Chapter 332: The day your heart beats for me

The more she listened to him, the guilt slowly turned to rage. Some might call it stupid rage but everything felt messed up. She gave her all against all odds, but in the end, she only won because he changed the heart of the dark villain she designed.

"I was just a joke and source of amusement. I guess I was so pathetic it didn’t matter if I was around." She snapped and then burst into a laugh. "And now you keep your source of amusement on a leash."

That was it, he stood up. He just couldn’t take it anymore. "I love you. Yes, I said it. It is fine, Abrielle since you want me to spell it out so badly. Yes, at first it was amusement, but it changed. I don’t know why or how or when. It just happened. I am foolishly in love with the woman who wants me dead."

Everything went still; she heard those three words she would never have imagined leaving his mouth. "You love me." She muttered, her gaze averted; he was truly crazy.

"Are you crazy? Why would you want to fall in love with me? I was the last person you should love. If there was anyone worth your love it should be Callista. She is pure and talented, fights by your side and definitely doesn’t want you dead." Abrielle thought she had lost her mind and she could not understand why any sane person would love a woman like her.

"I must have gone mad to be a man who loves his wife that wants nothing to do with him. Yes, I am that man. I tried to search for answers and made up excuses, but the answer was the same: I loved you too much for my own good. It became an obsession that was eating me slowly. I didn’t understand what it was at first. The voices told me I was insane, and it was right; I was indeed insane, Abrielle. What are you going to do with this foolish man that loves you?" freewebnσvel.cøm

A love confession was something she never expected. She stared at him, and could not stop the tears. He loved her hopelessly. He was sincere, his eyes were begging like an injured pet that just wanted its owner’s care.

He was begging for her love. She asked herself why she didn’t see the signs. She was so involved in the plot that she didn’t think much of his obsession. She thought it was just his toxic trait of being possessive.

She thought it was just lust but it was more than that. The signals were mixed, when she tried to give in Calista was there. He was kind to Callista. He was meant to be obsessed with Callista, the pure female lead, and not his crazy wife.

"I thought you loved her, Cedric. I thought you loved Callista. You didn’t care when I lost the baby, you didn’t stay by my side while I was breaking. You were never there when I was breaking and you say you love me." She started thinking back to everything, did she see wrong?

"You went to the lantern festival with her. Who goes to the festival of love with another woman when they have a wife?" She asked him.

He groaned pacing around. "A lot of things were going on. I went with Callista because of the sorcerer’s attack. She had intel on it, and I didn’t want you to get in danger. Things were tense between us because of Alfonso, and yet you still went with Alfonso, where he confessed his love for you. Imagine how I felt hearing him say those words to you." Cedric explained.

She has hurt him a lot, deeper than she imagined. Her actions in the name of survival were always hurting him. "But you still love a woman like me." She mumbled. His eyes darkened, his gold eyes meeting with those Sapphire blue eyes of her

Her eyes were red from crying, and it hurt to see her this way, but it was beyond his control.

"I also hurt you, Abrielle. I deserved the pain. You were hurting after losing the child yet I made you believe I didn’t want the baby and left you in the name of duty. There is nothing in the world I would love more than building a family with you, but not at the expense of your life. If carrying a child of a monster like me would kill you, then I’d rather have none and just have you."

He truly did love her, she didn’t have anything to say. "Why would you say that you need to sire an heir?" She groaned, grabbing her hair.

"I am sorry for everything I did. You are not the monster here; I am the monster because despite how useless it felt, I don’t regret it. Maybe that would make you hate me." She sniffed. She didn’t deserve his love in the slightest bit. She was a horrible person.

Cedric sat on the bed and pulled her into a hug. He felt she needed it. "You are not a monster. I don’t know what battle you were fighting but I will wait until you are ready to talk. If there is a monster I am the monster who has to fight with his mind to love you." He said.

She seemed to have settled down in his embrace. When she thinks about her feelings for him, it is complicated. Did she love him? She wasn’t sure. She was truly a horrible person, the worst that wasn’t worthy to be loved.

"You were fighting your mind." She mentioned still in his arms. His hold tightened as he crooked his head to her hair. Her strawberry scent was very subtle, giving him a soft comfort in his heart.

"I kept on hearing voices in my mind that were telling me to hate you. It gave me reason but I refused to listen. How could I hate you when my heart could never agree? I know I should not have stayed close to Callista but her magic was the only thing that calmed the madness." He explained, her heart squeezed as she wrapped her hand around his waist.

"I don’t know what to say but I need time. I can’t claim I love you as much as you do. I don’t even know what I feel for you, but if you are ready to accept this wicked woman, I guess you would never give me the chance to run if I want to.."

Cedric smiled. It wasn’t a perfect answer, but he would manage it. "Where else do you want to go aside from your stay with your husband? If it’s time I have all the time in the world to wait for the day your heart beats for me."
