To His Hell and Back-Chapter 176: Origin of Curse-I
Chapter 176: Origin of Curse-I
Calmly Cassius looked at Isaac with a smile that reached his eyes only barely enough to look civil. Isaac who had been smiling shuddered when the sudden shift in air suddenly stirred between them and even his guards who had been standing five feet away from him began to sweat nervously as they glanced at Isaac, wondering when the signal to attack Cassius back would be given to them.
With ease Cassius watched the nervous people, his smile unchanging. He turned to the ship, "I do remember," said Cassius, "Your king. He is old and sickly isn’t he? Knowing such odd illness that caused his body to rot must have made the kingdom to panic and urge him to establish a will or perhaps the heir to the throne. Yet despite being so close to grave, he had never made his choice. Despite having six son."
Isaac furrowed his eyebrows and when he saw the chances of lying and using Cassius without being noticed was far too low, he retreated his plan, understanding that being genuine to Cassius would help his case far more than remaining stubborn.
"The king is a wary person. Especially since there had been an oracle passed throughout our bloodline."
Oracle...
With raised eyebrows, Cassius hummed. He was the least interested in businesses of another kingdom. But the "oracle" caught his interest more than ever, as if his instinct was warning him. He crossed his arms leisurely, asking Isaac, "What kind of oracle?"
Isaac sighed inwardly and having no chance but to tell the truth, eventually he spoke up, "Once our ancestor had helped an old and ill lady who was found on the side of the road. The king feeling pity had made sure the old lady was brought back to the castle and helped. But who would have guessed that the lady was someone despicable and so hateful. Despite being saved and protected by the king the next day she had appeared in the court, her old body changed into a beautiful young woman with such bright round and green eyes."
"Green eyes," Cassius interrupted with a faint chuckle. Seems like those with Arabella’s bloodline had also spread to other kingdom without their knowledge. He wondered if this is one of Arabella’s ancestor.
Isaac nodded slowly, "Since then all the sons to the king would have to die, leaving just one to survive. Their ways of dying varied. It could be from illness, freak accidents or from greed. Some sons would began killing each other after learning the curse in fear that the curse would get to them first. Since this time my brothers have none died from illness nor have any tried to kill the other, we have all been on edge, worrying what would happen this time around. Now as the king is about to die, weird tension began to form inside the castle and my brothers who were once as close as the beach and the sands began to be wary of each other."
"You’re worried that the your brother is planning to kill you?" Cassius asked as Isaac slowly nodded with a solemn expression.
Isaac answered, "I do care about them. The king has always taught us to be close to one another and forgive. He warned us not to let the curse consume us like it did to him and his brothers. Having forced to kill his own brothers had left him fearful about our circumstances and so we all have decided never to go against one another. I feel horrible for doubting them but these days there had been an odd move and I don’t want my brothers to be sold by some reckless whispers."
Reading Isaac’s face Cassius let out a faint hum. Seems though they were all born pureblood, this kingdom have a rather strong family bond. The curse was worrying and Isaac’s offer hadn’t been said which should interest him. But none did. Cassius only let out a hum to appear interested but his mind was still focused on the green eyed lady who had curse Isaac’s entire bloodline.
This made him to question if Arabella was taught, could she do similar things?
That would be good. Not good for him. But good for her.
Usually Cassius would be interested and try to take the power so he could overthrow the throne. But this was different, utterly.
He only thought this power could work well for Arabella as it could protect her. Though the power inside her is lying dormant if taught, it wouldn’t ever harm her accidentally and instead help her.
But what and how should he proceed with teaching her and her power? Unlike him, Arabella was foreign to her own capability and there was no one to teach her.
No one to teach her.
"What happened to the lady who cursed your entire family tree?" Cassius inquired which made Isaac to feel momentarily taken aback.
Wasn’t he supposed to ask, "So what is it that you need from me in exchange for those herbs?" Or "I see. Then I shall help you in an offer which would work for both of us."
Cassius however seems lacking in his interest toward the herbs or the offer.
Isaac, not wanting to lose his opportunity answered sincerely, "She sentenced to death by my ancestor. Offended by how she had cursed the king instead of thanking him after saving her life, he had decapitated her head."
"Odd isn’t it," Cassius hummed.
"What’s odd, your highness?" Isaac inquired as he didn’t think anything was weird. "That the woman was killed?"
Cassius turned to him and smirked, "That she suddenly had the heart to curse your bloodline."
Does Cassius believe in kindness be repaid with one? Isaac thought it as naive and didn’t expect the crown prince having such naively thoughts.
But to his surprise, Cassius muttered, "When someone is angry they would curse the person that has caused their misery. But when someone had faced such injustice that was so deeply hateful and caused them to suffer something worse than death, they won’t curse just one single person. No. Instead they would choose to curse the entire bloodline, sons, grandson, and those who have even a spec of their bloodline."
’You mean..." muttered Isaac as Cassius turned to him.
"Are you sure that your ancestor had only helped and did nothing more?" Cassius smiled as he felt closer to the answer, "Seems like your ancestor was lying. You ought to find out the truth since that would help you better." freewёbnoνel.com
