her grandmother yelled. Though she had been choked and still feared Cassius and what he would do, she didn’t hesitate when finding the chance of finally snapping back at Arabella, or perhaps she had held a grudge to her granddaughter for so long and finally seeing the chance to tell the entire truth, Mrs Rath took it.
The old woman’s voice was as hoarse as a creaking wood, her eyes bulging widely with anger as she continued her words, "You don’t know what you are do you? But that’s fine, it’s not as if we knew what you were until your mother told us what she is either."
Mrs Rath snapped her eyes at her son and began to softly pat his head, "Your father is the victim here. You don’t know how much he had suffered after being lied by your mother."
"What do you mean by lies?" Arabella demanded. "How is it my mother’s fault when he’s the one who got her pregnant?"
"You bitc-"
"I’m having a hard time controlling myself from snapping so fix your language now old hag," Cassius cut off, knowing what she was about to say.
Her grandmother’s face tightened as she stared on the floor, knowing that Cassius wasn’t playing as earlier she had almost seen the sky and beyond. Not wanting to see death, the woman who also wanted to see Arabella suffer after learning the truth calmed for a moment as she added her explanation, "Your mother comes from a land that has witchery. Charles didn’t know anything about this, he just fell in love with your mother as normally as others, at least that was what he thought until we found out that every day your mother cooked food with potion added in it. That potion is a love potion to make sure Charles will fall in love and become obsessed with her!"
Arabella blinked at this and turned at her father, "Him? Mother was terribly pretty like Ariel. If she wanted to, she could have had someone better."
"Hah! You sound so much like her!" Charles snapped, "Believe it or not, that is the truth! We knew it was a potion and without it I wouldn’t have fallen in love for her and stayed with her. I had a marriage proposal with the head village’s daughter! If it wasn’t for her potion, I would have lived a life prosperous than this! I didn’t deserve this life- it all happened because of your mother! Besides, how could I believe that Ariel or you are my children? You two looked nothing like any of my family members and besides, we had only did it once when suddenly she came to me telling me that she was pregnant with Ariel."
